I give up! I tried to make a point and, instead, it has been twisted. Never mind, yes? I feel as if I'm involved in the childhood game of 'Telephone.'

Sherry,

Please don't get frustrated with the group . . .

If there's one other thing that implant women have in

common, it's the tendency to misunderstand each other.

I learned long ago that we must allow each other a

little more space/understanding than we would others

in our world.

I'm glad you're here! I'm sure everyone else is too!

I agree Sherry, misunderstandings happen and we all just try to

understand that.

This is a place for all women who have real concerns about the health

issues of implants and wish help or support.

Sherry, I'm sorry you're upset, I don't think anyone was trying to

play games with you, they were just commenting. I thought I read in

one of your posts that you said saline, too, but please just realize

that we're trying to help, nothing more.

Hi Sherry, that's definitely a good point and it's a lesson I've

Sherry,

I can see some women not bringing up Implants, because you are right, you will be told your crazy. I was on numerous times, well they don't say your crazy, they say your nerves are shot and its stress, anxiety. I never faced any of that prior to breast implants. I did tell every doctor it was my breast implants, and told I was nutty. However, I have only had implants for one year 3 months, and sick since day one with muscle aches and pains. I had a good feeling it was due to them, I tell every doctor I go to its that because it is, they tell me otherwise. I will not be lied to any longer, I will ruin my second summer getting these things removed. Last summer was ruined because of being sick, this one too. I only hope that next summer I can be healthy and enjoy life. I don't agree that we lay down and just be lied to any longer. Maybe if we speak out someone somewhere will believe Saline Implants make some women sick, it may not be all women but some can't handle them. I know my body is wiped out and I know what from, and no doctor on this planet will tell me otherwise. I have to fight for my health, I gave them one year and three months to lie to me. I can't wait til removal to get well.

Let's face it Molly your doctors are rare breeds. Out of all the doctors I have been to my family doctor finally listened to me. That is sad one out of many. I am just so lucky I found out as soon as I have I feel blessed for that. It is sad that we are all being lied to and the doctors are just allowed to let us walk around in a fog and sick. I am sick of being sick, I can't wait to get them removed and be well again. It helped me to give my family doctor the web pages I read at implant~info.net, she then started saying OMG Donna you have all those symptoms and you should get them removed. I was thinking the same thing a year ago, just couldn't get my PS to be honest with me and he would have let me die an awful death. I think it should be criminal hell with the money and suing. It to me is attempted murder, that is how sick I feel. If he could have been honest my PS could have said, Well sorry Donna, sometimes women's body reject there implants, I may not be were I am at today. It is a vicious circle of doctor pushing and lies. I am just as mad as anyone here about the lies. I don't think anyone with implants who tell there DR's, PS, Er Dr's, are really ever taken seriously, until they are really sick, we have to be the ones who stand up for our bodies we know how we feel and what is going on.

Well reading all the responses from this, I think we all are scared number one, and mood swings is a symptoms as well. I hope we all just support one another and our goal should be to get these Saline Implants out of our bodies asap so we don't get any sicker. I ask ever DR in the last year, Am I gonna Die, they look at me and laugh, No Donna you look good, It is a lie I am gonna die if I don't get these toxic bags out of me.

Well said, Patty.

My interest then was not in appearing credible. I just wanted to get well. And

it was

obvious that some doctors were hostile to women with implants. So I found

doctors who

would treat me. I was fortunate to have an internist who had known me for

years, and

knew how sick I was. She helped me through this - many women don't even have

that.

But she didn't know what surgeons knew about the problems we have, and who

didn't. It

was in these forums that I found that. And the support of women who had been

through

what I had.

These support groups are a lifesaver for women who are not getting answers

elsewhere.

Too often women bring up their implants and are stonewalled in doctor's offices.

I have

seen this, as well - my first rheumatologist completely changed his attitude

when I told

him I had ruptured implants. I found another rheumatologist then who would help

me. I

was in a great deal of pain, was having vertigo, that horrible itchy rash,

numbness and was

couldn't remember things from one day to the next! Those months became a

whirlwind of

specialists - rheumatologist, neurologists, endocronologists....I never wanted

to see

another doctor again!

I had already become very ill by the time I even considered my implants. When I

discovered they were ruptured, I was overwhelmed trying to figure out what to

do, who to

see, etc etc. Lynda was one of the first women I talked to and I don't even

remember

where or how I got her name now - I was in a fog then. But I remembered what

she said -

how important it was to find a surgeon who could remove the implants properly.

