Hi Molly,

It really isn't jealousy, usually. Most people do think we are weirdo

health freaks because they don't understand the impact of their diets on

their own health.

One way I've found to respond, when offered sweets, is

to say that I'd love to eat some, but they don't love

me.

When they ask what I mean, I tell them that I hurt,

feel bad, and tired if I eat sweets . . . You'd be

amazed where this conversation can go . . . I've had

women tell me that they have breast implants and have

been feeling the same way!

That's hard to believe....it is such a well-known fact that sugar is bad for

you, and diet

makes a huge difference in how you feel! But then I suppose there are people

out there

who still believe the earth is flat.

I can say with me it would be jealously. SUgar has been a real nemesis for me.

I admire

anyone who has successfully avoided it! I am trying. This morning I had V8

juice - I

actually like it!

Hi Molly,

I think people believe what they want to believe. If someone believes they

are healthy and eat a lousy diet, they believe it's ok to eat the way they

have been. Unfortunately, the damage is done gradually and they will pay

the price later on in life. My own sister thinks I'm a kook and doesn't

understand why I do what I do because I don't have a weight problem. She

also thought I was nuts when I didn't get implants because of what I learned

on this list. She has silicone implants that are now over 10 years old.

She noticed yesterday that one seems smaller than the other! I told her to

get in and have it checked right away because silicone seeping from her

implant can be very dangerous. Again, she thinks I'm nuts because she feels

fine...

I'm thin, too (was thin before the BA and have lost 10 lbs since), and when I visit a friend of mine, she's always offering me cookies and baked goods. I always decline, and when I tell her that I'm watching what I eat, she says I'm nuts because I'm thin. I tell her the way I've stayed in shape is by avoiding sweets, and I don't wait until I'm 20 lbs overweight before I start watching. If I'm up 5 lbs, I'm careful so that I don't end up going up even more.

Kenda,

Your sister not listening to you is a bit scary. I'd be scared to death. Even if I didn't know what I know now. I hope she will be ok.

Hi,

I think there is a difference between being a weirdo health freak and taking care of your health. Some people can eat what they want. Then there are others that have to watch. All people should stick to a healthy diet but we are all human and must cheat at times.

I'm VERY thin and I have diabetes. I have to watch everything I eat. I haven't had anyone look at me like I'm a freak. All my friends understand and then there are those people that don't even know that I have it. I've not experienced this negativity. I'm glad that I haven't. :)

But then we have to think that while we are judging them for what they are eating, they are also judging us. I believe that people should do what they feel is right for them. God tells us not to judge. That is how I got these damn implants. People being judgemental because I am so thin and flat chested.

I find people are much more cruel about your body type than they are about what you eat. But after all I've been through, I no longer care! :)

Darlene,

Congratulations on your healthy attitude. I am a social worker, and I have

to say that you are much better off with your healthy attitude than

worrying about what people think. Our health is everything.

Hi Lynda,

I must confess....I did worry about what people thought about me but after getting sick from breast implants, I've realized that there are much more important things in life.

I also did not have diabetes until the implants. I believe that the implants did this to me but haven't been able to find other women that have experienced the same adverse reaction if you want to call it that.

I have heard that the implants cause women to gain a lot of weight and in turn get diabetes but I didn't gain the weight. I'm quite thin but I'm convinced with diet, exercise and like you said, a healthy attitude, I can beat this.

Darlene,

My blood sugar went up and down for two years, but it has been stable and

in the upper 80's and low 90's now for 13 years. But I was hypoglycemic at

times when I was so sick from silicone.

Lynda,

Thank you. I know that there must be a link between that and the implants now. Thanks, it gives me more hope!

I am one of those who gained a lot of weight. My doctor said she never saw

anyone gain

weight as fast as I did. ;-(

And, she says I have diabetes. <double frown>

So ..I am on to a new lifestyle. I suppose it is not a diet, but a total change

I have to do.

