Guest guest
HELP! Last night phoebe slid gently down off the couch and started crying when she stepped on her foot. I could find nothing wrong with it. It was right at bed time so I let her sleep with me to watch her. No problems at night, but when she got up and tried to put weight on it, she screamed again. She is still learning to walk so she just toddles around. I cannot imagine her breaking a bone by just stepping on it. I pressed on the top and sides and she pulls back and cries, but there is no swelling or purpleness or any signs something bit her. I am at a loss! I am putting ice on it, which she hates and I have to sit on the couch with her and cannot do anything else. I gave her some advil, but nothing helps. Right now we are so broke I cannot even put gas in the car until payday Friday. Although I am going to find someway to get her the 50 miles to the ER! I just wanted to know if anyone else has experience this. I do not know if it has something to do with the Down’s syndrome or with her cystic fibrosis. I hope someone can help. Guest guest
With my other daughter with Trisomy 10q/5p- syndrome, I've taken her to ER 2 times for things like this. They always just say it's probably a sprain or bruised and send us home. Hope Phoebe is feeling better soon. [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] HELP HELP! Guest guest
, When my daughter was 3 1/2 years old she suddenly started limping one night and refused to put any weight on her left foot. I assumed it was a problem w/ her foot - maybe it was tingly like it had fell asleep or something. Anyway, I finally got her to sleep that night and in the morning - more of the same - she refused to walk & acted like her foot/leg hurt. I took her in to the dr that day and when the dr examined her she determined that it was actually her hip that was hurting. Long story short - it was something called Viral Synovitis which occurs in children between the ages of 2 - 9. It usually follows a viral infection such as an upper respiratory infection (which my daughter had had about 2 weeks prior). It is pretty painful but basicallyit is a virus and just has to run its course (about a week). We had to give her ibuprofen round the clock for a week, then suddenly she woke up on the 7th day and was fine. Here is a link about Viral Synovitis - you may want to check and see if her pain is when you touch or flex her hip or apply pressure to the bottom of her foot (flexing the hip). http://orthopedics.about.com/od/pediatrichipinjuries/a/synovitis.htm Christy >> HELP!> > > > Last night phoebe slid gently down off the couch and started crying when she> stepped on her foot.
