Surgery

I have a very large ganglion on the top of my right hand near the

wrist. Seems to be growing as I look at it. I thought I could let it

go but I've started to get the nerve 'shocks' that radiate to my

fingers. The doctor is an excellent plastic surgeon so I'm hoping I

can get back to work soon. She originally said four weeks off -

Yikes!!! Thanks to all for your concern. Yes Kim, I've had carpal

tunnel surgery in both wrists and boy, what fun doing certain

things. Do have a great hubby that is willing to help. He even

shaved my legs when I had my hip replacement. Too funny. Glad I

don't have to have him do that often. The doctor is concerned that I

may be lifting patients...no, that's not the kind of nursing I do.

I'm a nurse practitioner in a gyn office in real life. And I do

exams with my left hand but...I do need that right hand. Val has

already volunteered to help with soaping. Just need someone to do my

writing. Hmmm, a secretary sounds good. Wonder if I can get them to

agree to that at work.

Glad someone else is disgusted with the costs of shows now. I know

everyone needs to make a profit but wow, some of the costs are out of

sight.

I do have to say kudos to at Creekside Soaps. I placed an

order on Friday and came home tonight to find my package here. Even

with the holiday. Thanks .

Not so many years ago. About three years ago my doc suggested that I treat

my wrist roughly to see if the cyst would break so I would not have to have

surgery. After a few weeks I mistakenly hit it against a door frame and it

broke. So much for that.

I have carpal tunnel as well but I wear my braces and grit my teeth. Least

of my aches and complains.

Well, I'm up and moving. Thanks to those who warned me honestly whatto expect. Brutal, just about sums it up. I was thinking it wouldnot be worse than my hysterectomy. May was I wrong. But ut seems tobe improving faster than that incision did.They did a 'door' procedure on the anreurysm and then they did stillahve to rebuild the valve. If by surgery, you mean an adrenalectomy, yes, I had my left adrenal

gland removed on April 19th of this year. I am in Michigan too, and

had it done at Ann Arbor. If your interested, I can give you the name

of the surgeon. It was done laparoscopically. If I had to do over

again, yes I would have it done. I have felt absolutely great ever

since. My blood pressure is now fantastic, and my potassium went back

to normal in just 3 days.....after having dangerously low levels for

nearly 8 months. I also have more energy than I have had in a long

time. I hope this helps you in your decision. If I can help in any

other way, let me know.

My recovery time (time off work) was 2 weeks. I felt great though as

far as everything other than the incisions after the first week. The

Dr's name at U of M in Ann Arbor was Dr. Doherty. He was great.

Of course Ann Arbor (Uof Mich) is where PA was first discovered by Dr. Conn. I

was there from 1969-70. They still have more experience that anyplace else in

the world.

Surgery

's surgery is at 9:30 in the morning. The doctor just called a little while ago. If all goes well he may be home Sat. Sun at the latest. I am going to drag my tired butt off to bed. I will have to leave by 5:30 to have breakfast with him ;-)

Good Luck and Liam! I know of other kids who've had a similar surgery

and done very well. I can remember how scared I was before my Liam's first

surgery (ear tubes and tear duct dilation at 14 months). It was over before I

knew it and he was just fine (but I'm still recovering!) My Liam also had

Laryngomalacia. They promised me he'd outgrow it and he did, but not at 18

months

as they promised. It was more like 3 years.

painful it is after?? How long they are out of commission so to speak. Theya

are keeping him overnight (usually outpatient surgery) to keep a good eye on

him which is a relief. Even though I will be right net to him I want to

know that help is right there if needed. Anyway if anyone has gone through

this
