Dear Tonnie,

I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling - it has been too

long. I pray you feel better very soon.

I can only say I wish had not been silent. I wish we had no

need to speculate. I don't know her motivation for silence - I wish

she could have/would have shared her trials.

hugs, cindy lee

Why anyone would remain silent and not allow their trial and tribulations to

be a lesson to others is sad and I just dont understand it personally.

It was certainly NOT her fault in any way. I wish she would have shared it

so OTHERS will not have the same fate.

I am so glad to be healthy. I am so glad for Dee and others who have shared

their troubles so that we all may learn from them and take best care of

ourselves to avoid such hardships as these.

Poor on. I hope he has the best life God has to offer him.

Ann the minute I saw your " Positve " signature it gave me a warm feeling. The

list just isn't quite the same without you!

I am doing very well. Not as thin as some people on this list but a LOT

thinner than the day of surgery. I am trying to address some of the issues

that helped me to get so heavy in the first place.

I don't post a lot but I read this list daily and say prayers wherever

they fit. This group is very much in my daily prayer list and I am so happy to

do this for my switch siblings. I too felt an incredible peace come over me

about my surgery. I knew that the prayers being said for me where what got

me through.

Loved every word of your update! I am SO PROUD of you!

Big hugs from Washington, your friend,

Hi , Yes I had my D.S. done in CA. by Dr. Keshishian on Jan. 2nd

2003..I think he is the best....I had all kinds of fears and worries .....

he made me feel cared for and listened to me..Another doctor had song me

this your gonna die routine.. unless I had it done in two parts. Funny thing

.....he said if I had to go back under the knife I would surely die and then

with the other side of his face he tells me " I should have it done in to

parts. " ...I found about Dr. K from the main D.S. list through yahoo one

bad thing is they are a flaming bunch..Some one is always taking something

that someone said the wrong way and all Hell breaks loose. When you have

3,000 plus members from all over the country as well as some foreign

countries.......... it can get a bit dicey...So many people have to take

sides and give their opinion that it can run into hundreds of e-mails about

crap for days and days till one of the list yells STOP ...You have to wade

through stuff. and allot of the times it's just not worth it. This group is

allot smaller and the people here care about each other and are willing to

give the other person a chance before they take it the wrong way..Everybody

here seems to understand that a computer screen does not give the humor that

some things are meant to have...and choose to take it that way rather than

starting off as something bad...I am a member but not as active as I had

been with the other group. This group I love and if my computer is working

( another long sad story) I read every letter....the Main List you can get

to them by going to yahoo and checking them out....If you have any problems

let me know and I will help you out.. For my money though this one is the

best....Now where does a group meet in Los Alamos? and when? When I come

back after my TT ,Hernia, bladder repair and hysterectomy the end of Feb.I

would love to attend. My surgery by the way is Jan 26th in Delano stick me

in your prayer pocket ...if you got one...lol.....Love ya all.....Lilyen

> Hi Jo, Well when I talked to Dee about not being able to afford

the Calcitriol.(When rereading the notice the office sent me states

that Calcitriol is Vitamin D.

, it is the activated form of Vit D. It is available in a

generic form so you should shop around.

Don't be afraid to comparison shop! Pharmacies are pretty good

about giving out prices. Well, they are to me, anyway. And why

not? It is just like buying shoes.

You should be able to buy it for less than $50 per month according

to my little book, between $25 and $50.

dose is $65 for a thirty day supply. Ugh!

for me...Again Thank you so much.

Well, it isn't really a savings, but if you buy it one month at a

time it is cheaper. Also, if you have insurance, you can use their

mail-away service for a three months supply and it is always

cheaper. If you have insurance, they should pay for it in the first

place, though. You just need the paperwork done correctly.

Wow!!! Thats great....Thanks for the info....I will check...So you

do think its something I really should be taking? Thank you

Marta...

===============================

Here's the thing...if your Vitamin D is to low it doesn't matter

what kind of calcium, or how much calcium you take because you won't

absorb enough.

What I want you to do is call the 800 number and discuss this with

the office. Let them decide if you MUST take it or if something

Cheaper can work for you. Even if you think it is too expensive you

have to look at how expensive NOT taking care of the problem can

become.

Call the office.

lynn, thanks for your reply. i feel a sense of inevitability about disability

being in my

future. i'm just beginning to come to grips with that. but i LOVE my job so

much! and i'm

just getting started on my career. i want to do EVERYTHING i possibly can to

continue

being a pediatrician. so my compromise is to work part-time, and this

wheelchair should

hopefully help, too. if i can make it five years, or hopefully even more, i'll

be satisfied.

even if it's just one day a week..

but yes, the financial worry.. i'm right there with you. i'm coming out of

residency with

$70,000 in med school loans to repay, and they only go away if i die, not if i'm

disabled.

*panic*! i'm in the midst of signing a contract for my new job and the

disability part of it

is so complicated! there's a lot to learn about all this. how did you navigate

your way

through the paperwork and bureaucracy? i can only imagine how hard it must have

been

to file for disability. i'm beginning to understand what courage it takes.

thanks again!

Thanks for the reply Lynn. I tend to be pretty stubborn with this as

well. I do pretty good at work but have problems on the weekend when

I complete projects around the house. I like too stay busy and it

helps me knowing that I will feel better the next day.

,

I also have ADD and have a hard time sitting still, that has made this very

difficult but I can tell you from experience that not pacing will cause you

to spend a lot of time in bed. The people here will tell you what a bad

listener I am when it comes to that. One thing that has really helped many

of us is " The Spoon Theory " You can view this at http://www

butyoudontlooksick.com/spoons.htm, I have printed this and given it to

people in my life as well!!
