Guest guest Report post Posted February 11, 2005 that is the hardest with DS...for a long time he would only wear " car shoes " /...those tennies with hot wheels on them. Then we couldnt find them to fit him, so we had to sneak the spiderman shoes on, it took a long time of " forcing " him to wear them & he finally got used to them. Now we are into bigger spiderman shoes, but they are a different design. I snuck them on this morning. He didnt throw a fit, but he tried to take them off & kept saying " no " So I took them off & put on his old shoes (which he hasnt quite outgrown yet). I am hoping that if I let him know that he can take them off when it is overwhelming for him (like the medicalert bracelet) he will eventually just wear them. anyway, that is my plan \>===== Original Message From " Anne " <Lady_Anne76@...> ===== >--------------Boundary-00=_H92QRN00000000000000 >Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset= " iso-8859-1 " >Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > Thanks! Anne -- Re: shoes He's so cute!! shoes does anyone else have these issues with shoes?! It is almost as bad as food! It is so hard to introduce new shoes for DS. He WILL NOT try them on, and it takes us a week to coax him to change to new shoes when he has outgrown others.I have taken to the tactic that they speak to (about food) in the "Cant Eat, Wont Eat" book and exposing him to the shoes for a week or so, but not trying to put them on, just letting them be in his room in plain view, in the hopes that he will get used to them & let us put them on.Any other ideas???DonnaP.S. we still havent been able to cut his hair. Guest guest Report post Posted December 19, 2009 Hi Anne! For most workouts you should use crosstrainers, as they are designed for lateral movement; running shoes are made to propel you forward only and have too much tread for a gym/video workout. CLX is an awesome program, but a less expensive way to go if you are starting out might be to pick up Jari Love's Ripped workout - it's a super head to toe weight training workout and if you like that one you can pick up the rest of hers. Cheers! On Sat, Dec 19, 2009 at 4:29 PM, Imagesrme <imagesareme@...> wrote: What kind of shoes are the best for video fanatics? Has anyone tried these shoes advertised to burn more calories? Guest guest Report post Posted December 20, 2009 Hi Anne, I agree with the recommendation for Cross Trainers for aerobics/weight training. Running shoes are good for running/walking but not for the lateral movements in aerobics. I have been interested in the "calorie burning" shoes as well - but I think those are more for just daily wear rather than exercising. I think the sole design is also good for back health and promotes better posture/alignment. I know Sketchers makes them and I think they are cheaper than the other brand. Take care!Donna From: Imagesrme <imagesareme@...>Subject: Shoes Date: Saturday, December 19, 2009, 7:29 PM What kind of shoes are the best for video fanatics? Guest guest Report post Posted December 20, 2009 Anne, The calorie burning shoes with negative heels should be worn during daily activity, not when working out. I have some shoes made by a different company and sandals. They do work you legs a bit and I wear them at times when I'll be running around the house alot or walking around the block. I don't wear mine out in public though since they are older and extremely dorky. The new ones look really cool and once the price goes down I do intend to pick up a pair. New Balance has a number of affordable cross trainers and mine have always held together well and been the most comfy shoe for me personally.(check Sams Club for discontinued styles) Everyone has a different foot though and one brand may work well for one person and another for another. Most shoe makers do list what activities the shoe has been designed for on the tag. I always find that helpful. And once in a while Self magazine rates crosstrainers. a > > > > > > > What kind of shoes are the best for video fanatics? Has anyone tried these > > shoes advertised to burn more calories? Guest guest Report post Posted December 20, 2009 I have wide fat and the New Balance are the only shoes I can wear that are comfortable for exercising. The cross trainers are what I wear also. Very comfy. in CA Re: Shoes Date: Sunday, December 20, 2009, 11:37 AM Anne, The calorie burning shoes with negative heels should be worn during daily activity, not when working out. Guest guest Report post Posted December 20, 2009 The awesome thing about New Balance is that they are ALWAYS on sale somewhere. I've never paid more than $30 for mine. :-) Sams carries them