Guest guest
Ok Folks, Which is better. To make 7 to 8 bucks an hour in a place where you can rent a house for $350.00 to $450.00 a month or make 24 to 30 bucks an hour where a one or two bedroom apartments go for $1000.00 plus. Houses at $1500.00 to $2000.00 with first and last months rent plus security deposit just to get in the door. What's the old saying, " The Grass is Always Greener on The Other Side of the Fence " . One thing I have noted in reading posts on this subject. Some folks are asking, " what is your pay scale? " . Several have answered, Many have answered, " sorry it took so long for me to answer, but I had to search around for a pay scale. " Now then, do we really love our job or not? WE MUST, if we have to look for a pay scale to find out how much we are getting paid. {:-) Vern Retired Served Proudly

" That's fine, I used to work all of it they would give me. However, we should be earning enough where we didn't have to depend on overtime. And we should be staffed adequately so it would be unnecessary most of the time. My department is very strict with overtime for the road units. They can not have " scheduled " overtime. Say all of the troops are off in one county... they cannot pay overtime for someone to come out and work the county... So it goes without coverage. What they don't understand is that radio does not have that luxury... someone has to be sitting in the chair! GIVE ME MORE PEOPLE !!! We couldn't get a large cardboard box in Somerset County for that amount!! Try upwards of $2,000 a month to rent a 3 or 4 bedroom house. But I know what you mean...we do it because we love the job and because we're good at it. patty BTPD NJ
