Guest guest
Even if the temperature close to the ground is below freezing, it can still rain because the air mass not too far upward might be warm abd thus the mositure falling from the clouds may be warmer. Also, pollutants and salt particles in the air can have a minor effect on whether or not rain can freeze and turn to snow. (The dirtier or saltier it is, the less likelyhood of water freezing at freezing temperatures. Tom Well, it's kinda grey, in the 40's. We had rain the night before last which turned to ice and caused some branches and trees to fall which then caused some power outages. When I got to work we were without power until 11:00 am so I went into a room that had a couch and took a nap while everyone was eating donuts and coffee and chatting about the weather! They were happy, I was happy. But it always rains or sleets but never snows!!! I can't figure out why it is always 33 degrees F here and rains but is never 32 degrees F here and snows. Can a meteorologically savvy person here please explain this phenom? Hmm, see, my small talk progressed to medium talk then deep talk! Guest guest
>: "Can a meteorologically savvy person here please explain this phenom?"No, but I'll try! It takes a lot of 'energy' to go from liquid water at 32 degrees to ice at 32 degrees. It's physics that I have forgotten over fifty years of not using. See: http://www.edinformatics.com/math_science/water_ice.htmMaybe this will help...... Rainbow
Guest guest
Thank you! That finally explains something I've been wondering for several years! > > Well, it's kinda grey, in the 40's. Guest guest
First off, it's Kotkin, not Copperfield. That's his real name. I like to call him that whenever I see him, and I also like to call the guy who designed a lot of his illusions by his real name too. Andre Kole's the guy who designed a lot of his illusions, and his real name is Gurtler. If you want to know how he vanished the Statue of Liberty, you have to be able to come up with $10,000 for the secret. I haven't been able to come up with that kind of money, so I don't know either. God bless, Irelan DSL Something to write home about. Just $16.99/mo. or less

Guest guest
I forgot to welcome you to the group . It's the holidays, so things are a little slow right now. They ought to pick up soon.
