Guest guest
Dear members, I have just joined the group and haven't really got the feel for things yet. I seems like a great idea to me. I just go asthma and its messing with my life. I can't go to restaurants, can't run whenever I want to, and everyone I know thinks I am Just fine with this. But I'm not. I could really use some advice. Thanks! ------------------------------------------------- Welcome ! You sound like me. I just got mine in January. Now it's end of May 4 months later. I can't go to any social events with chemicals. It's a brand new learning curve and alot of people aren't understanding especially when your asthma gets to the point of you functioning like you did before alot of people with asthma don't get to this point my son has asthma also he's had it since he was 4 and now he's 14 and he don't understand why I have to cancel cancel cancel so much his isn't like this. He has an attack then he's fine for a year I wish I was like that. I have them daily. The main thing to know is that you have to learn a different way of living. If I'm at a same then I suddenly feel the attack coming sometimes masks will slow it down and give me a little more time to get out of wherever I am. It helps me anyway. I think that's the first thing I learned when I had to stop going places because of my asthma. You just need to educate yourself and your ones so they'll understand better and try not to stress too much about it for stress and asthma don't mix too well. Hope this was helpful I'm sure you'll get different opinions this is mine. Good luck! HUGS!!! Guest guest
Jamy: Don't know if this will help. Somewhere I read that you shouldn't take your iron supplements for 3 days before testing, otherwise you can get false-high results on the ferritin level. Just a thought. Maybe your ferritin levels aren't really that high. JAMY wrote: > Now I had been taking ferrous sulfate at 325 mg 3x a day at the time the labs were taken. Since my ferritin was up to 50, my DR had told me I could cut back to taking the ferrous sulfate just once a day.
Guest guest
The ferritin is the stored iron. This would not give a false reading on a test done that very day. Rather, it would show exactly how much is really going into storage. The serum iron, on the other hand would show what you've been eating probably on that very day because it's just passing through the blood stream. This is why I don't even see any use in a serum iron at all. Re: HELP > Jamy: > > Don't know if this will help. Guest guest
Thank you for clearing that up, . It's just something I had read on another forum. Sorry to hear you're feeling so tired after work in the mornings. Do you normally stay awake after work for a few hours and then go to bed? I'm exhausted when I get home from work and would nap every day if I could. > The ferritin is the stored iron. This would not give a false reading on a > test done that very day. Guest guest
Yes, I am normally up for several hrs, after getting off work in the morning. That's actually a graveyard worker's evening hrs. I usually spend time winding down from last rounds at work, during that time at home, then go slip into bed at around 10 am or so, but lately, it is as I said before. I don't know whether this is normal or not, except that maybe cortisol is going way down or something? I don't know. I know that I need that testing, but can't find any place on the budget for it right now. Re: HELP > Thank you for clearing that up, . It's just something I had > read on another forum. Guest guest
Dear , I can give you some ideas to research: Have you considered an epsom salts bath every day for a month to see if you see a difference? Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate, and magnesium can help the constipation. (Think " milk of magnesia " .) Research " sulfation " and " autism " before you try, but this is one option you might want to consider. Low sulfation is associated with the sensory issues like not liking the sounds in public restrooms. Also, research Vitamin C and constipation. Will she drink pear juice or prune juice. Either one would always help my babies " go " when they were constipated. Remove constipating foods, like bananas and cheese, and all milk products. Have you researched the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (www.pecanbread.com) or the Gluten Free/Casein Free diet (www.gfcfdiet.com)? Guest guest
Risperdal and seroquel? No wonder the poor kid's backed up! All antipsychotics tend to be constipators, and she's on 2 of them! Im also amazed that shes managing to stay awake, ..25mgs Risperdal knocked me on my butt...and I had a reverse reaction to Seroquel, but if 25mgs sent me as far through the roof as it did, the opposite degree of sedation would be impossible to deal with...wowzers. Problem that I am having now is that she is severly constipated and I had to take her to the hospital the other day. They did an exray and took urine sample to make sure she didnt have a urine infection. She didnt. But the dr. said that she was pretty backed up in her colon. They told me to give her an enema which i did and it didnt do a thing. The other issue with her is that she doesnt like to go to the bathroom she holds her urine and her poop for ridiculos amounts of time. I dont know what to do next. Her psychiatrist wants her to have a ultrasound to make sure everything is working correctly. When she gets pain in her stomache she gets very behavioral she has bit and wailed on me and her younger sister. She likes to take baths to relax and make herself feel better.I no longer use bubbles in her bath Im getting worried does anyone have any advice. She takes risperdal seraquel concerta, and lexapro daily.risperdal three times a day seraquel 25mg in am and at lunch and 100mg seraquel at night, concerta in the am lexapro in the am Autism_in_Girls-subscribe ------------------------ Autism_in_Girls-unsubscribe _____
