On the new WW Points Plus plan, fruits are zero points but I tell members to journal them and count them anyway (with a points value of zero) because it is very possible to eat too much fruit and gain weight. Journaling it makes you aware of how much you're really eating will help you to stay in control of it. It will also help you know how much you're eating of it, how often and if you're eating it because you're hungry or you just want something to munch and figured it was a better choice than candy, which it is, but if you're not hungry not having anything at all is a better choice and journaling makes you more aware of that kind of eating too. We also recommend people have at least 5 servings of fruits/vegetables per day so journaling that you ate a piece of fruit helps you know that you're getting closer to that minimum.

Re: / carb intake

The good news is, veggies are carbs too but you can have as much as you want because the energy it takes to digest them makes the total calorie count next to nothing in many cases (as I grab a carrot stick)

That is good news. I journal all my food and I never count my veggies. I do my fruit though. It seems like fruit (certain ones) have more calories, especially the ones I eat almost everyday. I still wonder if I should count my fruit since my body NEEDS it.

Eating those on a smaller plate helps you deal with the serving size issue. A half cup of rice or pasta looks much more satisfying on a salad plate!

so .. I really use to love carbs but lately realized I have only been eating some quinoa or maybe a flat out in a week.. just didn't have in house... I do eat veggies like crazy..but for some reason I love nuts..or cheese... maybe because I am a little both.. nutty and cheesey

I'd starve to death because i wouldn't know what to eat. There are carbs in EVERYTHING.

Wise words, !   I love that you can have as many veggies as you want, because I do love them and are wonderful fillers.  I like the energy I get from them.  Great fuel source!

I have a bad habit with the dry cereal. I weigh out what I'm eating of it (obsessive, I know). I just feel so hungry all day long. It really gets to be uncomfortable.**----- Reply message -----To: <exercisevideos >Subject: / carb intakeDate: Mon, Oct 10, 2011 1:32 pm

Yeah, I would count the fruit because it's sugar.  Natural, good sugar, sure but yeah.... again, better to have in the morning or right after a workout. All of this is easier said than done of course. I still need to lose 30 lbs.  UG.

However, I'm getting more and more motivated lately to stick to it.

I think that is VERY smart! It is so easy to just much that stuff mindlessly and have no idea how much of it you're really eating. Have you tried getting more protein? Protein is the most satisfying thing you can eat for hunger. Also, combining protein with a complex carb (whole grains, fruits, veggies) is a super satisfying combination!

Yep, that is what Noel would say too, (Noel being my Trainer and Idol, of course :)  Hence - steak and yams after my core workout this afternoon!

Oh wow!! My name and Noel's were used in the same sentence, with my ideas being the same as his! You just made my day, !! :-) Steak & yams sounds yummy! I made a dinner the other night that had pork chops, yams & pears. I never would have put those all together on one plate on my own but the recipe intrigued me so I made it. It was delicious and very satisfying too!

It is good to weigh out - b/c it is easy to overeat. I like 's suggestion of more protein - how about some Hummus w/ your veggies? Good fat and protein combined w/ the veggies may keep you from being so hungry which is no fun. Or, maybe some hardboiled eggs? Yogurt w/ fruit or veggies?Donna

Good ideas, Donna! I forgot about adding in some healthy fat too, that also aids in creating feelings of satiety and your body needs the (healthy) fats!

I've never tried Hummus. I do eat boiled eggs. To be honest, it doesn't matter what I eat I'm still hungry ALL DAY LONG.
