You're good, Harry skipping all those good things! I h ope I am as strong

as you on the cruise I am going on today. It is a short cruise-3 days-so

maybe I won't do too badly! they assured me they have a lot of choices for

diabetics on their menu.

Catch up with you all on Monday.

Re: advice for Harry

I had beef stir fry with all those vegetables. I skipped the egg roll, rice

and hot and sour soup.

nice! good job Harry! See that... you can eat Chinese if you get rid of the

carbs out of the meal. You get the taste without the carbs *smile*.

strange readings Harry. If it continues another day, check your insulin that

it is ok and make certain you aren't fighting any type of infection such as

a slight cold etc.

not bad for missing lantus. However, I wouldn't want to try that missing

lantus routine for more than one day LOL just kidding. Good job keeping the

sugars down. BTW set yourself an alarm on your watch, your bedroom clock, in

the kitchen on a talking clock, whatever you have to do to hear an alarm

that says take lantus. I think that is the second time you missed lantus in

about 3 months. I have alarms on my watch set for taking 8 AM dose of

insulin and an alarm set for 8 PM dose of insulin. Without those, I would

never recall to take the insulin ... I am always on the computer

working/programming and engrossed.

Now make that a third time for missing Lantus, and I agree that I don't

believe it would be wise to miss the Lantus dose more than one day at a

time, but if one has their glucose levels under control, missing a day of

Lantus does not cause disasterous results. I think a diabetic is going to

have to become like a private pilot. He always goes through his checklist

before he takes off from the airport. Since I pilot this ship called this

body of mine, I had better develop a checklist of essentials for my control

and survival. For instance one should have on hand a minimum of four days

of medication available at all times and this would also include syringes

and needles and alcohol wipes. I would also recommend that when going on a

trip the necessary supplies for each day are carried plus an extra week of

needed medications, since one never knows what will happen on a trip or when

one will be returning for sure. Oh yeah, and for sure be sure to have the

checklist available for checking off the essentials before departing. So I

am going to get right on making up a checklist of essentials right now, and

if you have further suggestions, please advise.

I like your idea for setting an alarm clock for taking your Lantus, since I

sometimes forget to take it at a specific time and I have been as late as

three hours in taking my dose of Lantus at the usual time I take at night

around 9:30PM.

Harry, the one thing I do is actually use a reminder program to set

reminders for things I have to do. Bare in mind, I program for a living so

am on the computer all the time. At least 12 hours a day minimum.

So, I am engrossed in projects at my full time job and also engrossed in

projects with my business from home. I use my Day by Day Pro software to

set pop up reminders for pre meal checks, 2 hour post checks, when to take

insulin, and even when leaving for trips I pop up a reminder 3 days prior to

me leaving listing the things I have to bring with me and keep making it

reappear each day until I accept it.

I guess I am saying, if you are on the computer a lot during the day, use

any type of reminder software to help you remember to do diabetic related

stuff. In my life, it proves essential. If you don't use the computer that

much, then get a wrist watch that lets you set up to 4 alarms. The watch I

have lets me set 4 alarms so I can set one for 8 am dose, 8 pm dose, and the

other two for whatever else I need reminded to do.

regards,