several times a year as well and I'll buy them before I need them when they do. I've gotten them for as little as $19 there. Guest guest Report post Posted December 20, 2009 Hi Anne, in Atlanta. I wear New Balance shoes because I have bad feet (bunions and other problems) and I need a wider shoe. PLUS for me they are VERY comfortable. I usually buy cross-trainers with a mid-sole so that they protect my ankles and then I can wear them for aerobics, walking or playing volleyball. I think Chalean Extreme is worth the money but you should be able to find it cheaper by now. I just bought 4 more of her workouts to add to my collection. I like that she is making more so that I will have more variety. I didn't finish my Chalean Extreme rotation because I hurt my foot. I plan on starting it again some time in 2010.Let me know if you have any more questions. Jen from Michiganp.s. I think those shoes that burn more calories are a gimmick to get more money from people. And I have bad knees too! From: Imagesrme <imagesareme@...>Subject: Shoes Date: Saturday, December 19, 2009, 7:29 PM What kind of shoes are the best for video fanatics? Guest guest Report post Posted November 8, 2010 That's funny my daughter is 15 my niece is 19 and they both wear size 3 and s best friend. All have D.S. There's lots of shoes in size 3. My kids like Merralls and Puma tennis shoes with velcro we got at Nordstroms. Sent from my BlackBerry® on the MetroPCS Network Re: Shoes Breezy is 18 and her foot seems so small for her body size. She wears a child's 3 and we usually buy the velco style mary janes in a wide width even tho they do not wrap all the way across the velcro closure they do go about 3/4 of the way across and do stay on and have a good arch support. She really only wants to wear tennis shoes for Special Olympics and we get the Nike soft tops, again they have a good arch support. Since she has such flat feet I think they help save her back and legs. She puts them on to go to SP, takes them off between events and puts them back on to throw or run and then off they go again. She had adorable silver ballet flats for preprom; wore them once, and picked out a pretty pair of light pink for special occasions, which have not happened so they are still new in the box. Guest guest Report post Posted November 9, 2010 -- Shoes Many of our kids have wide and flat feet. 's feet are probably done growing and he wears a Youth/Mens size 7 Wide. I'm curious to know what brand of shoes you all find best for your kids. We usually end up with Nike s or New Balance. Also, for those whose young men/adult men have small feet, where do you find your size 7 Wide shoes??
Guest guest Report post Posted November 9, 2010 We go to Fred Toenges in Fort Wayne...they usually have to order but we use sketchers, new balance etc. Only some Nike come in " D " width and usually have to be ordered. Nike usually run short/narrow from what I have been told. My son is also a 7 extra wide. Wish he grew just one more size. CIndy UpsNdowns From: kelli1082@... Guest guest Report post Posted November 9, 2010 I don't want to hijack the thread, but while we're on this subject, I was wondering......Caty doesn't seem to have wide feet, just flat but they are about a 4. We used to be able to make do with a womans' 5 if they were made small, but the last time we really looked it seemed that more stores are selling women's shoes from 6 to 11. And a 6 is just huge on her. Does anyone have luck finding smaller womens sizes in any stores? Not Tennis shoes, but a nice leather shoe or boot? Just curous. Guest guest Report post Posted November 9, 2010 We have about the same problem. Josiah is 21 and wears a 5 or 6 boys size. I don't think men's sizes come that small. Cannot find a nice quality leather dress shoe...most children's shoes are not made such....as they go out of them so quickly. Guest guest Report post Posted November 9, 2010 And while we're on this subject, is my 20 year old the only one that STILL can't tie her shoes? I admit I gave up several years ago. She has all the motions, just doesn't get it tight enough so it needs tied 5 minutes later. We usually do slip on, sometimes velcro, but I hate it. I think they are helping, because he moves them to whichever shoes he is wearing...even his slippers. Guest guest Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Is it worth looking into the reasons for the toe walking and then see whether anything can be done to address these: eg bowel overload (clearout) tight muscles and ligaments (exercises)? I hvae a paper somewhere written by an teacher which gives the view why orthotics may be a bad idea. If I find it, I'll post it.
