Guest guest
For you I'd just recommend vitamins, with emphasis on C (at least 2g a day) and Bs, to keep them working that great and not let the hypothyroidism overwork them. Guest guest
I found a multivitamin that has no soy or gluten or animal products etc. But when I had an iron test my iron (not ferretin) was slightly elevated so I'm not taking the full dose. My endo agreed to test my ferritin the next time I go in for a blood test (and tell him that I'm not going to take meds only 6 days a week contrary to what he asked me too.) > > >I scored a 7. Guest guest
Take extra C and a B complex then. It is so hard to find a multi without iron. My ferritin is high-normal too, and I'd rather take one without but can never find it. Guest guest
, All he has done that we have the results back from right now is the T4. I don't know the results. Yes, when my levels reach a normal range after being put on meds they take me off. I had the full panel done yesterday. Won't know the results on that for a few days. Re: Hi again , I had the antibody testing for hashi 20 years ago, and it was positive. I have been on and off thyroid meds all this time. My thyroid goes from low to normal, to low to normal. I have had Doctor's who don't believe you need the medication if your thyroid is normal, even with hashi. So once again a few years ago they took me off of it. Now they see I need it again, so I have to go back on it. I read an article on about.com about this the other day, and it does say that there are doctor's who hold the belief that if your thyroid is normal you don't need the medication. This has been my experience. Toni List Owner of:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GDHWS/

Guest guest
OMG, again I'll say, get rid of this doctor or group of doctors. The levels aren't going to STAY normal without thyroid hormone. They're just going to go right back down. Your life is at risk with these doctors. Do they think that the gland is EVER going to make hormone again normally? No way. It may fluctuate some, but that's on it's own. That has nothing to do with replacing what it ISN'T making ever again. AHHHHHHGGGGGHHH!!! Guest guest
Your doctors are dangerous - they are not being the usual stupid, they are violating AEA guidelines, even the info on the Synthroid package. Guest guest
It wasn't this doctor who did that, but several of them have so far. Guest guest
, When it was checked almost two years ago it was normal (so they said). It hasn't been checked since then until now. It was only checked now because I asked them to check it since it hasn't been checked, and since I am again losing my hair. Once I found out it was low again, then all the other stuff made sense, the muscle and joint aches, the stiffness, the fatigue, the weight gain, the hair loss, the depression, the dry skin, the anxiety attacks, the frequent infections that I normally don't get, et cetera. Guest guest
do I understand this right? They put you on thyroid meds till they get a test result they think is ok. BY THE WAY< what number is that? Then they take you off meds till you get really sick again? I would file a complaint with the medical review and license board. What state are you in? Guest guest
They don't do it right away. It might be a year or two, and then they decide that since the levels are what they consider normal they take me back off. I have never believed this was right, but didn't know what to do about it. Guest guest
request copies of all your lab results. By law they have to provide them. I'll bet the so called normal is way to high. Guest guest
Member's Mark, the store brand sold at SAM's club, has a Mature formula that is iron free. It's supposed to be an equivalent to Centrum Silver, so I would assume their formula is also iron-free. Guest guest
So the first question you have to ask when you interview a new doctor (that is right, don't forget they are our employees) is: " Do you believe thyroid medication is a therapy the patient will have to be on for life? " If the answer is no, don't bother and get a new one. Jan Toni wrote: > It wasn't this doctor who did that, but several of them have so far. > When the level has been normal for awhile they don't think I need the > synthroid anymore, hashi's or no. > > Toni > List Owner of: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GDHWS/ > This is for guide dog handlers with residual vision. > And > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ToniAtGDB/ > This mailing list is to share my experiences in getting my next dog. Guest guest
So I'd look for another doctor - stick with him now if you need a prescription, but start looking. The very least a doctor can do is care how you feel. Jan Toni wrote: > This Dr. doesn't seem to care how I feel.