I found

explantation.com, and implant~info.net (we may have to think about changing the

name

lol) first, and they helped me so much! My sole focus initially was finding a

doctor to

remove these. I ended up going to Dr. Kolb, and never regretted it. By that

time I could

hardly walk across my living room and all I wanted was to get well.

Ah the pitfalls of the written word in emails and internet! It's just not the

same as

communicating in person.

Sherry, It's okay.

Your point was well taken. We are so often viewed as hysterical and our claims

histrionic...you are correct. The problem is that it doesn't matter how we

present it, if we

bring up the word 'implant' to many doctors. The only way to avoid this

labeling is to

simply not even mention implants. I now see that. The prejudice is simply too

great and

the lobbying by plastic surgeons and manufacturers too successful.

I appreciate the difficulty that you and so many other women have experienced with not being taken seriously on this issue.

I am in a different situation. As I am a peer, I have been fortunate in being able to choose physicians with whom I am able to connect well. As such, I haven't faced obstacles. Earlier this week, my wonderful woman dermatologist was skeptical when I described the magnitude of implant-associated illnesses. She agreed to go to the explantation.com site and others to which I referred her and has since then corresponded with me regarding her new awareness. I would be immensely frustrated were I hitting the brick walls that so many women are with their physicians. It was out of my sensitivity to this that I offered the suggestion as to how best to present your symptoms and concerns.

When women begin to attribute every runny nose to their implants, they lose credibility. It's best to understate and to focus upon the autoimmune responses of fibromyalgia, fatigue, etc. at this juncture in order to be taken seriously.

I am certain that there is no conspiracy anywhere among surgeons to squash the evidence in order to capitalize on the implant industry. Surgeons generally disbelieve rumors and take seriously only properly performed studies published by well regarded institutions. This is a slowly changing field. Be patient. By sites such as this and the general education of the public and, I believe, by GOING TO THE MEDIA, this will receive the attention it deserves.

Sherry,

There's more to it than ignorance on the part of

doctors. Of course, not being on that side, I don't

clearly understand everything that's going on. . .

I do believe that, if a doctor comes out publicly for

us, he/she will feel an immense amount of pressure to

get in line! . . . People have been MURDERED over this

issue! Families threatened . . . careers put in

jeopardy. . . There's a huge amount of money against

us.

ALL implants have the potential to create serious

problems. IMHO, one reason there is so much resistant

to admitting the problems associated with breast

implants is that, when breast implants fall (and they

will), there will be a domino effect that takes down

other medical devices. . . This will open the door for

thousands of malpractice suits. . . . That's one

reason there is such a push for tort reform! - To

immunize the manufacturers of all drugs, supplies,

devices, etc. from liability.

My personal opinion is that most implantable devices

are used later in life to save a life, or a function.

Not so with breast implants! . . . These other devices

must remain on the market until safer procedures are

in place. However, the medical profession should be

trained to recognize the health issues caused by these

materials, and know how to minimize the problems. . .

Not to deny they exist and belittle the patient! In

the meantime, patients should be fully advised about

the risks involved.

Rogene

Gee, I wish this were so.

I was in the medical (surgical) device business for decades. If only there was such due diligence for that domino effect to be in place. There isn't and there won't be for a long time to come.

IMHO, one reason there is so much resistantto admitting the problems associated with breastimplants is that, when breast implants fall (and theywill), there will be a domino effect that takes downother medical devices. . . This will open the door forthousands of malpractice suits. . . . That's onereason there is such a push for tort reform! - Toimmunize the manufacturers of all drugs, supplies, devices, etc. from liability. My personal opinion is that most implantable devicesare used later in life to save a life, or a function. Not so with breast implants! . . . These other devicesmust remain on the market until safer procedures arein place. However, the medical profession should betrained to recognize the health issues caused by thesematerials, and know how to minimize the problems. . .Not to deny they exist and belittle the patient! Inthe meantime, patients should be fully advised aboutthe risks involved.Hugs,Rogene

