Suzan,

My suggestion is to inquire about increasing the Enbrel. I

Am on THREE shots of 50mg a week... And it REALLY makes a difference in pain and

stiffness! Two shots just didn't cut it for my dragon!

Best to you!!!

Hi all. Does anyone still wake up all stiff each morning even being on

lots of drugs? I sure do and I hurt all day long. Maybe its time for me

to try some different meds. Im on 5mg of prednisone, 50 mg of immuran

each day and 50 mg of enbrel once a week. I guess i need to call my

rheumy and get seen. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Suzan

Hi Suzan!

I've been waking up stiff every morning for the past 13 years (as long

as I've been diagnosed) if not longer. It's not unusual from what I've

assest; I stiffen up during sleep because I don't move around much when

I do sleep.

As for being stiff all day long, again, not unusual but should be

addressed with your RD. There maybe something else that can be done

for you, you never know. Don't forget to ask for blood to be drawn

too, perhaps your meds aren't doing the job anymore and that's about

the only way I know of to find out.

Take care and be well.

I'm the same way.. I look like a freaky robot when I first get out of bed...

It does not seem to matter how many meds I am on for inflammation, I am

always stiff. My fingers, my wrists, my elbows, even my toes! So, I guess

we aren't alone... I think I look older than someone that is 90 when I first

start to walk... Oh well. It's just important to remember that we aren't

alone and we aren't dying - we may feel like it - but we aren't :).

I drink yerba mate. i don't use the gourd or the bombilli.  I brew it like I do

all my teas.  the yerba mate I use does have stevia added.

I really like it for a morning drink.  I get  nice lift without the effects of

caffiene.  I have not used it in Kombucha.

Subject: question

this maybe a cross post....but need some answers, so please forgive if

offends.

I was wondering if any one here had tried yerba mate and what was your

thoughts.

Do you use the bombilli or the gourd or what do you do...am just

trying to learn...so would appreciate input. Just wondering if it is

worth the time and money to do it.

thanks

In contrast, I tried it and hated it. Even with embellishments it tasted

nasty to me. Again everyone has different tastes, only way to know is to

try it.

I hated it, too, although (in all fairness) I only tried the one

brand. It tasted like old, moldy hay, to me.

Aw, Ronni, it didn't sound cross to me at all,

in fact quite mild-mannered;-) Nothing offensive detected at all :-)

> I was wondering if any one here had tried yerba mate and what was your

Once upon an experimental splurge I did make Kombucha from Mate 'tea' and

really found it quite undrinkable - hated the taste.

Now, the recommendation IF you really want to make KombuMate is to use

about half proper camellia sinensis tea with the mate, because the

Kombucha is in need of the specific camellia sinensis nutrients in order

to do well and brew proper KT.

By all means drink mate if you like it with all the traditional fancies:-)

As far as I'm concerned, Kombucha needs to be brewed with proper tea.

The 'cha' in Kombucha means 'Tea'.

Greetings from an old purist,

Margret:-) UK

Suzan, sorry this took so long to reply, but yes, I am stiff every morning and

sometimes throughout the day. Getting up and moving eventually helps (usually).

I think it's just part of the beast that is the dragon.

question

Thanks

Now that it's getting colder, yes I am waking up a little stiffer. I take 400 mg

of Plaquenil

and 15 mg of Meloxicam a day and have not had Stills symptoms since the

Plaquenil

began working over the summer but have arthritis pain that ranges from mild

discomfort

to severe depending on the day.

It works for me to keep the areas that bother me the most warm like sleeping in

socks

and keeping a heating pad handy in case my knees wake me up. I've had to sleep

in those

Thermacare heat wraps on my wrists and while they are a little expensive they do

a good

job since they last 8 hrs. As long as I stay warm at night getting up isn't

nearly as bad as it

was.

Sure, your soak will keep fine in the fridge. The nuts and stuff might

get a bit softer, but they won't go bad in that short a time.

But, of course! I'm making a sprouted bean soup tomorrow from sprouts I

started Tue.night. Its a mix I got from .com. It's called

Great Beans and Rice soup mix. It has three kinds of beans and brown

rice. It is really good. And sprouting beans does remove some of the gas

making.

Hi Gang - wanted to know if anyone does a sprouted bean soup. I tried

a

recipe with peas pureed it in my Vitamix last night that was good,

but

thought how much better and cheaper it would be with sprouted beans.

Any recipes?

I hate to sound stupid here, but do you cook the soup, and if so how/

what is the recipe?

Yes, I cook the soup. The recipe is never the same. I call it whats on

hand soup. There may be a more official title, but I don't know what it

is. It is usually just my wife and I so I don't cook a big pot. Tomorrow,

I am going to put a quart of organic beef stock in a pan and add sliced

carrots and bring it to a boil. While thats working, I'm going to dice

celery and throw it in. Turn the pot down to a simmer. Chop a small onion

and throw it in. Add garlic, whatever spices I feel like and the

bean/rice sprouts. I have a small beef steak ( about 1/4 # ), I'm going

to dice it and brown it in a small skillet and throw it in. Its all going

to simmer together for about two hours. I will serve that with a fresh

picked salad and toasted Ezekiel 4:9 bread. Sometimes it will be chicken

stock and meat. Sometimes vegetarian. Sometimes there will be other

veggies. Whats on hand soup.
