Guest guest
Hi, I'm responding to your question about breaking out of food jail. YES, YES, YES!!!! I most definitely gained when breaking out of jail. It was very unnerving and initially hard to deal with. I got to an all time high, in my weight and size. But eventually, and it really hasn't been that long, I have started to lose again, and level out with the appetite thing. I can tell you this, it is very important to eat very often, during the first few weeks. Make your best food choices, and if you feel you must have those rich foods, just eat them and move on. Try to restrict them to the earlier part of the day, if you are able, and continue on with foods from the " real foods " list. If you would like to chat further, please feel free to email me personally. Sincerely, Tami
Guest guest
Hi , On this list, you can probably trace that book recommendation back to me. It was originally recommended to me by NS who is on another list. I am not sure if she is on this list or not. To answer your question. YES, I gained weight on this eating plan. I gained about 10 pounds maybe even 20. I gained it over the period of about a month, maybe a little longer. Then just as the book said would happen, I started losing it again. I have lost all 10 or 20 pounds that I gained while breaking out of food jail. I am still losing. Not as dramatically as before, but, it is still coming off. So, would I recommend this to others still? DEFINITELY! I have tried so many eating plans trying to get my eating problems under control. My eating problem involved sugar and bread. Even when I was young, my mother used to tell me that I would need false teeth by the time I was 18, if I kept eating out of the sugar bowl. Yes, I would get such strong cravings that I would eat sugar directly from the sugar bowl. I'm not talking just one spoonful either! To name some of the eating plans that I have tried and haven't worked for me; Fit for Life, Fitonics, The Hay Diet, Food Combining for Vegetarians, Sommersizing, Sugarbusters, CALP, CAD, Protein Power, Atkins, Five Day Miracle Diet, That Soup Diet, and there are more! Non of these eating plans worked for me. They would work for about a month, then the cravings would take over again. Keep in mind that another problem with my eating is that I absolutely refuse to put any artificial sweetener into my body. I know sugar is bad for me, but I also know what it does to my body. I have no idea what that chemical stuff does in there. I also just can't stand the taste of Stevia! Yuck! I am also a non-meat eater. I will eat fish, but that is the only flesh that I will eat. So, my diet is more complicated than the average American. Most people could probably make one of the above eating plans work for them. I am so very confusing to many people, because I used to be a closet junkie! In public I would force myself to eat as I knew I should. I am vegetarian by choice, so, in public, it was the vegetarian dishes, No white flour, no sugar, very little refined food. A very good example of what I believed was a healthy diet. I did go through a period of eating a lot of brown rice, and vegetables. In my opinion very healthy. NOT! That way of eating caused me to become hypoglycemic. With this the mood swings were horrible, the food cravings were not as easy to control in public. The lady at the grocery store used to laugh at me. My cart would be full of lots of brown rice, lots of fresh veggies, AND equal amounts of Twinkies, ho-ho's, m & m's, chocolate syrup and ice cream! She thought it was hilarious the total extreme! I often would fix a very low-fat vegetarian meal, then for desert eat the whole half gallon of ice cream AND the whole bottle of Hershey's syrup. Sometimes just drinking it straight from the bottle. If any of this sounds familiar, then, I would recommend the book, "Breaking Out of Food Jail" I have my life back because of this way of eating. I just want to say, that I very rarely have any sugar cravings. If I do, then I go back to my tools that I learned in getting out of food jail. I actually set a timer and eat something every hour. Not a whole meal. But something. Maybe a bite or two of something. It just takes a day of doing this to get rid of the cravings. I also try to make sure that what I eat is combined according to the Zone way of eating. That would be 40% carbohydrate, 30% protein, and 30% fat. Those of you who do the Food Combining according to the Hay way, don't go into a panic here. Fruits and Veggies are carbohydrates too. So, it is possible for Fitonics type of food combining to also do the Zone. Why the Zone? in combination with Breaking out of Food Jail principles? That is an easy one too. I have read all the books by Dr. Sears. It just makes sense to me too. I also know that when I was in my top athletic condition, that is exactly how I ate and my body had about 13% body fat on it, plenty of energy and I had the body that I am trying to get back. I also very much believe that food is a drug and should be treated as such. That is exactly what the Zone is about, using food to treat the body and help it heal itself. I don't think I would have been able to follow this way of eating if I had not done the Breaking out of food jail first though. I think that step is very important to getting over any eating problem. ~KarmaWould you like to know how much Protein, Carbohydrates and Fat your body needs? Would you like to know your Body Fat %, or your lean body mass (how many pounds of fat your body has? http://loaves-n-fishes.com/zoneprofiles.html I can't remember who mentioned this book but I read it and it makes perfect sense. I never had a weight problem until I started dieting. For the past seven years I have been on every diet known to mankind and have been successful only to gain every pound plus back. I am now at an all-time high weight for me and I can't say I like myself very much.I did have a question, since starting this new way of life and LifeLift, I have gained 8 pounds. I just returned from a 2-week vacation and didn't do my breathing and probably didn't eat like I should have. Whoever mentioned this book, did you gain weight at the beginning and are you starting to level out yet? I would truly be interested in how you are doing. The thought of even more weight is just plain scary!I know that getting back to LifeLift on a regular basis will help but I want to make sure I'm headed down the right path with this other thing.Any help or encouragement anyone has will be appreciated. Guest guest
Tami: Thanks so much for responding. It helps a great deal to know that I am not alone in this " gain " thing. This list has been so inspiring over the few short months I have been receiving it, I can't tell you. I think Rashelle should include the address in her web site and with each video. The chances of sticking to a program with support like this is a hundred times more probable than without. Thanks again and my very best to you in your struggles. I can't even begin to relate to the strength you must have but I am in awe. Re: Breaking Out of Food Jail Hi,I'm responding to your question about breaking out of food jail. YES, YES, YES!!!! Guest guest