Oh Kenda, I'm so sorry your sister has silicone implants. I can tell you that I

thought much

like she did for a long time. My mother even sent me articles in the 90s about

registering

for the settlements. I just threw them away. Can you believe that??

It was not until I got so very sick that I realized what was going on and that

was after

someone asked me point blank about the implants.

Denial is so very powerful

Lea

You have been through so much. I am praying that it will all work

out. I want you to know however, that my brother in law has

multiple myeloma and he had a stem cell plant four years ago. He is

doing absolutely great. They told him it may return in ten years,

but even if it does, they could have new treatments by then. I just

wanted you to know that there is a good option out there if you ever

develop it someday.

Hugs and prayers,

kathy

It scares me that she has them and that one seems to be leaking, at a rate

she can notice. I doubt she is in a hurry to have it checked, she wanted a

face lift -- at the age of 42 and a tummy tuck so I'm sure she'd rather

spend the money on one of these surgeries. She even told me that she

doesn't care if she looks like herself after the face lift. This is all so

sad to me. My youngest sister, now 40, just got enormous silicones a few

weeks ago. I am scared for both of them -- but they both think I'm

paranoid. It's funny, I'm the only small chested sister left! Who would

believe we're all sisters now, I don't look like either one of them anymore.

Soon my middle sister won't resemble us at all. :(

Yes, and I am not the only one who experienced this. I had reports of

others when I kept that kind of info.

Kenda,

Sounds to me like you are the smartest sister also! You are one smart cookie. I'm glad that you haven't followed in your sister's footsteps!

Can't you convince her at all that this is such a dangerous thing? I don't understand this. Has she even looked at this website and seen all of the stories of these women that are suffering due to their implants?

Oh how right you are, denial is very powerful. I just wish that they had more information about the dangers of saline when I got mine. I know that if I read one negative thing about them, there would be no way I would have gone through with it. The problem is that at that particular time, there really wasn't enough information regarding saline implants. That has changed so much. It shocks me that women will still go through with it though.

Molly,

I wish you the best of luck with your new diet. It is very difficult in the beginning. I had no other choice, it was either that or my life. That puts things in an entirely new perspective.

Molly,

It's a long story because, when I was really sick with

my implants, I suddenly lost the hearing in that ear.

It's remained at some level of discomfort since that

time with only occasional breaks. After steroids, some

hearing returned. I was diagnosed by multiple ear docs

with Meinere's . . . which I didn't believe I had at

the time, and have since been told I probably didn't

have. With Meinere's one has repeated attacks pf

vertigo accompanied by further hearing loss.

Some years ago, I was exchanging messages with a lady

who wrote a book on FM. She told me she had

significant hearing loss. She saw a doctor at the

House Ear Clinic in L.A. . . . He had written a paper

on treating hearing loss with Nystatin. He found that

a signficant number of people's long-standing hearing

loss improved after treatment for fungus.

I showed the paper to my ear doctor. He was skeptical

aobut it, but prescribed it anyway. My ear discomfort

went away, and my hearing improved, but not

completely.

That was my introduction to the Candida/fungal

infection world. I've since found that, as long as I

stay on a good diet, I don't have a problem. However,

if I stray very far for very long, I develop a

signficant problem. One time I even had bumps just

under the skin in front of my ear that I'm convinced

were fungal related.

One implant woman told me that, when she went in for

facial surgery, and they made an incision, they found

such a serious fungal infection that they had to sew

her up without completing the procedure.

Something I'm finding interesting is that, when I

started my recent dental procedures, my ear initially

acted up big time. Swollen internally, and draining.

However since my gums settled down from the first

procedure, my ear has been better than it has in a

long time. Will it last? I don't know. Is there a

relationship? I don't know.

I find it interesting that, when one takes a dog to

the vet, one of the first things they do is to check

their ears for fungal infections! . . . Why don't they

check peoples' ears regularly?

Hugs,

Rogene
