Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2007 I wrote VICTORious Life about Victor Alvarez (SMA2) that covers the years from 1996 (when Victor at age 10 was separated from his birth family and sent to a hospice facility, supposedly dying) until 2005 (when he finished his junior year in high school.) Victor is now a Bill Gates Millennium Scholar in college, an artist, a weekly newspaper columnist and a motivational speaker for at-risk youth. I'm one of Victor's caregivers and the proceeds from the book go into a care fund for him. The book can be purchased at www.VictorAlvarezWeb.com. You can buy it online at Amazon.com, andnoble.com or Publishamerica.com. Since I had the book published, I have gotten married to a man I met here in the SMA group. His former wife (deceased) had SMA. Yes, miracles happen! Guest guest Report post Posted August 6, 2007 One of my short essays was published in an anthology called " Bigger Than the Sky: Disabled Women on Parenting " edited by Michele Wates and Rowen Jade. It's available at amazon.com. I also wrote an essay about living independently while using a ventilator. It was published by the World Institute on Disability in a book called " Personal Perspectives on Personal Assistance Services " edited by Weissman, Jae Kennedy, Ph.D., and Simi Litvak, Ph.D. See: http://www.wid.org/publications/personal-perspectives-on-personal- assistance-services/

Guest guest Report post Posted August 7, 2007 Jenn, Thank you for reminding me about this book. I spoke with Stan Klein when he was working on this. He called me looking for contributors who were people of color. It was exciting to hear about the project and be able to connect him with other writers. I've put it on my shopping list. Guest guest Report post Posted June 16, 2009 Yes! Those are two of my favorite books about overeating, Mindless Eating and The End of Overeating. I just reserved Don't Eat This Book by Spurlock at my local library (Actually, I think I already read it, but I'm gonna read it again.) I think we must have the same " taste " in books on the subject, because I thought these were two of the most helpful books that I've read. Actually, I " listened " to The End of Overeating on my iPod thru iTunes two or three times. Great reads, if you're into that sort of thing. Guest guest Report post Posted June 18, 2012 For anyone interested in exploring raw cuisine... I recently purchased " Going Raw " by Judita Wignall, and " Practically Raw " by Amber Shea Crawley. I give both books five stars. Each has excellent recipes with short lists of easy-to-find ingredients that morph into the most delectable dishes. Amber's book is unique in that she provides both a raw and a cooked adaptation for every recipe. I've made a number of recipes from both books and have been very pleased thus far. =) Carol > > http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_14?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks & field-\ keywords=green+smoothie+revolution & sprefix=green+smoothie%2Cstripbooks%2C272 > > Several of these have great information....... > >
Guest guest Report post Posted June 19, 2012 Those books look great. I have read all of Boutenko's books and they are very informative and have wonderful recipes in them. I'll just add one more. I bought a smoothie book at the used book store last year, The Smoothies Bible by Pat Crocker. It has nutritional information for some different illnesses and then smoothie recipes to help heal each of those illness naturally with food. I like it a lot. It is helping me to better understand this whole green smoothie thing.
