I respectfully disagree with the validity of the association the report

cited states that the links are anecdotal, and though bearing further

research, are not considered concrete. The report, in fact, is an

explanation of the establishment of a clearing house to gather reported

events of liver toxicity associated with drugs/herbal products. And further

is describing a proposed trial of Black Cohosh to see if there really is any

link.

I will withdraw even though I am concerned over your position of

hepatotoxicity in the face of insufficient and inaccurate data.

Based on that same sort of data, anecdotal, I can assure you that

beta-carotene is hepatotoxic. That is a very broad and sweeping statement

to apply to all people, even to all HCV sufferers. Many have no problems.

But it makes me extremely sick, and its clearly my liver that is inflamed.

Ultrasound produces acute inflamation in my liver, rendering me sick in bed

for several weeks. But this is not a statement that should be made across

the board. Similarly, the Black Cohosh data is anecdotal.

I will await the further studies, and make no claims regarding toxicity of

the substance.

And you just never know Sally....it may work for thousands and then

there could be that one case that has problems.....I guess it would

be like any medication. Some of the women were also taking other

herbal products...so it would be very difficult to tell which one

caused the reaction or it was the combination.

I don't know much about herbs Sally.....if someone mentions one I

usually have to look it up. It is just not something they teach in

Nursing school.

Sally,

You are welcome!!

Just doing my job. I think that is great that you document all your

medications. I wish more people did. One of the things that I found in my years

of nursing. And this is kind of funny. My older patients would bring to the

doctor ever medication, vitamin, ointment, lotion, and so forth for us to have and

make a list. My younger patients it was like pulling teeth to get all the

medications they were on out of them. LOL

Now I don't consider myself old now. LOL I am 52. But I have a list that I carry

in my purse in case of accident, and I am unable to respond. Just makes it easier

on those that have to write those dang ole H & P's.

Oh and smiling is what I do best *Smile* LOL

Love

Sally Hines <shines@...> wrote:

Thanks Janet,

All of my doctors are aware of all of my medications, vitamins, herbals, and

supplements. I print out a fresh accounting every time I see one of my

doctors. They get a fresh list with every doctor, every pharmacy, every

pill, capsule, etc. Every adverse reaction I've been able to chase down and

document, whether in the literature or not. I was one of the first to

experience and report the bleeding problems <not gastric> with the ibuprofen

product. My doctor at the time discounted it, but my pharmacist took note

and reported it. Soon that side became reported as a " rare " incident, now

its reported as " uncommon " , which is a bit more frequent than rare.

I believed I saw a blanket indictment of the Black Cohosh on this list.

Perhaps I misunderstood. If so, I apologize. I certainly would not prescribe

a supplement for anyone. I can only say what my experience is, and research

information, which I did. I also won't say that no one should ever use

ginseng, even though ginseng and siberian ginseng both make me very ill, and

they have both been listed both positive and negative in studies.

Freezine one out in the Pacific North West in the summer is not an option.

Airconditioning is very rare here. When the temperature outside gets warm,

the inside gets warmer. I just sweat. Like I said, the summer is pretty much

over here, now. I will see.

Thank you for the smile.

Hey Llinda,

If you're up to traveling the place to go is s Hopkins. Call Dr. Carson for a referral. From personal experience he is a magician. He was Head of Neurosurgery now he is Head of Pediatric Neurosurgery. He does the Siamese twin separations. You may have seen him on TV he is a thin black man. He is probably the best physician I have ever encountered (of hundreds) and totally down to earth with no pretense whatsoever. A true Gentleman.

Allan with 2 L's

Hey

Had my visit with the neurosurgeon yesterday. Very nice guy, open and honest. Got to see the films of my neck... looked like I had been sliced and diced. Saw the problems and got the word... he cannot help me. Oh well... I tried very hard to not get my hopes up but did a little anyway. He said my options are the same ole, ignore it and/or the pain clinic. Am bummed today but will get over it. To quote Yosemite Sam, and Connie... rasser frasser. Did I spell that right?

Allan... just wanted to say it is good to see you back. Was waaaay too quiet from your direction.

, I was so sorry to hear this bad news. Crap, rassum and frassum all at once. What will you do now? If you need to talk to me I am here, but i gotta tell you the only reason im using my caps is cuz someone made me aware of it. i have a tendon missing in my right arm, so the outer bone is a floater, and it makes the muscles way sore to reach for the stupid shift key so i got lazy. Is it unbearable pain, sweetie? I hope not, pain every day no matter what can wear a spirit down, so if you wanna talk you know how to get ahold of me. Love ya,ConnieLlinda <2llama@...> wrote:

Thanks Connie. I have always wanted thinner hair cause mine was so thick if I tried to wear it long I had headaches from hell cause it was so heavy. It is longer now than it has ever been. My nails have slowed down. But that is ok cause they are not healthy. Its like I traded my nails for my hair. oh well Im breathing, I would have short hair and short nails for the rest of my life just for my health to be better... Would be nice if we had those kind of choices.... well ok it would be tooooo weird. lol ok now Im rambling.

Dick Im so glad you have not been having a real bad time. For me it was on average 1 good day a week during tx. But my health was bad when I started. Worse than that was my mental health. So mental plays a huge role in it.. Ok glad you are nearly done.

Don't worry about quitting until you are truely ready cause that is when it will work with the help of Zyban. It took me long enough to get to this point after a year of trying.Take care of those wrists.

Good Goin Gail!..Im sooo proud of you!!..I just cant do it..not yet anyway...After tx we try and take good care of ourselves(gettin older doesnt help either!) LOL., unlike before tx..Ive gained so much because of all this & hope to do my best to stay as healthy as I possibly can. my carpal is aggravating. especially now that its cold, the boys have to do the cooking & carrying the basket to the dryer..and it gives my hands a break, but my problems are lil bitty compared to many here with life threatening problems..

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone...De? How are the migraines?

Pat

They

don’t have any idea. I’ve had them since I was about 15, so I’ve

tried about everything for them. Stress usually aggravates them, but not

always DURING the stress, sometimes AFTER it’s over. I just deal

with it.

RE:

Hey

do they know what

is causing the migraines?Hope it eases up soon for you .Take care hon.

(When your hair falls out in clumps, about the size of a silver dollar.) Stress is really bad..
