Hi everyone, I'm a new member in this group. I have made my own cosmetics

using essential oils, for 15 years, now I think it's time to try my hand at

perfume. I joined this group for inspiration and direction.

Jean

I'm right there with you! Skin care, body care, soap, etc. And now perfume.

Have you tried blending anything yet??

Hi Sonsa,

You asked me if I had blended anything yet, I guess I'm what you could call a

primative perfumer, I dab a few drops of lavender oil behind my ears, and hope

for the best.

When I moved into my wooden house(had been empty for over a year) and had it's

own special smell) I mixed some lavender and fennel together, to make a room

spray, I know use it as a laundry spray too.  That got me thinking of making my

own perfumes.

I live in Denmark, and there is a perfume course on the mainland, but on the far

west coast, it would be easier to fly to England, does anyone know of a good

beginner perfume course in England?

If you're going to fly somewhere anyway; how about the perfume course in

Italy??

I've never posted before (other than my intro) but if you are interested in

Salaam Attar's course in Italy, perhaps I can help. I took the course at the end

of May and it was a wonderful experience. Salaam is an inspiring, gifted teacher

and the location was perfect. I highly recommend it. If you have any questions,

feel free to ask.

Hi Cyndy,

I'm in Austin, Texas.

I have hep c and hemochromotosis.

54, divorced two children son 24 and daughter 15.

Five dogs (my babies) and one awsome cat - Da Baby.

I married the devil and moved to hell - but I won't go there. LOL

I love books and listening to my son play guitar and my daughter play violin.

I am a Virgo, August 28.

My mother has psorisis, and my son has IBS.

I hear Oregon is beautiful. Down here the city closes down when it snows, no

one knows how to drive on it and there are so many wrecks. It's mostly ice.

Hi  Cat,

I am LMay I have a list as long as my arm.  But I can't remember then right now.  I do have a lot of trouble with my memory due to a lot of small strokes. I am 59 married no kids on this earth been on crying jag for a month makes memory worse. Welcome to a great bunch of cyber friends.

  LMay

Hello all.  My name is Cat.  I am 35 years old, married with 3 kiddos - ages 15, 11 and 10.  I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic headaches, swelling, bipolar disorder, OCD, BPD.  I feel like walking alphabet soup some days LOL.

I have difficulty getting around any more now.  I feel like an 80 y/o.  No offense to those that are older.  I am partially housebound due to the fibro, chronic fatigue, headaches and the mental illnesses.  Anyone with ideas on still having a quality life would be great :D

The Body for Life book has the basics on nutrition. as does their website

Transformation dot com.

The ABS diet book has a good detail on it. Also check out " clean eating "

To start. 1. Get rid of all sugared drinks and soda. Stick to mostly water,

a gallon a day.

2. get rid of most processed food. go for simple stuff like baked meats and

veges and fresh fruits and veges.

5-6 small meals balanced proteins and carbs

Welcome Gayle! I read the Original Body For Life book and followed both the

eating and exercise program. It is a comprehensive program that makes you eat

clean and get results. The results aren't necessarily fast but they are long

lasting.

The biggest thing for seeing dramatic change is getting your portions under

control. It's possible to be a " healthy overeater " meaning you make good

food choices but your portions are big enough that there's no calorie

deficit and nothing happening change-wise.

Here's the cautionary tale on healthy overeating:

Not Seeing Results... What Are You Eating?

http://tinyurl.com/2qzmpe

Here's a link to the Body for Life nutrition info:

http://bodyforlife.com/nutrition/index.asp

It will give you recommended foods, sample meals, recipes and grocery lists.

Read the Bill " Body for Life " book too. It covers everything in

more detail. There's also a cookbook called " Eating for Life " that has lots

of good info.

Wow, thanks for the information. I am going to commit myself here shortly to

eating much healthier, meaning no ordering out and not too much beer...college

student staples...I will read that book, I know it will be helpful.

