Thanks Bob - some of us do speak with those at AS and even work on

some much needed projects, but we are not the enemy. Marty is

not " one of them " , but he is friends with some at AS, and as a loyal

friend will stand up when needed.

Hey JB,

I agree with what you wrote below EXCEPT I don't think Marty is a mole.

I am sure he communicates with " Ms. Singer " . That doesn't mean he is in

lockstep with Autism Speaks. I know for a fact he is not. He and I

disagree on a lot, but I respect him as a parent.

As to the rest of it, right on, JB. Institutional arrogance is the tip

of the iceberg. The problem is structural and goes back to the very

origins of the organization. Look where the initial seed money came

from. And it did not come from NAAR, although NAAR certainly solidified

the problem.

Let's move on to build something better.

Thank you. By the way, you don't need to take those books, or if you

want, take them and then do what you want, anyway. I suspect you will

keep your independence no matter what.

Again, Alison is from the metro NY area, as is Marty, just as

says. Isn't it possible to have a friend who is with another Autism

oiorganization, or are we all just supposed to stop being friends?

Separate out some of this idealogy to see some of the " real " people on

the inside.... We are all in this together and we are all parents

going through the same things.

Keep being friends, but educate them. I'm all for sitting down and

talking about it. I offered to come to NY to talk to AS at one point.

I see real people every day. Had a 1 hour phonecall from a parent

sobbing on my phone today telling me that she knows he's autistic.

Not talking, toe walking, spinning objects. Nobody will give her a

diagnosis or let her in for six months. That's real. That's what I

do every day.

Thank you for continuing to do your great work, . And keep

speaking out. You and the other great community groups that are out

there for parents - big groups and small - are the soul of the Autism

There is no mystery here nor anything to hide. After reading 's

e-mail I wrote to AS and asked about the situiation. I am not sure

how this translates into all the hoopla about this.

Anyone can agree or disagree with what I wrote but my words are how I

feel not how anyone at AS feels. In fact I am not sure exactly how

they feel on this as I did not ask.

PS JB feel free to contact me anytime if you want facts so you can

make more informed decisions about my actions.

I noticed on their 990 the artists formerly known as NAAR maintain an

office in the Great White North. Could it be possible that be where

the " merchants of Tarshish " are channeling their flow of jack to

circumvent U.S. tax reporting? Not an accusation, mind you, but a

question.

I can't wait until all these pro-CAA organizations are forced to

divulge their 2006 and 2007 tax info.

Wow, I am reading some of the comments attacking Marty's character like " Hand in

the

cookie jar " Come on. This is nonsense and baseless JB. You make these baseless

claims

like Oprah having strong moral fiber, but when you are challenged to debate it

you refuse

to. What do you know about Marty where you can say someone put him up to it?

Marty's

experience with insurance was very helpful in getting the NY insurance bill

passed. I didn't

care what he thought about thimerosal when we were working on the insurance

bill. I

know he was focused on making it happen and collaboration worked for these kids

and

families. You guys are attacking the wrong person with baseless claims and owe

Marty an

apology in my humble opinion.

One question Marty, have you had the porphyns test done on your son

AND daughter? I think if you have the guts to do this and the

results come back A-Ok, then I'll see some validity to your strong

opinions. But if not, then you are keeping your head in the sand,

perhaps because the truth can potential hurt your professional

reputation and you personally as a parent. Your son may be heavy

metal toxic. If you found that out what would you think then?

You seriously don't see anything wrong with putting in a call to

your buddies at AS to get the skinny about a post you saw on here -

then coming back to post the company name, show off that you know

the scoop, and critisize the person who is asking for feedback on

the situation she is in?

I appreciate the fact that some of the people I respect the most on

this group have come to your (character) defense, but if you don't

see what the " hoopla " is all about, it speaks volumes about you and

your " opinions " .

That is fine. Guts have nothing to do with this. I would never presume to challenge you to do any medical test for your child.

In some ways I don't blame you - it rocked my world too. I know

I've not been the nicest to you on the last few posts (I think we're

all up in arms about the proceedings today), but I really do wish

you would have the tests done. Especially since you're not

convinced either way and at least this way you would have a better

idea. It would be good to know - just for you.

No I don't. What is the isssue or secret with the company name?

Trust me you can call anything how you see it, that is fine with me.

Regardless of what you think of AS as an organization some of the people

who work there are my friends and are good people. How about that.

Oops missed something:

I think guts has everything to do with it. It takes guts to find

out the truth one way or another. I would appreciate someone

telling me to give it a try - to have the guts to find out for

sure. Not focus on how it happened, but if it's there or not (heavy

metal toxicity). I feel like it took a lot of bravery on my part to

have the tests done and to look them over and then to do something

about it. Much more guts than not knowing and always wondering...

I would recommend urinary porphyrin profiling to all parents, too. But

some kids have disorders not caused by mercury. It is something else,

possibly environmental.

From my discussions, Marty is aware of all this. I will say this about

him, unlike some others Marty does not stand in the way of those of us

who believe that our kids were injured by vaccines.

These are complicated issues and each parents has to find his or her

own way.

By the way, I have seen a number of porphryin profile reports that show

no mercury toxicity - although the majority do show it.
