Guest guest
Hi Chris! It's wonderful to see a post from you. Sounds like you are doing great! And your goals are excellent too. I like to split my breaths throughout the day; altho I seldom count how many I can fit in. But doing some LL breathing before your other exercise you are doing will really benefit you greatly. I used to do that when I belonged to Curves. At every rebounding mat I did LL breathing. Made all the difference in the world. Again, great to see you here Chris. Hugs! Guest guest
Hello to all the familiar names and also to a few names that are new to > me at least! Helene, I've enjoyed reading your posts and I have also had > trouble comitting to LL for the long haul. So nice to meet you, and thanks for writing. LL is a terrific program, it's just that I started out with BodyFlex then switched to Oxycise--after some pretty good results with those, I decided it was time for something 'new', but for one reason or another, could never quite get the hang of the LL breathing; I think I'm doing it right, but often times feel like the 'pah' is just sorta sticking in my throat...the more I practice, the more I feel I'm getting the knack of it, but imo, it's one of the more difficult breaths to master. However, the Reflexology tape is lovely, so I'd definitely recommend starting with that before working your way to the others. All the tapes are nice, and the positions, very manageable. Love, Helene
Guest guest
Hi Helene, Like you I started out with bodyflex; which lasted a week because the breath is so hard and rough I really thought I was coughing out a lung. Then I tried Oxycise but for me that was the most difficult. Then I found LL which for me was the gentlest and so calming; I didn't feel so hurry up and get it done like with bodyflex. The cool thing is no matter which breathing program we prefer is that we are oxygenating (is that a word?) our bodies; and healing from within. Something that might help with the pah; it is not exaggerated as in bodyflex. It's more like a sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh; that's why so many of us can do our breathing just about anywhere. Try just dropping your jaw and letting it relax and sigh instead of PAH and see if that helps you. Rashelle is the one who taught Greer Childers aerobic breathing. So you might find some similarities between the two. Greer took it to the speed it up level and made bodyflex; Rashelle's is very gentle and quiet. When used to doing BF; it does get difficult to break the habits of that way of breathing. Just keep on breathing; no matter which or all of the programs you follow. And I agree, the Reflexology rocks! Hugs! Wanda > Hello to all the familiar names and also to a few names that are new > to > > me at least! Guest guest
Hi , I am new to the group but not new to weight loss! I have used the WW points system very successfully in the past but like you I have not had success addressing the psychological issues why I eat--which is why I am back to square one. I have tried other methods but I have come back to the Points system because I find it the easiest and most sensible to follow. This allows me to focus on the real issues. I have never had luck feeling connected to any of the WW group leaders/members or message boards (online). I am hoping to find the support I need here on IOWL and with the podcasts. Ann > > I've been listening to IOWL for a while, but I am finally trying to commit to the process. Check that... I AM committing to the process. My weight has been up and down for years, but more recently is up to a new 20 year high and this has got to stop. I just finished reading Kessler's book, The End of Overeating, after hearing mention it on the show, and that has provided some worthwhile insights. > > I've had success with Weight Watchers in the past at losing weight, but not at changing attitude/lifestyle. Guest guest
Hi, our son was in a cast for 11,5months (started at age of 20months, he had 7casts), after casts he was wearing Boston brace 23h a day for 12months. After one year in a brace (he had two braces because he grew during year) he had 8degrees, now for a second year he's not wearing brace nor anything. Good luck! Magdalena, mother of Antoni, 5y.2011/3/20 lynn_marsden <lynn_marsden@...> Â Hi all, It's been forever since I was last on the sight but I just wanted to check in as I've been feeling a little frustrated lately and also to give an update as to where Peyton is now. As many of you might remember my son Peyton was diagnosed with IPS at 9 months and put in his first mehta cast at 10 months. He was casted for 14 months with a total of 8 casts. We went into the cast at 45 degrees and at the end of the 14 months we were down to the low 20's I think. Peyton has been wearing a brace full time (23 hours a day)since September so he has been in it a total of 7 months now. We just had our last check up this past week where for some reason I was under the impression that we would be allowed to start weaning him off the brace but......to my surprise the doctor simply said " continue with brace wear and come back in 6 months " ! He was so casual about it that I was really mad! He has no idea what this entails. Peyton has hypotonia (low muscle tone) so any time we get out of the brace is time that we work on PT. So now this means that his physical development will be delayed even longer. Uggg I could just scream!!! Does anyone have a rough estimate of how long the kids stay in the brace full time before they get to cut back on the hours of wear? Thanks so much guys and I hope to meet all the new people on here and hear your stories too. Guest guest
Lynn, I wish I could give you a good answer, but I just don't have one. I think"typically"a child is in a brace for a year before going cast and brace free. Obviously my child or his doctor are NOT typical. What was Peyton's curve measurement the other day? Guest guest
Hi Lynn, We encountered that in our first brace as well before we had to cast again. Now Noelle is in brace number 2 and has maintained her correction for just over 4 months. We were told to return in 6 months and that we could take it off a couple of hours a day now. We won't unless she is engaged in some kind of activity, like PT or swimming and playing outside as it gets warmer. It IS frustrating, but I think the docs especially like to be conservative with kids like Noelle and Peyton who do have hypotonia or ligament laxity. I know that we still have a long way to go in brace and I try so hard not to project into the future too much... (easier said than done, I know!) We did get permission, even in our first brace, to take it off for swimming. I would call your doc and see if it would be reasonable to take it off for swim breaks or soccer practice, etc. at least for the peace of mind.... Big hugs and keep me posted. - Noelle's mommy, 4 years oldRochester NYCasted 8 times for 1 1/2 years9 months in braceRegressed and went into cast 9Back in brace at 8 degrees supine, 13 standing! reflux, mild plagiocephaly, mild torticollos, hypotonia, ligament laxity, suspected Ehler's Danlos III From: lynn_marsden <lynn_marsden@...>Subject: Hi everyoneinfantile scoliosis treatment Date: Sunday, March 20, 2011, 5:47 PM Hi all,It's been forever since I was last on the sight but I just wanted to check in as I've been feeling a little frustrated lately and also to give an update as to where Peyton is now.
