Guest guest
You're actually doing fine. 42/35/23 is quite good. If you're following the palm/fist portions in the book, everything will fluctuate by several points. There's no reason to math yourself to death trying to get it all perfectly even. Technically, you're not supposed to be counting calories at all. So, it's fine if some days are higher in carbs or higher in healthy fats. Maybe the next day you're higher on protein. There should be a natural variation to your calories and ratios. It's not something that's set in stone. As far as the protein recommendation goes, take your pick: 1g of protein per pound of total body weight 1g of protein per pound of lean mass 20-25g of protein per meal (120-150g per day) Those are all legitimate and widely accepted. The last one is just the 40/40/20 ratio for somebody eating six meals and 1200-1500 cals per day, which is what most women following BFL and going for maximum fat loss tend to eat. I would add that if you find yourself coming up short at the end of the day, definitely don't throw in any " make-up " meals. Bill says that if you miss a workout, you miss it. You don't double up the next day. Meals are the same way. Cramming in a bunch of extra calories late at night to get the numbers to come out right probably won't help much with the fat loss. You might track a couple of more days just to be sure your protein portions are substantial enough. Once you have an idea what your portions should look like, I wouldn't continue tracking everything and worrying about getting the ratios just right. You should be able to eyeball it most of the time and only add up a day here and there when you're curious or if you've changed a lot of the foods you eat. > Hey All > So I've been pretty bummed with my scale weight loss so far and I thought I > would just monitor my calories and carb/protien ratio using selfdietclub.com > (exactly the same as fitday). I noticed after dinner I was at about 50% > carb, 26% protien, and 24% fat for where my calories were coming from... > This came as a big shock because I thought I had been doing so well getting > protien in at every meal. So I came home from work at 930 and had 2 meals > left. I just had a protien shake, no carbs... Then at 1130 I had another > shake... Guest guest
, I never dealt with kiddos in school as I home educated (long before Katy got sick) -- but IDF has just published this document that can be downloaded (or ordered from IDF at 1-800-296-4433). It may provide some helpful tools. http://www.primaryimmune.org/pubs/school_guide.pdf In His service, dale
Guest guest
, Why not request a meeting with the person filing the complaint, either through the intermediary or through a direct phone call? We can only tell you here what we THINK might be the issue. The fastest way toward conflict resolution and a better relationship here, is to go directly to the source. It may be that there is a systems problem, not a personnel problem, but you’ll never know unless you do conflict resolution with your feelings set aside while you figure it out. I used to be the Director of Dietary Services at an eating disorder treatment center. The same thing used to happen to me all the time, the staff would complain about me based on things the patients were saying. It turned out that the vast majority of the problem was the patients using me as a scapegoat. It’s natural, they had issues with food, I represent food, so when emotions arose, I would get the blame. We solved the problem in two ways: 1. If there was a complaint, the complainant would be invited to help problem solve PROVIDED in their complaint they did not just lash out, but they also offered some sort of solution as a starting point for negotiation and conflict resolution. 2. Any staff member who fielded a complaint from a patient committed to inviting me into a session where problem solving could occur. When the patients learned that dumping issues was not a stress management tool we used or accepted, much of the complaining stopped. Many of them did not know how to do this…which is why they often had eating issues in the first place. Instead of resolving conflict, they ate (or didn’t eat). It may very well be that there is a lot of projection and transference/countertransference going on and the parties involved are operating on perception rather than doing some fact checking before reacting. Guest guest
I have to agree! The three surgeons that I work closely with all highly value my opinion, as well. Remember, we want a good outcome (for the patients, of course), but also for our weight loss statistics. Patients who are not prepared for this lifestyle change will not lose as much weight as they possibly could. We also follow our patients very closely, constantly ofering support to keep them on track. We state at the beginning, surgery is not the easy way out. Surgery is a only a tool. After our education session, or even after their surgical consult, some people decide to wait to have surgery, & that is fine with our team. We keep their application on file & many will resurface after 1-2 years after having failed at diets. Surgery should never be the first attempt at weight loss. Hope that helps. Guest guest
I tell you my story..My son has aspger syndrome...He is 16 years old, will be 17 very soon..Very big boy, bigger than I am..Well anytime I corrected him and told him off playstation game to help clean he would throw a fit..One day coming home from Church I told all my kids they were not going to their room until they helped clean the kitchen.Jonathon decided he did not have to listen and I caught him on the playstation game...So I took it away from him and the next thing I knew he had punched my in my back..Well I have 3 son who at the time would not think twice about rearing up to me or hitting me when their dad was at work..So I made the hardest call I ever made in my life.I called the cops out and had him arrested for breaking my door and hitting me..He spent 3 dAYS in jail, juvenile and was released to us with no charges though due to his mental capabilities. He was given A WARNING and told never to come back again..That has made such difference in all my sons..They have not even thought about hitting on me again...Now when thinks he going to defy me,I bring that up and he listens..He made a change and working hard on his behavior now...Those three days ,I felt so guilty and so bad..My parents made me even feel worse but it was the best thing I could have done for him..
