Yes , a sudden large weight gain is only water bloat just as a sudden

large weight loss is only water loss cuz fat doesn't go on and off so quickly.

As far as the binging, although you feel it was just emotional, maybe just

maybe, your metabolism needed the extra fuel too, especially while adapting

to this new menstrual cycle. Your metabolism has been supercharged since

starting your weightloss and TB so don't fret about what you do on days that

your will seems weaker.

If you are usually making healthy food choices and exercising regular,

what you eat on any one day (or three) isn't going to affect the big picture

that much but fretting over the scale can ruin what could have been a

perfectly good day too.

,

Congrats on losing that pound. You broke the 170 barrier....which means in no

time you'll b working on that 160 barrier. For some reason I always get stuck

at those...but it feels great to bust em.

You know your eating the last few days might have had a purpose. When I don't

feel well I eat MUCH more and I think its because my body needs more nourishment

during those times.

Remember in those bloated says to cut out excess sodium and caffine and drink

extra water!!!! Yes, the water weight is only temporary, but if you feel bad

about yourself during those times (which you shouldn't) then maybe you need to

take some extra steps to avoid them.

I'm going through that time right now <sigh> and yes I am eating much more than

normal.

Yesterday I had a PB & J for breakfast, Lunch was two slices of pizza (I did take

all the meat, olives and some cheese off) and dinner was <;_(> a shared awesome

blossom appetizer at Chili's (my favorite) a salad and ahalf a plate of lettuce

wraps (I love those too) and a Calypso Cooler (another Fave)

Then I also had a serving of pineapple and a whole package of sun dried

tomatoes.

I think probably the big unhealthy choices were the drink and the

appetizer....but I had a large quantity of the healthy stuff while I was at it.

We all do it...and I think there is a reason for eating more during those times.

We just need to know not to continue the pattern after a few days.

Hey ,

It doesn't sound like you ate that much to me! I love those onion things at

Chili's! Have you ever had the " guiltless chicken pita " ? OMG, it is soooooo

good !!!!

Anyway, what happened with me, it wasn't about hunger or needing more

calories. It was 100% emotional. I had an outright binge, feeling miserable

the whole time I was eating. I usually eat a pretty large amount of food and

don't feel bad because I usually make healthy choices. You guys would have to

hear what I ate Saturday to understand what kind of binges I have. I had just

gotten off the phone with my dad. I told him that I had lost 75 pounds. He

said, " Wow, now let's see you keep it off " . That really hurt me. (This is the

same dad that when I told him I got 108% in one of my classes said, " Do you

think it is because you are really smart or everyone else in the class is

really dumb? " Ouch!) I had already been feeling insecure because of some

things people had said to me as " jokes " . With the weight gain, people's

jokes at work, and then my dad's remark, I lost it!! I ate 5 glazed donuts

and a 4 pieces of pizza over a 2 hour period. I was not hungry. I don't know

why I ate that way. But this is a pattern that I have followed my whole life.

I would get upset, eat until I got sick, and then starve myself for days. I

have gotten so much better this past year. In fact, I can't remember the last

time I went on a binge like this. I forgot what my point was! Oh ya, I don't

think my eating was my body needing more food. I think I am just plain

mental! LOL! Wow, that was all really embarrassing to admit, especially the

donut part! I just wanted you guys to see what one of my binges are. I'll

quit rambling now =)

, I'll have to try that guiltless Pita!!!

It sounds like your father has some issues. Did his parents ever give him

praise or compliments? Doesn't sound like it. My father is the same way. I

know my grandmother has a big part to play in that. My goshthat woman is the

biggest complainer (don't repeat that Romie).

Maybe in his own way he is trying to compliment you. But nonetheless...next

time somthing like that comes out of his mouth remember that he is incapable of

giving a compliment at the right moment ans since he said whatever he said he

must of tried to say one thus you deserve one...you don't deserve a reason to

beat yourself up.

What have you done over the last few years to deal with emotional binge eating

in other circumstances? My thing now is to climb in the bath tub and then get

into bed for a few hours if I can...or get a cheesy magazine.

I still have some comfrot food though...my favorite being tuna salad sandwhich

from an on campus store her (which is really out of the way now) a big thing of

taffy (can't remmeber the brand...but yummy) and a Diet Dr. Pepper. After that

I usually head to the vending machine for a twix bar or some chocolate gem

donuts. Now I just cut out the trip to the vending machine and drink a diet

canfields chocolate soda.

Heres another idea....take the kids or just yourself to a movie. You can get a

snakc but every thing is SO expensive you won't be able to get too much.

Or you could always get online and vent immediatly to us..like I do with my MIL.

My dad has food/weight issues and was kind enough to pass them on to me and

my sisters! He has gotten a lot better though. He is very proud of me for

losing all of this weight. He is the one who bought me the plane ticket to

old self :(

Hmmmm, good question! Sometimes I pop in the 8 minute tape. Sometimes I have

a good cry. Sometimes I read a book. It varies. Lately I have been pounding

the heck out of my heavy bag! That works wonders!!

