The only things Lyme hasn't affected yet is my creativity and photographic

memory. I hope it doesn't. Everything else is affected. Every organ

hi group :

I also feel that memory problems accompany graves disease. i am 35 years old

and i have three children, which in itself would cause a normal person to be

a little forgetful, due to the amount of information coming in and out of my

brain. but the type of memory problem that really concerns me is

this.......i would go to the school to pick up my children and see a friend

that i have had for years and not be able to retrieve his/her name. it is

very frustrating for this to happen. this is just an example of the small

things that i know are not normal memory problems. I don't know whether

this due to the medication or the illness. I have been off of the meds for

about three months now and the memorty problems havent been as bad. But they

have been replaced by many other problems and it looks like i may have to go

back on the medication again. oh well i guess you just have to choose the

lesser of the evils huh? good luck. if anyone has any solutions please

share with us. Tahnk you

Kim,

I have always been known for my great memory. But, lately, it's terrible.

The truth is I forget conversations I've had, where I've put things, etc.

The other day I introduced all of my kids to someone and drew a total blank

on my oldest's name. I ended up calling him another one of the kid's names.

In addition, my second oldest son said, " It's okay mom, you got most of us

right. " It made me feel really bad. I don't know how I did that. Oh, well.

Hi Kim,

Yes, I had noticed memory problems since I was diagnosed with PA 4 yrs.

ago and I'm now 44. I will put something somewhere and when I can't

find it, I blame my son or husband for losing it. I would find this

"thing" later and realize that I'm the one who put it there!! Sometimes

I can't remember saying things that I said in the past. My son would

always say that my memory was was going because of "old age," so I'm not

sure what the cause is.

I was wondering if anyone besides me has had problems with their

memory. I used to have great recall for names, numbers, conversations,

etc. Now, I have a hard time remembering something that happened

last week.

I think I saw someone mention once that they felt like a 'hypochondriac'

telling their docs everything that they felt was wrong with them symptomwise--I

am afraid of the same thing so I have not mentioned it to my rheumy yet,

but I may depending on how many people feel they have the same problem.

Thanks for any response--

Kim

I know how you feel,!I thought I had a brain tumor or

something!I get my kids names mixed up with my grandkids names.I

can't remember who I've sent email to.It's terrible!I bought new

belts for my vaccuum and put them in a special place so I would

remember them.Well,I tried for 2 weeks to remember but I never did!I

asked my husband to close the windows so I could turn on the air

conditioner.I checked on my garden, came in and saw that the windows

were closed.I thanked my husband for doing it and he told me that I

shut them before going outside!I always had a great memory until the

PA stared getting bad.I've read that memory loss is a symptom of

PA.Sorry,I can't remember where I read it!LOL!God bless

you! Diane C.

going to call my husband to let him know that I had arrived safely and

couldn't remember my own phone number. I haven't forgotten my

Man: "Doc I have a terrible problem. I get something right on the tip of my toungue and "Zap" I forget what it was that I was going to say."

Doctor: "Well Sir, how long has this been going on"?

Man: "How long has what been going on".

, just read your note to Gourk boy do you and I sound like sister. I

could remember anything and everything just ask my husband. He said I hand a

mind like an elephant I ever forget anything especially when he was wrong. I

could remember address, phone numbers, birthdates, poems, sermons. lectures.

I could remember how to sew and knit and do counted cross stitch and actually

got pretty good at some of it.

My family thought it would be nice since I am home all the time to get me a

new sewing machine and serger. I went and took the classes and I can't even

remember how to thread the darn things. I made Jessie a dress for Easter and

you would have thought that I had never sewn before in my life. Sometimes it

depresses me even more when I go to do something and it is just a blank. As

you can probably tell from the spelling in some of these notes sometimes the

easiest words escape me and I have no idea how so even sound them out. I

find it scary of course I am getting older than dirt and I am menopausal and

I am crazy. Oh yeah and I am blonde.

The more I get to know you, the more I agree that we must be sisters. It sure is h--- dealing with the loss of memory. I used to pride myself on what a good one I had and that it came easy to me. That sure has changed!!! I used to be an ace speller and typer.....now thank god for backspace keys and spell check.

How's the alpha in other locations? Sounds like if it's high frontally that can

really turn the brain to mush. I'm working on that issue these days - with some

minor success...

Actually, Lynn, it looks like I’ve created confusion. I have been talking about two clients. One has memory issues from traumatic brain injury. The one with the high frontal alpha has depression. That person has a frontal alpha imbalance as shown on Pete’s new assessment spreadsheet, which means a tendency toward depression. I am assuming that means there is too much left frontal alpha. I think I see it in the numbers, but not sure how Pete calculates that.

I am very encouraged by Pete’s latest effort. I would encourage the group to try it.

Mark

Thanks for that input Mark. Let me know what you try with the high frontal alpha that is successful - I'll give it a whirl.

I haven't tried the assessment gig. I have trouble staying on task enough to remember at the end of a sentence what I read in the beginning. I've kinda given up trying on anything more than I have to to keep my head above water at work. Guess I shouldn't just keep deleting everything of a technical basis and give it a whirl someday. Does this new gig tell you what to train once you take an assessment?

Thanks,

Lynn
