For further follow-up, the actress playing the junkie was Toni Basil, who

later went on to record one of the most incipient rock and roll videos of

all time; " Oh Mickey " . Other actors of note were Larry Hagman playing the

psycho medic, and Dick Butkus in one of his first movie roles. L.Q.

played Davey, the S.O. officer who tells a young deputy the bullet slug he

dug out of the door jam was the largest piece of buckshot he ever saw, and

then threatened to send the deputy back to busting up " gay bars " if he

didn't agree.

Got my copy a while back at Suncoast Video. It's part of a

" Selections " package from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Their

web site is www.foxhome.com. I think their catalog number is 1698 (at

least that's the number on the proof of purchase). However, if you

are ordering from a different source, the ISBN # is 0-7939-1698-4.

After seeing all the jokes about the ages of those of us who remember

seeing this movie when it came out, how many of us would still like

You are definitely talking about MJ & S. However, the girl herself is weilding

the shotgun and she doesn't shoot through the door. She holds Mother's

partner at gun point to try and get the drugs. When he tells her they don't

carry them, she calls him a liar and then sends him to the next life. Mother

then pulls out a horse pistol big enough to shoot down a starship and opens

fire. The girl kills herself with the shotgun when she hears the cops coming

in Code 3.

fact, when I asked the clerks to look the movie up in their computers, they

told me that I might try an adult video store. I kinda felt funny and they

In late 1976 two fellow paramedic graduates and I traveled to Inglewood,

California to do a month of internship. Why go to Inglewood? Believe it or

not it was the closest place that had full-fledged paramedics for us to ride

with. Anyway, while we were there, we got the brilliant idea of challenging

the L.A. County exam and earning that famous patch we used to see on

Emergency. We thought having that on our sleeves when we returned to Ft.

Worth would send a message to our foot-dragging employer (it did, but not

the one we intended). To challenge, we had to show proof we had jobs waiting

for us. So it was that we began using our days off to go around the region

applying for jobs we really had no intention of accepting. At one well-known

service (now lost in the bowels of AMR), the first thing we saw was the F & B

cadillac ambulance from Mother, Jugs, and Speed proudly displayed out front.

Needless to say, we certainly didn't want to work for any outfit that would

put that thing on display, but at least I got some good photos of the thing

up close. If anyone would like a copy, and I can figure out how to post it

now that attachments are verbotten, I'll give it a whirl. Unfortunately, the

photos I got do not include Welch! Sorry.
