hi.. as far as I am concerned.. cindy.. follow your heart and your gut. I would not allow an affiliation with an organization that denies what is evident. the thimerosol and mmr link to spectrum disorders. They won't even go there on biomedical...LiaSee what's free at AOL.com.

Don't be paranoid , Autism Speaks speaks for us all....

er. I just threw up in my mouth a little...

That is very interesting... and unprofessional. I would pay them a personal visit and ask them why they sent your email on... of course we know why...

AS has their claws in everything.

Honestly, you would do better to run a local fundraising campaign for the books... our local group just got a grant for books to donate to our library, I will ask them thru who --its wasn't AS.

but heck, put up collection tins in local stores, etc... there is better money than their dirty money.

are you serious? I am sorry you feel this way.

I understand the e-mail was forwarded to Autism Speaks by an

Alcoa employee who saw it posted on an Alcoa bulletin board/intranet.

You can’t blame AS for that.

More importantly and to the point of this e-mail, this

matter has nothing to do with morale fiber. If books are needed that is

more important than your ego.

AS has in fact donated books, videos, and all sorts

of materials to many parent libraries. If you disagree with the philosophy

or methods of the organization that is fine but don’t allow families to

suffer by rejecting a generous offer. What is more important to

you?

As for you comment of “Are they trying

to silence me?” I really don’t get the basis

of that comment.

I know you harbor intense rage as is evident by many of your

posts but I fear it is now clouding your judgment in what your real mission is.

need the books.... however, my moral fiber says NO THANK YOU.

(and my brother works there in a Director capacity as well) made its

way to Autism Speaks.

I say accept the offer so long as YOU can choose the books they want

to help out with (including many copies of EOH and books by DAN!

doctors that can truly help other parents). If they control the

decision of what books - then no, I wouldn't be a part of that.

Still I question why the employee felt the need to forward it to AS when was saying she wanted money to stay more local. Was someone pissed? It doesn't make sense other than that, someone was mad she was skipping the Walk this year...

I don't have much info on the whole thing, don't know who you are.. just random thoughts.

I agree with 100% we need to start collecting funds locally that go to local people... I am losing trust BIG national Orgs like AS.

I take no offense at all to your question. I am a parent of a child with autism and a long time advocate for all individuals affected by ASD's. For background and many on this list know I was a former Trustee of NAAR. However, my comments were not about the organization but about putting aside differences in certain circumstances if the act helps families in need.

As for the employee, I have no idea why the e-mail was forwarded.

I do agree that there is universal truth in the need to start collecting funds locally that go to local people.

I trust this is responsive.

I don't recall saying " ALCOA. " However, maybe you work there because

it's accurate. I will most definitely be investigating that, you can

bet on it.

I'd tell you to shove it up your A*$ but it seems your head is already

up there. If you're on this board, then you realize that I'm not the

only one who has issues with AS. I'd rather PURCHASE THE BOOKS MYSELF

than take money from them.

My judgment is not clouded -- yours is, and I think most people on

this board would agree with me.

Marty is just expressing his personal opinion, not defending AS or any

other organization.

I know both and Marty - both are strong, honest and devoted

advocates for our kids. Maybe they don't see eye to eye on everything,

but so what.

The best place to direct questions about AS's mission is to AS and

their people, not Marty.

I don't think anyone put Marty up to it. Marty speaks his mind. So does

. They both have the right idea about what we should be doing as a

community to help our kids.

This is a tempest in a teapot. Let's not lose focus - I fear I see an

escalation coming on that will not be productive. But I do know that

Marty is no shill.

By the way, personally, I don't agree with Marty on this one, but I

respect his opinion.

Hey, . Sure, Marty may not agree with the vaccine hypothesis. But

I don't think he would actively stands in its way either. It is very

possible his kids were not the victim of vaccine poisoning. That

doesn't mean he is the enemy. He was with NAAR but NAAR is no more.

Now it is Autism Speaks and Marty, as far as I know, is not part of

that organization.

Let's cool it on this tempest in a teapot.

Why are you questioning Bob? Don’t you think Bob knows what he is talking about?

Bob is from Long Island.

Bob is right- you should question AS- not waste your time going after Marty.

Marty isn’t “wearing a mask”- he’s posted before about who he is.

I don’t agree with what he wrote btw. But, you guys are jumping to conclusions- alittle bit.

I have no problem with AS people reading or posting here. But, if

you are a mole and you accidentally out yourself by revealing that

you know more about a situation than you let on, prepare to be

skewered.

The most annoying part of this whole story for me is that Ms. Singer

did not try to engage you in what your issues with AS might have

been, she simply tried to bribe you by fulfilling a request they had

previosuly been silent upon. It's that institutional arrogance.

Ms. Singer is the same person who encouraged the s to put a

statement about on their website and wrote the statement. I

guess that makes her 2 for 2, in a Cleveland Cavalier sort of a way.
