Guest guest
Listmates, thanks! , I have Movicol at home. I just realised that because of acidosis from Betain his gut can be very irritated. Is it safe to use Movicol or Oxipowder having inflamation in the gut? Son's constant hunger goes down with OoO these days but he still wants to eat lot of carbs. I have problem starting SCD because then he will stick to meat which is not healthy, too. No vegetables can satisfty him, he looses that small weight that he has and becomes irritable. Thanks everyone, again. Guest guest
Hi Oxypowder is much less toxic than movicol and much more gentle on the colon.. I tried it out on my husband who has IBS and oxypowder worked well without side effects.Have you tried food combining.. ie ensuring you are not mixing carbs with animal protein... just that my daughter used to be able to eat us under the table and was always hungry and craving carbs ...until we started a diet approach that Scotson suggested.. simple carbs such as oats with oat milk and stevia for breakfast.. a small amount of either oily fish or meat at lunch with all veg except potatoes.. and an evening meal of NO dairy and NO animal protein but carbs such as basmati rice or spelt pasta with a selection of vegetables... within a few days her hunger was under control .. and her sleep and anxiety levels began to improve too. Just a thought... candex along side oxypowder is good... also consider adding a little diatomaceous earth as this will cleanse the colon and help with inflammation and constipation of colon. I think that until his colon is cleaner, it is really hard to actually identify what supps would make the most difference.. other listmates have suggested slow additions of supps and I support this... keeping a detailed food and mood diary helped to identify potential supps which created more problems... and we soon were able to get a good approach to safe foods and supps... Also have you considered muscle testing to see what foods and supps agree with your son? There are some really good U tube films on muscle testing... This for us has been our most effective measure of tolerances.. and was really important as many intolerances were combinations of things rather than a single thing.. ]]Best WishesTraceyBest Wishes Tracey Listmates, thanks! , I have Movicol at home. Guest guest
Dear , My son has lots of problems, he is 17. He has lots of gut problems . What I found that was useful ...coconut oil...for cooking, baking...you can buy from the health food shop.It contains caprylic acid if I am not wrong and my son is not allergic,so it is good for him.I use regulary probiotics .I can not use Oxy powder ,it is contradicting anti seizure medication.Movicol is very strong stuff so I never used it despite dr recommended. Organic Smooth MOve tea..is also good stuff but it wasn't safe to use for us because my son has seizures.(www.TraditionalMiedicinals.com Lactulose is ok for clearance ,gentle and lots of dietary adjustments absolutely must.Following advice of the members of this valuable list, there are some improvements in the last couple of months.NO longer I am using any laxatives. He is fine.I give meat only lunch time ,dinner may be light chicken soup, or fish with vegetables.Meat is only mince meat type not big chunk.I control carbo.intake, I spread it during the day..include home made biscuits..simply controlling his carbohydrate food is absolute, because it treiggers candida type of behaviour or increase ammonia perhaps...I also focus on liquid intake. He doesn't drink water on its own, so I mix it with some fruit juice..He is on the least supplements so far..It seems to be he look in a good form whatever the reason. His gut looks ok but I know this is fragile state.I also eliminated the foods he showed high sensitivity in the blood test, I think this made a significant improvement. It's a shame I can not use eggs any more and I try to give foods rotatively. Healing the gut is a very very hard thing if child has bacterias, parasities..gut flora possibly badly affected. We are still far away that he is having a healthy one but I notice some improvements, that's why I decided to write. Hope your child feels better. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Dear All, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago. Guest guest
Hi Tracey, We tried to eat carbs separately from protein in past. It made him hypoglemic and irritable right away. Also, he cannot eat small amount of food,ie if I give him meat, it should be really a lot because as I wrote vegetables won't satisfy him. He can eat up to 250gr of meat at once, and this makes me concerned. Only adding a big portion of carbs satiates him. He has really bad gut... Guest guest
, I would consider using soups if possible. Home made chicken broths can help heal the gut and are easily digested. I make vegetable soup that is pureed, which is also easier to digest. I would see about increasing fats. For kids who can digest them (be sure your enzymes have enough lipase) the extra fats (coconut, butter, organic pastured animal fats) can be very helpful for healing and provide much needed calories. Cholestrol is necessary for healing too, so if your son tolerates eggs, try to give him as many egg yolks as you can. One of the things that helped my son gain weight was strawberry icecream: lots of cream, strawberries, honey, and egg yolks. Guest guest
Unfortunately Oxypowder didn't really work for him either. We were told to give him lemon juice with it - but I couldn't manage to get him to take it. Had more success with prune juice, senna for when obviously constipated. But I only used these occasionally and never together. Margaret > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Dear All, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago. Guest guest
around 5000iu long term is bordering on safety levels, I would either halve it or do frequent breaks from it to be on the safe side.> > > > > >> > > > > > Dear All,> > > > > >> > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago. Guest guest
Lots of naturopaths, including one we've used, suggest 50,000 IU daily. My son had chicken pox and was then given the mmr. Chicken pox reduces vitamin A stores severely (esp when many people are already deficient) and a healthy immune response to measles requires sufficient vitamin A. There's quite a bit of research on this. Anita > > > > > > > > > > > > Dear All, > > > > > > > > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago. Guest guest
I should have added, it is very important to be aware of all of the signs/symptoms of toxicity when using vitamin A--at any level. But for some kids, like mine, higher levels have been necessary and helpful. Anita > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Dear All, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago. Guest guest
Margaret, we've used oxypowder quite a bit and never paired it with lemon juice. If things are bad it can take quite a bit over a few days. It seems impossible that anyone, especially a child, could have so much poo in them. With the oxypowder, the belly can look bigger for a bit because of the water being retained, but I have seen my son go from looking 8 months pregnant to having a soft, normal belly in one day with the oxypowder. Guest guest
Movicol worked great here, ds was on it for 10 months or so, no problems. He had been a big gut kid in younger years, but no longer obvious inflammatory problems apart from bad motility/constipation when we started it, so that might be why no problems. Oxypowder didn't work at all for us, tried it several times, no effects.Natasa > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > Dear All,> > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > We started Andy Cutler protocol two years ago.
