Hi Kami,

When I dropped off paperwork at the office, I was told how much I would be

getting if it was awarded to me. Recently, I found out how much with the

little cost of living raise, if awarded. I don't know how anyone can fake

this,

or why they would want to, but I know there are people out there which is

what makes it so hard for those of us needing it now. I don't think MRI's lie,

so I'm hoping they look at those. Recently there was a disability case of a

fireman in Boston who got his revoked because he was seen in body building

competitions, and his was awarded because of back pain.

Kami,

Seems like she's got some deep seeded issues or perhaps she's jealous!

Imagine that?!?!?!? You know, my ex called me... " welfare girl " one time when I

was collecting unemployment, after my position was eliminated due to a

corporate re-org. I was devastated as I wanted to retire from this place, I

loved

my job!!! He didn't understand why his comment hurt me. I can only imagine

what he would have to say if he knew what was happening to me now. Oh well.

People that have this attitude need a good slap of reality. Let me not get

started on him, because there will be pages!!!!

Hi everyone,

I just won my SSD in December. After going to court 2 times, 2

appeals and 3 1/2 years later. Still haven't recieved any money. They

let me go back to when I turned 50, the laws change when you turn 50.

I am in Indiana. Still don't know when I will recieve any money. Have

gotten a decision letter from the judge. Someone could pass before

they ever get approved or any money. I also have Lupus Sle,

fibromyalgia and RA, along with some others. Good Luck to everyone,

mine was such a long and stressful process.

I have to agree but in the area I live in there are plenty of Drs that are

more than willing to get someone approved for disability for a small cut

especially of the initial check. This sucks and it used to make me crazy.

But unfortunately I have seen it done time and again. You cant them in

because the Dr is willing to state they are disabled

I have a cousin that doesn't feel right unless he's dressed in a suit and

tie. SSDI approved that one, and he could work if he has to. Anything is

possible!

My sister was a " professional " welfare recipiant for years and years. For the

life of me I never knew why her or husband could not work. When the changed the

gudelines for the programs they had to do something, but still they are always

signing up for anything they can get. So there are a lot of people out there

looking to get what they can, even I think they should leave Disability alone

because they are just making it tough for everyone that really needs it. CBS

News ran a story a few months ago about Train Engineers on the east coast,

evidently all the had to do was fill out a form, sign it and they were retired

on disability, with most of their pay. Consequently 97% of them came down with

some kind of disability.

RA takes away a lot of options you didn't think about before getting it. I was

watching Cops the other day (what ja gonna do when they come for you) and I

thought, geez I'd could have been a great cop

but there's no way I can do that now. They were arresting a drunk who was giving

them a lot of trouble. I thought, geez I could have been a great drunk but

there's no way I can do that now.

Hi Marin,

SSA denies 70% of applicants with less than a 15 year work history because they

can 'posssibly' be retrained or be found to do another type of job - if you can

answer a phone, this may be seen by a vocational expert as the ability to work.

Many attorneys will not take cases on appeals if the person has not presented a

substantial work record.

There is also the QDD program in New England, which I believe is where you are.

I'm not sure how far it has expanded, but it will be * years * before it gets

out to the West Coast.

SSDI is now all electronic. The best way is to file by on-line application. SS

is notorious for 'loosing' paperwork, FYI.

I still work as a waitress but I live in pain from CMT,knee problems, back

problems. I want to leave but then I won't have money to live on. Can I get

unemployment if I have to leave because of medical reasons. I have been there 13

years and have worked my whole life. I am 51 and have never needed help until

now. So I don't knwo what else to do to support myself. I live on pain meds and

think it will be hard to find another job. How do I get SSDI? I have heard that

you can't work for a year and have no money. How does someone live that year. I

am alone with no help. PLEASE DOES ANYONE HAVE THE ANSWER???

Trudy,

By the time I got in front of the SSD judge, I was already done with treatment and had been done for over a year.  My SSD was approved based on the lingering side effects from the treatment that we now know is the Fibro.  So, in my case, yes, the Fibro is what i am on Disability for.

As for the start date.  You can only apply for SSD after you have been disabled for 6 months.  They will go back to the date of 6 months after the onset of the symptoms that caused you to stop working.  In your case it would be June of 2009.  As long as you told them that you had to stop working in December of 2008 due to the severity of your symptoms they will use that date.  Or actually, you said the FMLA had run out..  Give them the date you stopped working.  That is the date they will go by.  6 months from that date you are eligible for SSD and they will retro pay you.

Here is the link for the attorney I used..  He is amazing and should be able to help you.  He made the whole thing easy for me.

when the FMLA was outdated & I still couldn't work. And that was dec 2008.

Question 2/ do any of you get SSDI based on Fibro ?

I filed for HCV, Fibro, nueropathy, and Reynaud's besides the nueropathy . And then there is severe brain fog, take your pick what that is from! And each time I had to see one of SS drs' my tremor and stuttering would be really bad. Don't have to try and fake it; just the stress

of going to their Doc's set it off badly.

Phyic dr yesterday told me that SS had everything they need except her report. Said she would get it to them by Monday. She said her opinion was that my depression and any altered moods were directly caused by my physical conditions. Dunno if that good or bad??( I wantedto try Don's ideas / get up go over to window. Tap on the glass and try to open it so " they " could come in from snow- it was 78 degrees LOL) but I chickened out !

Any way I don't think Hcv is recognized as a reason for SSDI, but was wondering if anybody on it cause of Fibro?
