Guest guest
Hi Sandrea, so sorry you have such troubles with your arms and hands. I get something like this, but only occasionally and fleetingly. I do have a lot of hand weakness though and am starting to use adaptive devices. I was laughing at your email because I too got Dragonspeak (because I have quite a lot of typing " dyslexia " and have to spend a lot of time correcting) - and I can't seem to teach/learn the darn thing either! Learning any new skills seems beyond me at the moment.TC, Aylwin xox _____ From: CFAlliance [mailto:CFAlliance ] On Behalf Of Sandrea Kornblum Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 3:07 PM To: CFAlliance Subject: Re:Hi from a new member Yes except that I have it in both hands/wrists/arms. I bought speech recognition software so that I wouldn't have to type but I had no patience to train the damn thing and gave up. I keep telling myself to try again. Maybe when things calm down I will. I do feel that carpal tunnel splints seem to help more times than not with my right hand and not normally with my left. I have made many adaptations to accommodate this stuff. I had an OT eval and the OT set me up for an ergonomics eval. She recommended a keyboard rest with a negative tilt, which means that the far side of the keyboard is lower than the nearer side. I can adjust it as needed but this puts less pressure on my wrists. Also, I got a better computer chair and footrest and also a chair that I could lower the arms to give myself a better angle down. Guest guest
I've done the same thing. Whenever you are up to it is fine. Sandrea
Guest guest
That sounds fantastic Heidi. I am glad about the meds being balanced out and such. I have a friend who takes Stelazine (sp). It's a really old anti psychotic isn't it? I know her doctor tried to change her over but she said it is working and why mess with what works. I think I have borderline tendencies too. It always depends who you ask. I've also been told I am either schizoid of schizoaffective but I don't think those are accurate at all. What is the uplifting oil you use? I have found peppermint soaps helpful in the morning but that's it. Mornings are really hard for me too. Just from pain and not restful sleep and such. I used to work 7-3:30 and was fine with it. I don't think I'll ever do that again. Sandrea
Guest guest
You are so lucky to be able to have pets. I've heard most public housing doesn't allow it. Puddy is a cute name. That must have been very rewarding to be able to rehabilitate cats for new homes. I have three dogs and three cats and could use a bigger house but we manage fine. If I had more land I'd be tempted to have more dogs I think and I don't think that mine would appreciate that. Sandrea
Guest guest
I met a doctor that uses Dragon all the time. He said what he did was pick something to read and read to it for 20-30 minutes. He said after he did this and corrected it I guess, that he really doesn't have issues and dictates all his notes and stuff. One day I'll try that. I don't mine reading to it, but I don't know about correcting 20 minutes worth of stuff. Maybe if I read it into Word I could correct it in bits. One day maybe. Guest guest
Sandrea, Yes it works for me.... Yes Stelazine is one of the older antipsychotics.. I went and saw a new psych doc about 4 months ago and he said he hated the med and changed me over to Seroquel.. What a mistake... I was bouncing from manic to depressed, I was hearing voices.. I was looking at glass and it looked like water and vice versa... I was seeing flashing lights.. I was a mess.. I went to another psych doctor and he was ropeable, he rang the other doctor and tore strips off him saying how dare he change me and instead of putting me on a paltry 300mg I should have been on at least 1200 to 1500 mg a day!! Back to the Stelazine and I was normal within about a week.. He actually doubled the Stelazine and I am so stable.. I accidentally fell asleep the other night and forgot to take my anti depressant (Avanza) and remembered at 6 in the morning.. I was a bit down yesterday and today but now I am fine that it is back to the normal level in the system.. It is so important to take it regularly and at regular intervals... If it works stick to it... I used to take Zyprexa and then Risperdal but they both made me lactate so I was put on Stelazine and no problems. I praise the med to the skies... I am sorry you have been told you suffer from either shizoid or schizoaffective... I use lemon and orange oil.. I also have an uplifting blend which I now contains peppermint, you can smell it, but I am not too sure what else is in it... I am sorry the mornings are not good for you... I hope you are not in too much pain today Hugs and Healing Heidi

Guest guest
Sandrea, Yes we are allowed to have up to a 'maintainable amount' of pets, whatever that means.. I guess you cannot have 100 cats, or 20 dogs.. But a moderate amount is okay.. We only have Puddy, that was her name when we adopted her... Oh I would love more cats but I have been told No.. LOL knows one cat leads to another and is only keeping me in line.. Maybe one more eventually but that is it... Yes it was rewarding rehabilitating the cats, they are such beautiful purrsonalities.. I just love the furry bundles of fluff... Hugs and Healing Heidi

Guest guest
I think my friend that takes the stelazine had the same issue you did when the doc tried to change her med to a newer one. What a horrid experience to go through when something is working fine for you. I took zyprexa for a while because my therapist thought I was hearing voices. I wasn't, I was trying to explain to her that I hear myself tell myself stuff, but I think we all do have that inner conscience kind of thing that reminds us to think before we speak or consider pros and cons before making a decision. She is the one that said I was schizoid or schizo affective. If I were, I guess I'd deal with it, but she just wouldn't listen. I gained so much weight taking that. But I do have an issue with obsessively thinking about some things, like suicide, and so I went on Risperdal and that helped immensely until I got a handle on that. But when I went off it was when I got TD. Now I don't take any antipsychotics, just antidepressants and stay pretty balanced. I never heard of Advanza. I don't notice if I forget a day generally on mine. But I do set a timer to remind me to take my meds because I have forgotten.
