Guest guest Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 We were all set to buy an organic cotton futon when I read this thread and learned about the mildew problem. Really, why does this have to be so hard???! Anyways I have this crazy idea and am wondering if this might work? How about getting an organic cotton futon and lining it with tinfoil? This will protect against body fluids causing mildew. My husband doesn't like the idea of plastic on the mattress and I'm not prepared to let my son sleep on the mattress without any defense against possible bedwetting. I'm thinking, if I line it with tinfoil and top it with a cotton comfortor + bedsheet, it won't feel cold to touch and hopefully won't make too much krinkling sound. I can then wash the comfortor & bedsheet often in hot water. Would the tinfoil be harmful if slept on and breathed? Since arsenic and antimony from flame retardants are bad would it be also bad in the tinfoil form?? Sangeeta > Why is this so hard? > > AMEN!!!! Guest guest Posted May 31, 2005 Report Posted May 31, 2005 Hi, I bought my maple crib from them, as well as the wool mattress. It is the only crib I could tolerate, as a chemically sensitive person. The owner is a really nice man, but I can't speak about their mattresses. I myself could never tolerate rubber, and still like the cotton or cotton with wool topper idea (no mold in the wool). Good luck! Jill > > > Why is this so hard? > > > > > > AMEN!!!! It's driving me nuts and I thought it would be easy if I > >were > > > willing to spend a little more money.