I think a big part of my problem is feeling so isolated. We sold our second

car before moving out here. So for the past 9 months, I have not had a car

during the day! I have been totally stuck in the house! Our credit is the

worst so financing a car is not an option. We are FINALLY buying my hubby a

pick up truck in a few weeks. Thank God for tax returns!!!!!!! So soon, I

will be able to get out during the day. I know that will help my emotional

state!

I really appreciate being able to vent here. You guys have no idea how much

your support means to me =)

Recently I've seen or heard about 'those times' when the hormones kick up a

fuss.

It was basically not to worry too much about over eating because of

hormonal changes, because there are equal days when you'll undereat, again

because of our cycles so it'll balance out in the end.

So, , it's partly natural anyway, and there's no need to feel bad

about it.

If I can find details I'll see about posting it, as I suspect it's in a

magazine.

BTW there are 2 very good UK magazines for healthy living one is Zest, and

the other is the UK version of Shape (in my humble opinion is far better

than the US version, because I used to get that too) between them they're a

great source on information.

Take Care

, that father of yours sure could use some more tact. With

That is so true! I wish I could say you'll never have another

binge...but I can't.....sometimes it just happens. What I can say, is

that over time it happens less and less and because you are eating much

healthier overall and because you allow youreself to actually eat and

enjoy the things you want...the cravings aren't as strong and the

tendency to overindulge is not as frequent! But, it will still happen

on occasion....you will have moments where you revert back to that old

way of thinking and you let your emotions dictate what goes into your

mouth! We are human afterall, and after years of having this behavior

seem " normal " to us...it is impossible to think that we will never fall

back into our old habits! But, it does get easier and it will happen

less often and you will come to realize that when it does happen it's

not the end of the world and that the answer is not to starve yourself

to make up for the binge...but to simply get back into your normal

healthy eating habits. You start to understand that a few days of

binging has no long term impact on your overall progress and you become

less and less reliant on the scale as your only means of meausuring

your success. When that happens (and it will) you will have no reason

to beat yourself up because you ate too much for a couple of

days....there will be nothing to make you feel bad...because the thing

that used to make you so upset (the scale) has no power over the way

you feel about yourself anymore! Another thing that I have noticed is

I'm so glad to hear that you didn't let this setback throw you off

track! That is one of the most important signs that you are in fact

healing....that you were able to look at your behavior the past 3 days

and say " you know what, it happened, there's nothing I can do about it

now....so I'm just going to get right back on track " . You are

definitely going to reach your goals because you continue to reach for

them, even when things get tough and try to get in your way :)

Hi -Thanks for the great post. You not only helped , but

you helped me. I haven't been able to get back into a healthy eating

routine since my vacation. It's been along time since I've gone this

long and yes, I always feel lethargic after eating poorly.

I'm not sure what the right answer is for me, at least not at this

moment. What's saving me from gaining a lot of weight, is all the

exercising that I do. But, I can't deny that I've gained weight. I

have and that is disappointing.

I'll stop here, cause I'll start rambling. I just wanted to thank

OCCUPATIONAL ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN AUTO AND DIESEL TECHNOLOGY I DONT USE MY

TALENTS NOW BUT IF I HAD TO I COULD ... ANOTHER TIME WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL WHEN

HE SAID I SOULD BE MORE SERIOUS ABOUT JOURNALISM " LIKE YOUR OLDER SISTER " SO

YOU CAN GET A GOOD CLEAN JOB .... THAT WAS THE LAST DRAW I RESENTED MY SIS

FOR A LONG TIME BECAUSE OF THAT (KNOW WE JUST LOVE EACH OTHER TO BITS) BUT MY

MOM CAME IN WITH HER GOOD SOLID WORDS AND SAID YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT

YOUR MIND TO AND WHEN YOU DO YOUR THE BEST AT IT ....... OK I KEEP BABELING

ON BUT KEEP YOUR CHIN UP AND REMEMBER STICKS AND STONES CAN BREAK YOUR BONES

BUT THE UGLY WORDS OF PEOPLE YOU LOVE WILL SCAR ONLY IF YOU BELIEVE THEM

....... TRUST ME YOU KNOW YOURSELF BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE DOES AND NO ONE CAN

TEAR DOWN YOUR WALL UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO ... AT LEAST THATS WHAT I HAVE

LEARNEDAND I TRY EVERYDAY TO TEACH MY KIDS THE SAME ... NO WAY WILL I LET

THEM FEEL THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH OR SMART ENOUGH NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO GO

THROUGH THOSE FEELINGS........TELL YOURSELF EVERYDAY HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF

YOURSELF AND IF FOR SOME REASON YOU DOUBT IT ASK YOUR BEST FRIEND WHAT THEY

THINK OF YOU I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SMILING WITHOUT A CARE IN THE END

Romie,

You are definitely not alone with the bloating thing! I couldn't figure out

why I was bloating... I just looked at my BC pills, I am a week away from my

period, duh! So, I am not going to panic if I see any gains this week. I hope

you aren't upset about your 4 pounds Romie! They will be gone in no time!

:)

What a great quote!! Those words are so true! I am going to write that down

and tape it to my bathroom mirror. Better yet, I'll tape it to the scale!

But I guess you can't cure an eating disorder over night. I have seen

major improvements since starting Tae-Bo. I am making progress, I guess

that is what matters =)

:)

That's right, !

Congratulations on making it below 170!
