I can't remember how long you said you have been doing tae-bo or what your routine was....can you refresh my memory? If you only feel like doing tae-bo 3-4 times I week, I don't see anything wrong with that. At least then you are still doing something and you can always work your way back up to 5-6 times a week (if that's what your goal is). I found that when I was doing all advanced workouts, I was really getting burned out. So, I started alternating advanced and basic days and I found I really enjoyed that much more and actually saw better results. Every body is different and you just have to find what works for you. I know it's hard when we lose our motivation and we start to think we will never reach our goals.....don't you wish sometimes you could just turn off your mind? But, what you have to do is start shifting the focus away from the outside results because sometimes those changes take longer to see and if we only focus on them, we will lose motivation simply because we can't physically see any benefits to what we are doing. Try focusing on smaller changes....do you FEEL stronger? Do the tapes get a little easier each time you do them? Can you do more sets of a particular move then you could do yesterday? Did you hold your balance for a second longer today? Are you in better shape because you are doing tae-bo? Focus on how you feel on the INSIDE....do you feel better about yourself because you are doing something positive for YOU? I know it's hard not to look at the outside and think " yes, but I have X number of pounds to lose and it's just not happening " ....but weight loss doesn't always happen as quickly as we want it to. There are so many factors that go into that equation and it's when we put a time frame on our goals.... " I must lose this amount of weight in this amount of time or else it must not be working " that we fall into that trap of feeling like we are getting nowhere and we want to just throw in the towel and give up. But, in reality.....you are doing so much for your body and soul by working out and getting fit. It may not show right now on the scale, but you are definitely on your way to reaching your goals. Try to look at this as a way of life.....a lifestyle....instead of something you are doing to get such and such results. I read this quote in the SkyMall magazine on the airplane this weekend. Some of you may have already seen it...it's one of those successories plaques and it's the one titled " Achievement " . When I read it, I immediately thought of tae-bo and how much it relates to all of us no matter what point we are on our fitness journey. This is what it said: Achievement: Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow. No matter what level you are at with tae-bo....you can always push youself a little bit more. That's what I love about tae-bo...you get a workout no matter if you are a beginner or have been doing tae-bo for years. , if all you have the motivation for right now is 3- 4 days a week of tae-bo then that's ok! Do your workout for those 3- 4 days and be proud of yourself that you are doing it Eventually, you may feel the need to push yourself a little bit and that's when you can add a 5th day or you can start adding advanced workouts into your routine! I hope that you are able to get back on the wagon! Remember, when we fall off the wagon (which we all do at some point in time, so it's nothing to feel bad about), the important thing is that we get back on and continue on our journey. There is no failure as long as you don't give up....and even giving up isn't really a failure as long as we eventually try again Good luck and please post here when you need some extra support and motivation (although you might not want anymore after my long-winded post, huh?) We are always here and there is usually someone going through the exact same thing as you.....so your situation may actually benefit someone else and vice versa! If you don't mind posting your workout routine and your goals...I'd love to hear them again so I can be a bit more specific in trying to help you figure something out that will get you out of this rut! Guest guest
, Since you mentioned you get bored easily, maybe you should try to add other activities, like other exercise videos or a treadmill. The thing is, if you keep forcing yourself to do it, you may become more and more weary of it. I'd say cut down for a little bit on Tae Bo. Try other things, and do Tae Bo Advanced maybe once a week-it can be like your high cardio day. I once took a week and a half vacation from Tae Bo-because I had been doing it nearly every day since I started. When I started doing it again after the week and a half, my technique was so much better and I felt like a million bucks. Whatever you do, you can always email us for support even if it's every day and you just need a nudge! Take care and don't ever give up on yourself! You are not a lost case! Guest guest
