Hi Pat! Welcome to the forum! I hope your albumen is ok and that you can start taking in more protein and that your liver is not badly damaged. When are you going to have that biopsy done? Please keep us updated as to how you are doing,, ok? hugs, jaxPat D <dunhams03@...> wrote: I am new here thought I would say hi. I have known about my hep c for about 10 years but had no symptoms. Welcome to the group Pat , I am one of the co-owners here and I do the research for the group . If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask . How is your amonia level ? That is what they generally use to determine if a protein restricted diet is needed . Your legs swelling , is that from excess fluid ?

Dear Pat D: I'm sorry that your getting some of the symptons and side

effects from the HCV that many of us have. In addition to dealing with

your medical issues, I would strongly urge to consider applying for SS

Disability and Medicare (Medicaid?). I waited over two years before I

realized that I could no longer work. This was due to my walking

ability, loss of balance, great fatigue within a few hours of awakening,

PLUS dealing with all the aspects of tx, reaching svr and relapsing

after each of my three tx's. I now have retained an attorney, to be paid

ONLY if successful (good deal all around), and have filed for the above.

If I am successful, I could get reimbursed for the past 2 years at

appriximately $1080.00 per month, which is a nice chunk of change. My

psychologist and Doctor both think it is an excellent idea, and that

there is no intent of fraud or lying. So, the sooner you get going on

this, the sooner you may get income and insurance. I highly recommend

using a reputable local attorney, who will work your case without pay,

unless successful. If I get this, it will really help ease some

problems, both financial and mental (guilt, sorrow, self-pity,

difficulty facing my wife, etc.) btw, I still have leg pains and

difficulty walking. I take Lasix for the swelling, which gets intense at

times, but now seems controllable. However, I have to rest several times

a day and elevate my legs above my heart for the swelling. That could

not be accomplished at most work places! Best of luck and please, please

keep all of us informed of your progress.

he swelling is an effect from low albumen which the liver makes. A sick

liver doesn't make enough. I guess the albumen makes the fluid in the

veins and arteries stay in there.

Low Albumen causes the fluid to leak out in legs and also aroound

stomach and lungs. Thanks for the interest should get the biopsy next

week. Can I drice myself home after.

Hi Pat and Welcome! We are glad you are here. This is a good place to look for answers and support. The group stands behind its people and we are genuinely concerned about you. What puzzled me about your letter is if your albumen level is at 2.1 then why didn't your dr. give you a shot to pick it back up? My Hep Dr. consideres anything under 2.6 to be in need of immediate attention. When is your biopsy? Please let us know the minute you have your results. I'm sure there is someone here who can relate and help you get the treatment you need and deserve. Hogs and Kisses Steve B...

Hi Pat I have always had low albumen and my feet sometimes swell along with my hands and face, but mine is because I was born with only one kidney so it cannot keep up as fast with the fluids that I could if I had both kidneys.. but so far, 4 years post tx and still SVR.. YEAHHHH jaxPat D <dunhams03@...> wrote: he swelling is an effect from low albumen which the liver makes. A sick liver doesn't make enough. Steve, what kind of shot does your doc give you for the albumen? Never heard of that and now I want to know because my albumen is always low and so is my dad who is on dialysis for kidney failure. jaxSteve Bridgers <stevebridgers@...> wrote: Hi Pat and Welcome! Rick I totally agree with you on the SSDI... the sooner you get going on it, the sooner you will get it,, and it will take awhile to get it in most cases.. I know that Liz got it the first time she applied, I was turned down 3 times even when the docs and psychiatrists that THEY sent me to said I could not work, they just delayed, delayed, delayed.. but I was very fortunate that the company I worked for provided assistance for me to obtain it.. and then I paid them back with the back money I received when finally approved. But they said that if I went to the ALJ and he turned me down that I wouldnt owe them anything... but thank God when the ALJ saw my paperwork, he was really angry that those making the decision refused me when it was clear by all that they had sent me to that I could not work... then they re-eval med at 18 months and once again, they tried to send me to a doc over an hour away who was NOT REQUIRED to even read any of my past medical

history and to eval me again.. I called the local SSDI attorney here in town and he told me WHY I should NOT GO to that doc appt, what to do and then I had my gallbladder removed. So when they did that, they also did another liver biopsy so I just did what he told me , wrote them a letter and sent a copy of my biopsy. Well this lady called and threatened me because I had not shown up for this doc appt. I followed exactly to the letter what the attorney told me to do and they did in fact find that I was still disabled and stopped harrassing me. The attorney also told me that if you are on SSDI when you turn 50, that if you had NEVER worked a desk job, which I handnt, that they could NOT MAKE you take a desk job that they considered to be less strenous of a job.. without going to this attorney, I probably would have lost my ssdi.. Do not let them get you down, even if they deny you, just keep appealing over and over... do not give up, thats

what MY OWN physician told me, and we did not give up.. good luck, Ihope you get your ssdi quickly! hugs jaxRick Kipp <rickkipp@...> wrote: Dear Pat D: I'm sorry that your getting some of the symptons and side effects from the HCV that many of us have. Driving yourself is out of the question because they give pain meds during the procedure . Besides your not gonna feel 100% and having someone to drive you will help you feel better .

Hi Cheryl!

It is very easy to get out of our routines. I went on

vacation in May and really have been struggling every

since. And, I'm going away again in about a week and

a half - just as my motivation has returned. I guess

I'll just keep at it!!

Nice to have you here!

Hi Cheryl and welcome to the group!!

It is great to hear you've been motivated by this group too, I know it works for me! How do you like Step Reebok the Video and how would you describe it in terms of choreography complexity and exercise intensity? I like step workouts but they have to be very simple or I fall all over myself, get frustrated and go do something else! :-)

Welcome again!

Reading all of my first posts from this list motivated me to do my step aerobic workout that I have pushed aside for several days now. When I am in my working out mode I like to do aerobics every day; if I don't do it every day I easily get out of the habit. Well, I started back up a couple weeks ago and was into my second week of doing yoga and step aerobics every day when we had some work done in our house with noxious vapors and workmen in and out, so I quit doing it. And it's been hard getting back into the routine of working out ever since the workers have been gone and I've had the opportunity to actually get back to it (although I have to shut the door because there's still toxic vapors in the house). So, I did Yoga Zone Yoga for a Strong and Healthy Back a little earlier this evening, and then after reading your posts I knew I could keep going and I did Step Reebok The Video.

Thank you for motivating me! This is so important to me.

Welcome, Cheryl! I'm new too, and this is a friendly group. I really enjoy that Yoga Zone workout (actually, I enjoy all of them that I have tried- so user friendly).

Another hot and humid day, and I'll have to push myself to get a workout in. And to do the vacuuming and mopping...ick.

, that is funny! Did you do Ab Jam for your workout, too? LOL I love the first part - I've never had a standing abs workout before, so this is all pleasantly new to me. I still haven't tried the rest of the dvd yet, but I'll get there eventually.

, who is grateful that there is at least a breeze today.

, who is grateful that there is at least a breeze today.

I think we're living the same life in different countries. I could have totally written your last two sentences and then just signed it like this...

in Michigan who is off to do that workout right now!

Nope, but I did do abs!!! ( Sansone's Shortcuts Ab Workout.) I'm not familiar with Ab Jam, I'll have to check it out, I like standing abs work.

I don't know if there is a breeze here, I haven't been outside yet. Have to take my DS to his tutor in a few minutes though so I'll get to find out. I love summer, I just hate humidity!