---Sorry, this is a little late, I am catching up :) Donna, I

empathize totally! Sometimes we just need to perservere...it's

tought to be told your wacky. I've been in a psychiatric unit three

times in my life due to bipolar disorder, and when I went to a

rheumatologist appt. he summarized a letter to my family doctor

(which he did not expect me to get a copy of!!) and basically wrote

me off as emotionally unstable and having all these physical

complaints --- he also rudely said, " Well, if you believe in the

holistic approach to healing, why don't you go and do that?? " I

reminded him that medical doctors were part of my holistic approach

and that we all need to work together. Not a pleasant ole guy :(

Anyway, my family doc and plastic surgeon, although they are calling

it ELECTIVE surgery (oh, yeah???) are supportive of me getting them

out, but were careful to ask me, " Do you want them out? " I

said, " Ofcourse, as I believe they are causing my ill health, and

soon to be fatal if not removed! " They sure cover their butts, don't

they? I try to keep a positive attitude, but somedays it's just not

that easy and I go from Sunny to Stormy!! lol

Take good care of yourself,

Love 'n Peace,

Sunny :)

Countdown: 80 more sleeps to explant!! Woo Hoo!

---Yes, Donna they do kill women. How ignorant and unaccountable can

those suppliers be. It's just the same as walking up behind a woman

with chloroform on a cloth, and putting it over her mouth, then

injecting her with silicone soup, is it not? It's just a slower death

the way we were put through it. Some of the plastic surgeons were

duped as well, and told they were safe for a lifetime -- my implants,

which are 20 yrs. old have saline outer liner, and silicone inside with

a little valve to adjust size when required. The hospital I had the

surgery at told me the files have been deleted. I perservered and

found out that they could do a " more indepth search " for me for no

charge. Well, that's more like it. I'd like to find out which company

my implants came from. Yes, the symptoms are like AIDS - it's

chemical AIDS. Not fun at all!

Wow, I guess I needed to vent....have a wonderful evening everyone!

Sunny,

Dr. Blais can help you with the brand name of your

implants . . . The hospital should have put the label

from your implants on your surgical report though.

I'm laughing at your stories this evening . . .

reminds me of what my sister-in-law does when my

brother gets upset . . . He tends to rock back and

forth on his feet when he's upset . . . They found

they could crack him up by rocking with him! . . .

That breaks the mood and he becomes manageable again.

Hugs,

Rogene

Hey Donna, We all learned the hard way! But it wasn't our fault. The doctors and manufacturers' are to blame because they know that implants have risks, and they completely downplay them. Even though the insert booklets that come with implants state what the risks are and point out the possible diseases, when we do come in with these complaints, what do we hear? It's not the implants! How can this be? How can they state it on the one hand to cover their butts before we get implants, but when we come back with those very problems, they say it's not the implants?!?! We used to call those kind of people "used car salesmen." They talk out of both sides of their mouth. They are schysters, frauds, selling schlocky stuff. I know my attitude probably sounds harsh because there are, in all likelihood, some very good, ethical plastic

surgeons out there with good hearts. But what I can't figure out is why they would continue to put something in women's bodies that do such damage? It seems to me that if something is that controversial, it is better to err on the side of caution and stay away from it than to be right in the middle of the fray and be accused of causing harm to one of God's children, whether intentional or not. It doesn't matter if they have a good heart. The bottom line is that they've done something damaging and they are the ones performing the act. They take an oath that says, First do no harm, but if there is concern that implants do indeed harm, then they need to get it figured out before moving forward. They are the ones with the credentials. They try to use the excuse that they are giving us the option, that we have the choice. But again, they are the ones with the

responsibility of doing no harm. It's a really hard lesson. I used to hold doctors in high esteem. I used to believe everything they told me because they were educated, they were professionals. I thought I could trust them. What a wake up call. Unfortunately, that's what happens when we put our trust in mankind, because of greed. That's what happens when $$$ gets in the way of truth. PattyBSBanshee1@... wrote: Sis, I felt the same should I or shouldn't I get implants. My BF didn't want me to get them neither, he was so mad at me. I did it and my biggest fear has became reality. I will

never not follow my gut again, Wow hard lesson learned here. Donna

--- Thanks a bunch, Rogene for this info. Hopefully the hospital

still has the file. They told me they purge the files every 10 - 11

years. We'll see.

Love 'n Peace,

Sunny :)

Sunny . . . ly, I think they're lying! . . .

Maybe your state medical board can tell you if it's

legal! . . . I don't think so! . . . They're just

trying to put you off!

There are too many things that come up years later

that would make the records invaluable.

Everyone should request copies of all their medical

records on an ongoing basis! . . .

Love,

Rogene