, There's nothing wrong with working out 3-4x per week! One workout is better than none, so don't cloud your head with overwhelming expectations of yourself. What I suggest is that, on those " low " days, you commit to doing 10 minutes of a tape...even if you're feeling like not doing it. If, then, you don't want to continue, then turn it off...but, for me, those ten minutes jazz me up enough to keep going. Don't despair! A lot of us have been through that. Take it a day at a time...set small goals for the day...as opposed to " I have to be size X and weigh X pounds by X date. After 6 months, you'll be amazed at how much you've done. Three years, 70 pounds, and 7 sizes ago, I went to a personal trainer to get myself on track. I went to her once a week and worked out on my own twice per week. That helped me a lot to get started and to keep going...even after I stopped working out with her. Hang in there, ! We're here for ya! ;-) F > Hello everyone, > > I sent this e-mail to another Tae Bo list and after some thinking, I thought > I would send it here to so everyone would know what I have NOT been up too. > Why does it get soo hard? Guest guest
Hi Barb, Well, the morning thing is not the issue because I'm a morning exerciser and wouldn't have it any other way. At least that's what it used to be. I'm up at 3-4 am. I work out no later than 4-5 am so I can be done by 5:30 and no later than 6AM so I can start my day. But for some reason, I'm still getting up at 3Am but hanging out on the PC. It could be the PC that I'm letting get in the way. Also, I'll take the suggestion on doing something else during my workout if I get to a point its something I'd rather not do. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Cari!! I had to laugh when you said to try other videos. Would you believe I have almost 200 videos?? I had to go on the exchange to taper them down. I'm running out of space. I'm the queen of changing rotations and then not sticking to them. I do have a treadmill but can't last 5 minutes on it and can't understand why!! I have the energy to do Tae Bo advanced, do weight training, but can't last on a treadmill. Weird or what? Cutting back and doing other things may be what I need right now. I have the mindset that it must be certain videos in my head and next thing you know, I'm out of the race for fitness. I tell you, after these e-mails so far, you guys have me just about ready to go and do Tae Bo basic to get it back together and shake myself up! Guest guest
, I'm going to save this post of yours in a brand new folder and name it " MOTIVATION. " Thanks for everything you said below. I've been doing Tae Bo on and off for a few months and yes at one time did it everyday but only about a week or two. I have to say I did feel burnt out and like I " had " to do it. I think once we start feeling like we have to do this workout or that workout, that's when we take the fun out of it. Yes, I said fun because I have to admit, although I hate to work out, it's fun when I do because Tae Bo is fun, the music is hot, but when I start feeling like I have to do it or I won't get anywhere, I start to lose myself. I looked at the questions below and I have to honestly say, yes, I feel stronger when I stick to it, and yes I am better at the workout. At the end of the workout, I feel really good about myself and I'm jumping around with or whatever workout I've done. I love feeling a sense of accomplishment. You asked about my routine and goals. First and foremost, I'm trying to lose 50 pounds of fat. I'm trying to build muscle and I like to do Tae Bo basic and advanced. If I can fit in 2 advanced and 2 basics, that would be up my alley for right now. On my basic days, I'd do some upper body strength work since I'd use Tae Bo for my leg work. That's about it. Of course, I want the health benefits but I first want to lose weight. I guess I have the same goals as everyone else, huh? Thanks soo much for caring! ) In a message dated 6/20/2000 9:26:47 AM Eastern Daylight Time, slowens@... writes: << , Maybe you started off doing too much? There is no failure as long as you don't give up....and even giving up isn't really a failure as long as we eventually try again Good luck and please post here when you need some extra support and motivation (although you might not want anymore after my long-winded post, huh?) We are always here and there is usually someone going through the exact same thing as you.....so your situation may actually benefit someone else and vice versa! If you don't mind posting your workout routine and your goals...I'd love to hear them again so I can be a bit more specific in trying to help you figure something out that will get you out of this rut! >>

It feels good to see results, so I need to find out what it really is that keeps me stopping. I think some of it is the number of days I'd like to work out, and some of it is getting caught up on the PC. Yes, I have received a gift in such wonderful information and I am going to save all of it to keep in mind when I start to slip and forget. Thank you Elena. Guest guest
You know , that 8 minute Sprint tape might just do the trick. Maybe by the time 8 minutes is up on the days I don't feel like doing anything, it will put me in the mood to go for a half hour. All these suggestions are wonderful! Guest guest
