Guest guest
Did you know Glenn Beck has a special needs daughter? Just a word of caution: Apparently " An Inconvenient Truth " is not all that truthful. I have not watched it but I watch Glenn Beck on CNN Headline news and he has done several stories on how the facts are wrong. the only specific I remember is that the movie says that the water levels will rise 20 feet but experts say only 20 inches. Glenn Beck is a conservative but he tells it like it is. If anyone could convince him to look into Autism/Mercury it would be a great media coup. Guest guest
Hi Debi, The question that challenges the theory that we (people) have caused global warming since the climate has changed many times throughout history is specifically addressed in this movie. I really think you owe it to yourself to watch the movie. A friend of mine always believed in global warming but then got side tracked by these arguments being made, mostly by extreme conservatives, and the scientists are mostly employed by the oil companies, etc. Seeing the film, they show you exactly the levels that occurred in the past compared to now and how this is not comparable in any way to any past event that happened naturally. The film is very easy to watch and understand, which is why it has gotten such rave reviews. Too often, the information is so confusing to listen to (if you don't understand all the talk concerning the science) and it can easily be further confused if someone else enters the mix and begins to confuse you further. The way the film is layed out is in a way that an elementary student could 'get it'. BTW...I am not implying that you or anyone else wouldn't get it otherwise...I am just saying that the film is an easy watch, easy to understand, and easily conquers any argument against it. I think it says alot that since the movie opened, even Bush has come out and said that global warming does need to be addressed. Other conservatives are also on board now. They may not like Al Gore, but the information he gives is hard to argue. Guest guest
Deb, They also purchse their energy through " green " sources...which obtains the majority of their power through sources that do not release mercury into the air....such as wind, etc. Col > > This is the sorta stuff that makes people like me very skeptical. Guest guest
Pretty soon, Debi - you are going to have to have this disagreement and debate with your own kids : ) They most likely will be shown it in school at some point. It most definately is all the "rage" in schools now. I think this is a free site: http://www.teachermagazine.org/tm/articles/2007/03/01/05climate.h18.html?clean=true Warming Up to Climate StudiesBy andra R. Moses "It started with a song. Science teacher Kellie Sutliff-Brady wanted to get her students talking about global warming, so she hit `play' on Etheridge's "I Need to Wake Up," from the soundtrack of the Al Gore documentary An Inconvenient Truth."
