Guest guest
If you go back through our archives, you will find that most women have a great recovery, given time. As I told the group before, please go back and read some of the girls testimonies of recovery. I think that will inspire you! Read about Pam, , Colleen, and others. has also shared her exciting recovery...very inspiring! If you don't know where I am talking about, check the files section, and the folder called "A Real Look at Life With Breast Implants". Not everyone has such a hard time with the symptoms that can return after the honeymoon period is over. My recovery was slow but steady, but I wouldn't say that I had a hard time like Gretchen. I think Gretchen was just unprepared to deal with the risks that comes when you get breast implants. As long as you are aware that it isn't going to be like pulling a tooth, and that there is going to be a long recovery period with gradual improvements, you will see that in hindsight, explant is the very, very best thing you can do. We've got hundreds of women walking around out there that will testify to that! Patty Re: Gretchen D,I think everybody reacts differently and has differentcircumstances. Guest guest
-Gretchen, You are so lucky you can afford to go to Dr. Kolb. I would love to be able to go there. I can't afford to buy a loaf of bread. I just got my defiency from MDL and they are puting me through the wringer. I have all the proper documentation but they are trying to get out of paying me what I deserve. No wonder women give up. I am going to try and find a place to move by friday and then try to find the strength to go back to all these Doctors and get them to re write what I need. Things like My eye Dr. has to say that this started after implantation, duh I just had the test in Dec o5 and was diagnosed with sicca my implants were put in in 1985, And no medication could have caused this. They know how much pain we are in and that through this last ten years I have been to 50 or more Dr.s that prescribe medicine. It is such a run around. I needed to vent. Probably wont see a dime. Even though I have suffered and lived in misery and lost everything. Terri P -- In , " auntsisnj " <auntsisnj@...> wrote: > > Hi Gretchen, > > I think it's a good decision to go see Dr. Kolb. Guest guest
You may not have anything left in there, but listen to your instincts which are telling you to get it checked with Dr. Kolb. It's possible your body is still reacting to all it's been through, but you need to have peace of mind so it's worth the visit to Dr. Kolb. Sometimes you do get worse before you get better - I did. Guest guest
Traci, You really said it all! . . . Thanks so much! With an attitude like yours, you're sure to succeed! Rogene Re: Re: Gretchen Dear Gretchy,First things first, I want you to re-read this poem Iwrote. This poem is about me and my life. This poemis about me and my very conscious decision to takeback my life.My choice,I always wondered why bad things happened to me,Peace, happiness, good fortune always eluded me,I prayed, kept the faith and listened to my innervoice,That is when I finally realized I have a CHOICE.I didn't choose to have bad things happen to me and Iknow I can,CHOOSE to love and accept myself for the wonderfulperson I am.I CHOOSE to forgive myself for any past mistakes,I CHOOSE to allow me a more compassionate person tomake. I am a winner, I am a fighter, I am inspirational andvery loving.I can take bad things and make into something goodcoming. If I become troubled again, I'll turn to the Lord toguide me.Appreciating and loving all those who walk beside mein my life’s Journey.************ ********* ********* *****Now having said all that, this is part of the road topositivity. Writing poetry, journals, diary, scrapbooking, knitting etc., activities ofself-expression, are all tools to positivity. You canwork the computer so any of these items require aboutthe same amount of effort. As I've said in my previous posting, I've had a roughgo at life (as have numerous others) and I've decided, since I've gone to the school of hard knocks, I'mgoing to graduate with honours.Think of it this way......change what you can controland accept what you can't control. Accepting what youcan't control is key to learning how to forgiveyourself. That's how I did it.You are going to Dr. Kolb, you have a family andboyfriend who love you. That's worth more than anyamount of money in the world. I know you are upsetabout your job, but your job doesn't define who youare as a person, you are defined on how you treatothers. Please keep in mind as I'm writing this, my husbandhas a surgery coming up on March 8th, my job is acontract that finishes at the end of June so no sicktime paid, I have my own explantation to deal with, my10th anniversary of being cancer free is coming up onAugust 15th so all the nightmares about it aresurfacing again, I'm having muscle aches so bad rightnow I'd like to unzip myself and step outside ofmyself and on top of that - there's a blizzard ragingoutside.So.......this is how I make this into something positive:- my husband will no longer