We were just discussing lab reference ranges on the ABMD. Evidently

each lab, depending on the way they test, has their own reference

range. I know a few DAN docs don't solely depend on the lab

determining what the high/low is, if the no is on the higher or lower

end, that alone is enough for them to question the result.

They can test for adrenal insufficiency. WHen mine

crapped out I lost a ton of weight, had a temper like

woah, drank all the time, and barely ate. There were

also some other problems, Im not sure what is adult

form, what is child form. My blood pressure was VERY

low and that's a big sign (not sure what your

daughter's is) and my blood sugar was low too.

Debi-

Doesn't that sound strange to you? I am not in the medical field as you

will soon be but it seems to me that they should have a universal range.

Her blood pressure was good yesterday. So that is a positive thing. I will

ask the dr about adrenal insufficiency.

She is in rare form today too. I am hoping that she calms down and is happy

soon.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

as I said before, I wouldcheck thyroid and adrenals...if she is going

through a stress time, adrenals are going to be affected. Also to rule

out, check for yeast and strepto.

There is a way to check for thyroid and adrenals that is verysimple,

though salive, you have to collect the saliva at different times of the

day, but atleastis not needles. For yeast and strepto, do stool

samples. I can get thetest kits send out to you,if you are interested,

and they are not verye expensive. Let me know, alsoif you need more

info you can call me at (954)584-3198

Believe me, the more I learn about the medical field, the more

frustrated I get. Essentially, different lab tests can have different

ways to test, and the different ways yield different numbers. Like,

some specific test at lab X might spin the blood and count cells by

microscope, where lab Y may not spin the blood but check it from whole

blood, etc. Or if lab X uses a microscope at 1200x power abut lab Y

uses a microscope at 1600x, then that might make a difference, or lab

X might use an ACME centrifuge that spins at XXXX revolutions/sec,

while lab Y might use a different centrifuge that spins at a different

revolution. With each variable each result will be different.

Supposedly there are certifications for labs and techniques, but it's

not universal enough to be able to compare with every single different

variable. In the end, it's the patient who suffers.
