hello,

I may be barking up the wrong tree but as far as I know if you don't need vitd3

it can cause calc build up which i would imagine would not be that great for

brain, only saying because end ( I know ) asked if I was taking vitd3

supplements ( told a white lie...) as calcium reading was high- over upper limit

( don't eat a lot of dairy )..also as per the vit c i take it is in tablet form

and soluble as the latter not that great and can have lot of fillers, my problem

there was it gave me bad skin.Somebody more learned like chris or bob may also

add..

To find out whether either are connected to this symptoms, I

would stop your vitamin D3 and carry on taking only the vitamin C and see if

the brain fog and tiredness persists. If it does, then stop the vitamin C and

wait and see again. If you still have these symptoms, obviously it is related

to neither. If symptoms disappear after stopping vitamin C, then start the

vitamin D once again. The majority of people who suffer with hypothyroidism find

they need high doses of both vitamin C and vitamin D3 (what D vitamin are you

taking Angel?)

I think it most likely it is caused because your thyroid hormone

replacement is being stopped from being properly absorbed into your cells,

which could be because you have one of the associated conditions that goes

along with being hypothyroid. i.e. low adrenal reserve, systemic candidiasis,

low ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper or zinc. Will

your GP check out the last 7 possibilities?

Luv - Sheila

Hi all, decided to try vitamin C and D. after a few days i

seem to feel a bit of brain fog.

a question- could it be the vitamin D that is the problem, I can`t believe

that it is the vitamin C.

vitC 500mg and vitamin D 400IU. Maybe I don`t need the vit D and this is why

i am having this problem. my brain feels a bit vacant and tyred. could it be

the vit C? could it be affecting me?.

thanks for any help with this. Angel.

Hi Jill

Thanks for the reminder. It is extremely important that members

should not start taking supplements of any kind without first ensuring they

need them. Get the specific blood tests required and if they show low in the

reference range, then supplement. Taking supplements when not required can

cause all sorts of problems and can interact with other medication you are

taking, to take care.

Hi Jill, thanks for your time on this ,but I have now read the label on the bottle of D3 and it seems to have some sort of iron in them.ummmm. took it in the am with my natural thyroid.oh maybe wrong it is iron oxide what ever that is!! only fillers such as malodextrin, cellulose ,plus coating hypromellose, glycerin, titanium dioxide, silica, stearic acid-of vegetable origin, magnesium stearate-of vegetable origin. all this for a vit D pill, makes you think.!!got them from(healthspan) and the vitamin C.I am not going to take the vit D for now but will try the vit C for one week starting Monday and see what happens. felt so not with it that I have cut my finger and now it has puss in it, went to my local drop-in centre to get it done ,but when i told the nurse that i have a problem with plasters (contact dermatitis) and possible psoriasis, she went white

and talked me out of treatment, so I will have to go to my own doctors treatment room now. grrrr. I wish i had more confidence to speak up for my self. i should have insisted on having it opened up and washed out. regards Angel.

Sorry was meaning fillers in soluble vit c if not tablet form you are

taking..it's amazing what people do to these supplements, I found out that my

selenium has brewers yeast..yeah!!..NOT..Also re the vit d3 thing taking and the

boosting calcium levels too high therefore can become an indavertant binder..

I have the MOTHER of all blisters on my ankle..was on a mission last week to get

back to fitness regime power walked 6 miles in an hour, 2 days in a row but my

running trainers given up the ghost, and the blister the result. I have had

blisters before due to my previous running but NEVER like this and now

infected..I heard tumeric capsules good for fighting infection so have been

taking them ,don't want my fourth course of antibiotics in 5 months ...wine a

-calling, know I shouldn't but we had to go an a mercy cooker buying dash as

ours died at 6.oo pm. 2day, husband was supposed to be cooking and just put him

Be

glad of the Brewers Yeast Jill. Brewers yeast (nature's wonder food) contains

many different vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The major vitamins

are:-

Vitamin

B1

(thiamin) – releases energy from carbohydrate in the diet, and is

important for the heart and nervous system.

Vitamin

B2

(riboflavin) – releases energy from carbohydrate in the diet, and

maintains healthy skin, eyes and digestive tract.

Niacin (Vitamin B3)

– releases energy from carbohydrate, and helps to maintain healthy skin,

digestive tract and nervous system.

Hi Jill

Brewers

yeast should not be confused with baker's yeast, which is used to make yeast breads. Uncooked baker's

yeast can rob your body of valuable B vitamins. Beneficial nutritional Brewer's

yeast does not contribute to yeast infections such as Candida albicans. Food

yeasts are not infectious. Nutritional yeasts are not live yeast cells. Have a

look at the information here http://www.diet-and-health.net/Supplements/BrewersYeast.html

hi sheila,

between my asking and your reply i had a quick look on the internet and a few

things came up

http://www.healthexcel.com/docs/_cand1.html

http://www.answers.com/topic/brewer-s-yeast

http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T372380.html

i know my dad takes it on its own but as I suffer probale candida related

conditions, I think i'll leave my selenium( one with brewers yeast ) supplement

at mo, and i seem to be fairing better afterwards may just be coincidence

though.

Hi

Me again.

You would probably be ok with some vitamins as long as you dont over-do them.

I would suggest go easy with a simple - Mens Formula multi-vitamin [less iron].

You can buy this at a Walmarts store if you have one near you.

Here are some good articles for you to read. Click these links.

- Vitamin Supplements: Are They for Everyone?

http://Hepatitis Cnewdrugs.blogspot.com/2010/04/vitamin-supplements-are-they-for.html

- DDW: Vitamin A Boosts Response to HCV Treatment

You should discuss this topic with your doctor, .

Doctors generally dont deal too much with vitamins and suppliments, but you may have one that does.

There also may be special conciderations in your case.

Hi Don,

Sorry to bug you again. These links you provide don’t make

sense. I am not questioning you, just the media – which is exactly why

people are so confused about what supplements are ok to take or not to take..so

many mixed messages.

The first link here says not to take vitamin A over the daily dose,

the second says high dose vitamin A helps HCV treatment.

Just like the other day we were saying that metformin is

contraindicated in liver disease, yet is said to be helpful in HCV treatment.

Just doesn’t make sense…….unless Tx depletes

nutrients? Is there any info on that? Might be interesting to know.

There was a time, a very very long time, that I highly believed in taking vitamins and they had to be top of the line!! However, I also highly believed in finding out what one's own body needed. It was only the last few years before I was diagnosed that I even took any multi-vitamins.I used to take the Vita B and C because I was a smoker and even when I was drinking. Then, I had to add a Vita E with selenium because I'm not supposed to drink real coffee (I don't have coffee anymore). Later, it was the Calcium/Magnesium for the bones and finally Black Cohosh with something for a woman's change of life.During my first treatment, I got so tired of swallowing pills that I quit with the Vitamins. Besides, so I figured, a whole lot of good

they had ever done for my health anyway. I did not get back into the habit again since.I fully believe today that a person is a whole lot better off, buying all the best veggies and fruits for juicing. Now that Jane has reminded me again - I'm definitely going to bring my juicer out here with me. Since this is the time of year to be able to get so many fresh fruits and veggies, I want to give a try to Jane's suggested and do enough for the freezer. I'm almost drooling just thinking of mixing fresh juicy strawberries with other kinds of fruits or even with the veggies.Gloria
