Oh Tonnie, I'm so sorry you're still having so many problems! That's

wonderful that your sister is letting you stay with her. When mom's

sick, it always seems to be hardest on the kids. I'll keep you in my

Hi Kelley. Try not to worry yourself too much about the MTX

injections; they really haven't been that bad for me. I do mine in

the stomach fat right beside my navel, and I use such a small syringe

that the pain is comparable to plucking a hair. (as long as it is

done correctly.) The side effects have not bothered me much; I

usually just feel more drained for a day or two, but I haven't

experienced any nausea and only a few times diarrhea. I did lose some

hair for a while, but that came to an end a few months ago. It didn't

come out in clumps or anything, just lots in the tub and the brush. I

take 2mg Folic Acid a day; this is supposed to help with any side

effects from the MTX. If you are not already on it you may want to

ask your doc about it. I hope this helps to ease your mind a little,

and I hope the injections work out well for you and that you have

good success with it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you ever so much for letting us know how is doing.

I did send her e-mail (more than once) to that address, and it keeps

coming back. It could be something I am doing wrong. It wouldn't be

the first time.

So sorry to hear that she is so sick. She's not felt well for ever so long.

The rate she is losing weight is scary. She may as well stay in pj's until

the weight loss stabilizes, or she will have to be purchasing different

size clothes every month. Besides it sounds as if she doesn't have the

energy to get dressed anyway., or the strength to open the door and

get out. That's not good. Poor .

Will send her a card, I'd phone her, but don't want to feel guilty for

tiring

her even more.

Hi everyone,

I spoke with today. She is doing okay all things considered. She has

had trouble recovering from her surgery and developed an infection and then

her hemoglobin dropped for no apparent reason. She had to have a blood

transfusion to get her count back to normal. They put a new drain in and she

has lost 200 pounds in the past 3 years but she has lost 35 pounds in the

last month since her surgery. She is down to a size 10 and has nothing to

wear, all her clothes just bag on her. She feels worse now than when she

just got out of surgery and will be off the Methylpred in a couple of days.

Not happy about it but it has to go. Her liver enzymes are still elevated,

she has lots of headaches since the transfusion and always feels feint. She

said sometimes she feels like she is going to die because she has absolutely

no energy, not even enough to open the door to get out of the house. I told

her to have her doctor get her qualified for one of those emergency

bracelets you wear and push a

button to alert someone you are in trouble. Her son will be proposing on the

3rd of July. Both he and his fiance' are ministers or studying to be such.

She told me to tell you all that she misses everyone dearly and that while

she is not communicating directly with us daily, she is reading, watching

and looking (lurking). Her email address for those who don't know it is

send emails. Her IM is sassy_lilac_rose. If you add her to your buddy

list on , you can see if she is on and send an IM. Her son was

impressed at how much we care for our members. She tires very easily so be

Thanks for sharing the good news about your father. I'm sure it's a big load

off your mind and your stress level will go down now. I'm glad he's opting

for pain medication as no one should have to experience severe pain without

help. Knowing that your father is on the road to recovery will be such a relief

for you and your mother.

Update

Hi everyone.. I wanted to thank Lynn for sending you all my email on the

research. I was at work when the Dr called. I have been under extreme stress

with my dad's surgery and health coming up so I didn't want to risk forgetting

anything. THANK YOU Lynn for sending that to the group.

Well Dad had his back surgery today and is doing pretty good. He just left

recovery when I left work, so I checked on him before I came home, and he was

pretty out of it, but knew what was going on. He started to give the nurses a

hard time about the pain meds, as he is a recovering alcoholic of about 28yrs

and won't take them.. lol.. I pulled the nurse aside and explained this to her

and she stated that she understood and I told her she might need to force him

to take them, it was obvious to her that he was in pain without me telling

her. I just talked to mom and the nurse called her for something else, but

told

her that dad finally broke down and pushed the button for the pain meds..

YEAH!!!!! lol.. He will be in the hospital anywhere from 5 to 10 days.

After surgery I felt this huge weight being lifted off my chest. Mom has

been worried because of the stress and I worry so much about them. I have

been

so worried about this the last few days I haven't been able to sleep, so

tonight I really hope to sleep good. I am hurting today, but hopefully it

doesn't

get worse.. Sorry this has gotten so long.. I just wanted to share my good

Hey there. My boyfriend and I live in Houston, TX. So we are out of

state. We were thinking of coming in the day of the Preop appt (which

would be the day before my surgery on the 12th of August) but then I

thought that would be a bad idea to fly in on the day of an appt

because what happens if the plane gets delayed. We are flying into

LAX and then the hospital will be picking us up with their Limo

service...is this your first surgery or a revision?

Mike,

There is a support group meeting in Ukiah (45 miles north of you) on

August 1st I believe..and Dr. K will be there. It has been moved but

will be at the Assembly of God. They usually start at 6pm. Hope this

works for you. It's a lot closer then Delano to you.

THIS WILL BE MY FIRST. WE WILL ARRIVE THE DAY BEFORE

SURGERY, BUT WE WILL DRIVE. I'VE BEEN TO THE SUPPORT

GROUP IN SANTA ROSA, AND IT WAS PRETTY GOOD. ALOT OF

I'VE HEARD ABOUT THE GROUP IN UKIAH, BUT WAS INFORMED

THE HOSPITAL WOULD NOT BE THE MEETING PLACE ANYMORE.

I'LL TRY TO MAKE THE AUG. MEETING IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

I THINK THEY MEET THE 1st FRIDAY OF THE MONTH. I'VE

BEEN TO THE SANTA ROSA GROUP MEETING, AND THOUGHT IT

WAS GREAT.