Wow, this is a big change from the advice I got here about 3-4 years ago to eat

more if I wasn't losing on the food and exercise I was doing with BFL... That's

when I left BFL and found Leigh Peele... It still took me a while to accept that

my deficit, although at least 500 cal/day, was not enough for MY body and level

of sedentary lifestyle beyond my exercise hour, to show a loss. (I just spend

too much time during the day at laptop at home, and at work on computer, so just

have to move more in between, and eat less if I don't deserve the extra food

from the extra burn)

and ... to hear about your garden... great to see your growth, even as

moderator for BFL forum... but glad to read in your blog that you'll still put a

Cadbury chocolate egg on your little plate!

Hi

that's pretty much my background experience of EOs etc.

I've learnt immensely from the conversations and very generous sharing of so

many skilled NPers here.

Be sure to go through all the old files... it's a treasure trove!

Hi Stef!

Start poking around in the files whenever something comes up in a thread which

is new to you.

Be sure to get yourself a copy of Many Aftel's book Essence and Alchemy... it's

the ideal book to help you start understanding natural perfumery.

Readng the blogs of natural perfumers will give you an insight into what and how

established perfumers think and work.

Be sure to take notes of EVERY blend you make... what you put into it, how it

changes and progresses, how it makes you feel.

Nice to have you here!

Hi ,

Don't panic...it's nothing at all...we all (mostly) take Spironolactone and

no need for adrenalectomy. While Dr. Grim is here no worry at all.

WE have been here since 2002. Must not have searched very hard.Anyway welcome.I just found this group today after a google search landed me at NORD. Anyway, I was diagnosed with PA in 2007. Tumor on left adrenal though AVS could only get blood from left adrenal did not know if any aldosterone was coming from right adrenal. Recommended an adrenalectomy. Surgeon was content to wait six months as my blood pressure was high normal. Nephrologist scared me to death debating whether I should have surgery or take meds. I ended up waiting about six months and getting pregnant. Aldosterone is supressed in pregnancy so no BP issues. Lost that baby at 11 weeks and decided to try a 30 day juice fast/cleansing program. It was a bit tough, but I felt great and my BP was phenomenal. Generally around 105/65. I was thrilled. AFterward when I started normal eating it went up a bit and I ate mostly vegan for a few months. Got the flu and it was normal for the next two months when I got pregnant again. Normal pregnancy, healthy baby and yet BP was somewhat up afterward. I did a 27 day juice fast/raw food diet with no herbs since I was nursing. While juicing and eating totally raw BP is down in the 105/65 range. Add cooked veggies and it went up a little and then with normal eating stayed around 130/85. I would get occasional high readings, but after sitting a few minutes, a few deep breaths it was down to high normal. At Christmas I went to the dr. with another issue and BP was high. Decided I neeed to revisit the whole PA thing again. Tried to get dr. to retest Aldosterone levels after my fast, but they wouldn't. Today they called telling me my labwork came back with low potassium - 2.9. Now I really feel that the tumor is there and I have PA. Anybody ever try anything natural to deal with this situation? At this point I am not against an adrenelectomy, but would really like to know what my quality of life will be after and what meds I would require. I am pretty healthy otherwise. Have 5 kids 14 months - 10 years and want to be able to keep up with them. What is the recovery like for the adrenelectomy? , which adrenal would you

have removed? Oftentimes, an

adrenal tumor can be non-producing and a producing one can be the size of a

grain of sand. If you are

contemplating surgery, you need an accurate AVS.

I was told to get my left adrenal removed, but since they couldn't sample the

right I was scared to have one taken out. I was in western MA and there was

only one radiologist in that part of the state who could do AVS so it was not

worth having it redone.

Had problem getting digest of messages to my email so just saw this message.

Thank you to all who replied. I am so thankful to have found this group. I see

the endocrinologist on the 14th and will update you at that time.

Just a quick question. While I was reading either here or NORD i saw a comment

that Dr. Grim generally doesn't recommend surgery. I haven't been able to find

it again. I have not read everything in the files yet, but am working my way

through.

Just for the record I am 40 yo female home educating 5 children from 10 years

down to 14 months while moving all over as a military wife.

Thanks,