Speaking of problems, maybe you've been through this one then.... The Ab Region! Do you have any problems at all in that area from your pregnancy or otherwise? I have this horrible problem with extra skin, love handles and a bulge. I try not to get discouraged, especially when I look in the mirror, I can see muscle underneath the skin. But did you go through that (or anyone else on the list?) and if so what do you do or have you done to help this area? Help, please! Cari -----Original Message-----From: slowens@... Guest guest
, I have that same darn PC thing. I work at home here, and the first thing in the morning I log on while I have a cup of coffee. I used to not do that, but I have more responsiblities and I figure if I don't log on I will be worrying about work the whole time I'm exercising. So, here I sit, glued to my computer, while the valuable workout time is ticking away. I still end up working out, but WAY later in the day and by then I'm a total grouch because I feel like a lazy bum. Maybe we could make some sort of pact; to not turn on the PC until we've sweat a little? Cari -----Original Message-----From: MsFitQuest@... Sent: Tuesday, June 20, 2000 4:02 PMTo: tae-bo_onegroupsSubject: Re: I need your help (Hi Barb,Well, the morning thing is not the issue because I'm a morning exerciser and wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks. << ,how about just doing the work-out first thing in the morning before you can change your mind or think about it too much?I know I have alot of trouble if I don't just do it early in the day cuz my body for some reason just cannot turn-on later in the day, making it a real effort.Remember, you can modify the work-out to make it more enjoyable. Skip or change moves you do not like. Do it at your pace. Just keep moving for that 30 or 60 minutes, even just dance or walk thru stuff that you don't enjoyBarbwho has made Tae-Bo a daily part of my life style and knows without it, I'd have a much worse life style >> As Deb has said: "Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step."Visit our new vault site http://taeboon.isportsdot.com/
Guest guest
Woops! Sorry -I had no idea you had so many exercise videos! Cari I need your help ( Hello everyone, I sent this e-mail to another Tae Bo list and after some thinking, Ithought I would send it here to so everyone would know what I have NOT been uptoo. Why does it get soo hard? I really need the motivation and don't know howto keep it going and not stop. Here is the e-mail I sent below. Also, I'mon digest on some lists, so it may take a little while longer for me to getto reply. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I dropped off the exercise wagon onceagain (I'm soo sick of myself!!!) and trying to get back on. I haven't answered any e-mail in a week except private e-mail. The reason I got the Tae Bo basics was to help me to stay motivated. I was alternating with theadvanced and upper body strength work. Yes, Tae Bo is fun, but for me I wouldprefer to do it 3-4 times a week. Sometimes less. I get bored easy no matterthe workout. Right now, I'm trying to do it over again and I'm soo frustrated with myself!!! I'm almost ready to throw in the towel feeling I'll neverget to my goals because I keep stopping. Just at the moment when I see alittle bit of results, I stop again. My eating is horrible and I know what toeat and how I should eat. I am soo sorry to have come back with this attitude after the nice welcome, but this is what's been happening over the pastweek. I really don't feel like I'll ever get there. I really don't. Am I alost cause? I'm just really feeling bad about myself and in the dumps now and don't know where to start again or if it's worth it. >> As Deb has said: "Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step."Visit our new vault site http://taeboon.isportsdot.com/
Guest guest
Hi Barb, Part is that I don't have my priorities straight. I have the time, I just waste it. You sleep until 5? I have this horrible problem with extra skin, love > handles and a bulge. > Cari, I still have a little bit of extra skin on my lower abs. And my hip area is my biggest problem area...it's genetic...all of my aunts carry their weight through the hips/legs. Unfortunately, it's the last area to firm up, so it's a work in progress! TQ has said time and time again that her stomach was the last place to firm up....she had that extra skin for awhile, but it is possible to get rid of it. Just keep focusing on using your abs during all the moves in tae-bo. I also do one of the ab machines at the Y that I think is helping firm up my stomach. For me, although it's irritating to have that last bit of skin hanging there....it's an effect of having my daughter, which I would never change, so I don't stress about it as much. In fact, I'm probably the only one who even notices the extra skin....it's that whole " too critical of myself " thing...LOL! Just be patient....you can firm up those regions, but it's going to take lots of time and it will probably be the last thing to come! You can do it, though....so don't write it off as a lost cause!
