Have you considered talking to your doctor directly and just asking for the supplements? I don't see why she would refuse them to you. Goodluck!!! If you do get pregnant, hopefully you will find out ASAP and can start injections or suppositories right away. Do you remember what your level was? I might would call and demand to speak to this doctor, tell her you want a prescription for the progesterone, just in case and leave it at that. I don't see why they would deny you this. Its your money and your body and its not like progesterone is dangerous. If this doctor refuses I would recommend using a natural progesterone cream from a health food store. I frown on them, because you are unsure of how much is actually absorbed in the body, but it will not hurt you. Then when you get a positive pregnancy test have your levels done and have the report sent back stat. If your progesterone is low, or under 20, ask for the suppositories. Your level needs to be at least a 10 to maintain a pregnancy but I actually know someone who had a 4.5 and she is currently 15 weeks pregnant. Don't lose out hope yet. I know it isn't the same but I have impaired fertility due to a doctor's letting things go too long. You are probably feeling so helpless. I got another md, and I understand your need to get a new one as well. I'm praying with every prayer I know that things will be ok. This doctor, and his nurses, obviously don't understand how carefully balanced pregnancies are. You need someone more caring with less patients. Here's what I understand, and if I am wrong perhaps someone can explain it correctly. Our bodies, I was told, cannot hold onto a pregnancy if our luteal phase is not long enough. The fertilized egg needs a nice warm room to implant itself properly. The LP should be at *least* 10 days long. Mine is usually 6 days! Progesterone controls the length of the luteal phase. Testing progesterone levels is a way to see if a supplement is necessary. Tomorrow I go in to get my levels checked. It will be exactly 7 days since I ovulated. On the day of my ovulation I went in for a sonagram and there were 3 big fat follicles ready to pop out! What I am hoping is that my doctor might also be able to tell if I am pregnant via the progesterone test. Pergesterone levels also increase with a pregnancy. My new doctor wants to do another septoplasty to remove even more of it (there's considerable scarring from my first surgery) but I just want to leave it as it is. I know this sounds so silly, perhaps just my imagination, but I really feel pregnant. Please, please please please...(I say this to all the universal forces that are at work out there). I thought about taking some natural progesterone but I really don't know anything about brands, etc. and I don't really know enough about it to just go take it. So I have an appt tomorrow for a pregnancy test at my doctor's office and I'm just going to wait and see. If it didn't take, then we'll know to start progesterone early on next cycle and maybe there are other problems anyway. If it did work, then I will do my best to get what I need to make this last! I will definitely make it clear to my doctor what I expect from them and if they can't offer that, I'm moving on. Wish me luck tomorrow!