have breathing problemsafter his surgery so that's good,- one trip to the employment agency a month before myjob is up - all taken care of, so that's good,- I've decided I'm really happy about being cancerfree for the past 10 years, so time to PARTY! Myhusband, Godson and I are going western horsebacktrail riding on the anniversary date so that's good,- even though I'm achey all over, I'm thinking aboutmy upcoming trip to Florida with Hubby in May at thattime I'm going swimming with Manatees, so that's good,- And we're getting up early to beat the traffic, stopat Tim Horton's for hot chocolate in the morning andmake driving through the snow tomorrow into somethingfun.I used to think that I was the stupidest, worthlesssack of going with no strength and nothing to offer toanyone. Since I've followed my plan, it's allstarting to turn around. I love my life and I wouldn't change it for the world.I regret nothing, mistakes are opportunities to learnand grow as a person.Love to all my saline sisters,Traci--- foxygretchy <gretchencgmail (DOT) com> wrote:> How do you forgive yourself and think positive? Guest guest
Gretchen, Well, I'm no doctor, but I know that alot of drugs can stay in the body for MONTHS, and the drugs they use for anesthetic are some of the strongest most toxic drugs out there. I believe they really do a number on us (that's why people in really weakened states can't have surgery). I don't know if ALL of your symptoms would be directly related but I think maybe the drugs have just overloaded your body. I am also familiar with the concept of 'healing crisis', which is when your body is detoxing at a rate it can not handle and brings about a plethora of unpleasant symptoms. I hope you feel better soon! If you can't find the answers you need from conventional medicine, alternative medicine or energy therapie might help. Guest guest
Does anyone else here find it hard to believe that she needed YET another surgery ???? Has she had time to even know if she was going to feel better ? I just think this is sorta crazy.

Guest guest
My thoughts on Gretchen is that the PS didn't maintain a sterile operating room. He set her up with a very bad infection the first time and didn't address it second time . . In fact, he probably made it worse when he remved just the implants and not the capsules, leaving bacteria to spill into her chest cavity - In addition to whatever organisms she picked up in a dirty OR the second time around. The way he has treated her is horrible! IMHO, he should lose his liscense. Rogene
Guest guest
It certainly sounded to me like she had some sort of infection or reaction going on. I was worried that she was having a " toxic shock " type of reaction...which is why I adamately kept telling her to please go somewhere. I am unclear on whether a capsule even has totally formed at 4 weeks. Does anyone else here know??? And I don't know how any surgeon can take out a partially formed capsule. Something is obviously going on...but I certainly do not know what. This is why I asked Gretchen how he took them out? Don't know if she answered that question. If he simply deflated them, spilling all that stuff from the implant into her chest cavity...that is cause for BIG problems. I think it is hard to quess whether this third surgey is a good move or not....because we really don't know exactly what took place with the other two....ya know????? And unfortunately, neither did Gretchen. Neither do any of us really....unless we ask the surgeon to " take a video of the surgery " . My surgeon did this. Although, I have not asked him for the copy. > > My thoughts on Gretchen is that the PS didn't maintain a sterile operating room. Guest guest
, I thought this way at first about Gretchen as well, but I am now realizing that she really is having major problems and it isn't just about fear. I certainly wouldn't want to keep putting myself through countless surgeries just because. I think that the ps really screwed something up...if anyone can figure it out it'll be Kolb. I too think she is in wonderful hands. We all need to pray for her and just be there for her. I feel bad because I wrote a while back complaining about her "whining" thinking she just hadn't given it enough time. I am getting explanted in a few weeks and it was scaring me....now I feel terrible for it. Hopefully things will get better for her. Guest guest
, Her fear was great after her second surgery since she got way worse instead of better. She was in contact with Dr. Kolb. She was scared since the PS found no capsules and no drains were used, this could have been the reason she got so worse. She had her surgery today with Dr. Kolb, who had to scrape the capsules out of her chest and put drains in. Let's all pray for her to get better!!!!!!!!!!! ~ Check out free AOL. Guest guest
That's what those who don't want to remove capsules would like us to believe . . . However, I had capsular contraction at three weeks! . . . There definitely can be capsules by five weeks. Rogene Re: Gretchen I didn't think she had capsules since she only had implants for 5 weeks ?
