Guest guest
> I'm hoping to get the magazine today. I'll look thru it and might join you > all Monday if that's ok? , Absolutely...just let us know Basically, from what I could gather...this first month they want you to do a cardio workout (20-30 minutes) 3 times a week, strength training for 20 minutes 2 times a week and flexibility training for 10 minute twice a week. They also want you to figure out what your caloric needs are and try to eat that many calories a day. They say if you want to maintain your weight, then you should take in 16 calories a day for every pound that you weigh (so multiply your weight by 16). If you want to lose weight, you should take in 13 calories a day for every pound you currently weigh (so multiply your weight by 13). That's the 1st week's goal. Anyway, the more the merrier...so feel free to join us

You might want to try those also. I think I'm going to try taking a bar and cutting it up and then putting it in the freezer for a " pick me up " . Sandie, The Self range was pretty accurate for me, but I think everyone is different! You've just got to see what works for you and that usually involves a little trial and error

Guest guest
I believe that the % for the self challenge are hi, especially if you are very overweight like myself. It was telling me I could eat 3250 calories to lose weight, I do not think so, and I actually do not eat anywhere near that and I am not losing anything fast. So, I think you have to think about how much you can eat that is within reason to lose weight. I have had a hard time coming up with how many calories, fat, protein, etc to eat if I am going to log. I did get help at dietwatch.com!! My 2cents Temera
Guest guest
I wonder if Self's percents are also taking it into consideration that you are exercising and active. Maybe the other percents are for those who live a sedentary (sp?) life. Maybe they are based on people who are already fit and not trying to lose large amounts of weight. Guest guest
Ya know, maybe not, i am 249, and I eat between 1650-2000. This calculations says I am supposed to eat 3250. And at 10% I am still supposed to eat 2500. Wow, ya mean I can actually eat more!! I just hear of all these people talking about eating no more than 1500 and i thought they were crazy. So as I lose weight I am supposed to lower my caloric intake?? You are so awesome and so knowledgeable about everything. Temera who has been lost when it comes to her calorie intake!! Guest guest
I hear ya Jenni, I can tell when I have not eaten enough because I get shaky, and my cut off is 1650, but maybe that is why i am not losing any weight, because i am not eating enough to start with, then your body thinks your starving. So confused!!! I do gain when I eat more, but that was when i was not exercising. hmmmmm I am going to wait for shannon's response to my earlier post!! Guest guest
> Maybe they are based on people who are already fit and not trying to lose > large amounts of weight. Temera, Actually, the more you weigh....the more calories you should be eating. I'm not saying yours is accurate and that you should eat 3,250 calories, but you should be eating a good deal more than someone who weighs less than you. I know at WW the more you weigh, the more points you are allowed to eat throughout the day. Are you eating enough during the day? Especially to take into account the exercise you are doing?