, Thank you. It really does mean a lot when someone appreciates the time I put into my responses. I have tried so many things, my husband laughs at me because we both know that I am an extremist. I learn so much along the way though. Another benefit of being such an extremist, is that if it doesn't work for me, then it probably doesn't work and someone lied! I try really hard to represent the truth in everything that I say. As I always told my students when teaching and tell my children now. Guest guest
Thanks Bonnie, How is Susie doing anyway? Is she getting sleep yet? I remember when my first one was born. I thought she was trying to kill me with lack of sleep! LOL, not really, but the thought did occur to me! All kidding aside, she only slept when nursing. I almost was hospitalized from lack of sleep. I was too new at the mother thing to realize just how tired I was. My wonderful mother-in-law, saw what was going on and came to my rescue. I was so tired I was hallucinating. I even locked myself in the closet because I couldn't stand the air touching me and it felt safer in the closet. Everything was okay after I got some sleep! From this experience, I now watch all new mothers I know and step in if any of them shows signs of exhaustion. It is so surprising how often this happens and no one else seems to notice! ~KarmaWould you like to know how much Protein, Carbohydrates and Fat your body needs? Guest guest
Karma, Susie is doing good. Thanks for asking. Mohamad helps her out and her oldest girl ( she's 8 ) is a big help also. Of-course the 4 & 5 year olds try their best :-) Her husband is taking a week from work to help her this coming week. I really thank God she has such a loving, caring, thoughtful husband. With her so far away, it helps to know that!! BIG:-) She feeds him herself as she breast feeds. Maybe later she'll use the pump and bottles once in a while, but for now, not :-) I know I probably will sound like I'm bragging, and I guess in a way I AM :-) But she is such a good mom. Much more patient than I ever was!!!!!!!!! But after much rambling, to answer your question, she IS getting SOME sleep. When Mohamad is home, I'm sure she'll get more. Still, please keep her and family in your prayers. Boy sis, you really had it bad!! Bless your heart. Thank goodness for your mother-in-law!!!!! I'm glad she was there for you. And I'm glad you're here for us! {{{HUGS}}} & God bless, Bonnie **********************************************With God, ALL things are possible.********************************************** From this experience, I now watch all new mothers I know and step in if any of them shows signs of exhaustion. Guest guest
Hi Karma The first time I heard about this book was from you. I have tried to order it from & Noble and Amazon and was told that it was out of print, or special order. When I special ordered it, it was canceled by the bookseller. Someone posted that you could get it from some search place for books (I forgot exactly what it was) so I went there and tried to order it from several places and was told it was not available even though the search site said it had copies. Go Figure. Maybe I'm not supposed to read it, but I am determine to track down this " rare " book to add to my collection. Got any suggestions where I can locate one, new or used? I even requested that a used one be located by one bookseller, but none came thru. Rea
Guest guest
I just read your letter and I had to laugh. Not because it was funny. But, because I am going through the same thing with sleep. My youngest is 9 months. She still does not sleep through the night. On a good night I sneak in about 4 hours of sleep. But, than I have nights like last night. I got 15 min. It really does ware a person out when you don't have sleep. I have to say that. I did my Breathing exercises today, that seems to help me feel normal. I know from personal experience that when I was growing up, my mother was constantly on Weight Watchers eating her " special food " and struggling with her weight. She would not eat what we did. I think every night I remember her eating yellow squash as part of her meal. Whether or not this has anything to do with my own battle over food I couldn't say, but I would think subconsciously it might play a part. Re: Breaking Out of Food Jail Hi KarmaThe first time I heard about this book was from you.I have tried to order it from & Noble and Amazon and was told that it was out of print, or special order. When I special ordered it, it was canceled by the bookseller. Someone posted that you could get it from some search place for books (I forgot exactly what it was) so I went there and tried to order it from several places and was told it was not available even though the search site said it had copies. Go Figure. Maybe I'm not supposed to read it, but I am determine to track down this "rare" book to add to my collection. Got any suggestions where I can locate one, new or used? I even requested that a used one be located by one bookseller, but none came thru.Rea

Guest guest
Geri, Thank you :-) No, my Susie is on the "MoreOxygen" list. She likes Oxycise. Got real good results from it. I couldn't get the breath down! She did order the Body Wrap kit after asking me about it. She's a really sweet young woman. She is " from Kuwait " on "MoreOxygen" God bless, Bonnie **********************************************With God, ALL things are possible.********************************************** Bonnie,You can brag all you want on what a wonderful mother your daughter is. Does Susie belong to the lifelift list too? Geri

Guest guest
Hi Geri, just a question, does your daughter have on long stretch that she does sleep? Most babies have at first a six hour stretch that lengthens as they grow older. I just made sure my children woke up every two to three hours during the day so that their long stretch would come at night. Mine were usually sleeping most of the night by the time they were a month or so old. Most of , not all of, but at least I got a long stretch when they did. Just was wondering if you had tried that. Hope you have a good nights sleep tonight. I know that is one of themost valuable things we need, moms or not. And a late congrats on your (semi) new baby. W Re: Breaking Out of Food Jail I just read your letter and I had to laugh. It is so surprising how often this happens and no one else seems to notice!~Karma >>
Guest guest
Thank you mary, but no she does not have a long stretch. If I am holding her she sleeps for a long time, but if she is not being held. I would say 2 maybe 3 hours at the most. She is sleeping right now. I sure hope she makes a liar out of me. :-).. Hence forth. I do one of my aerobic breathing tapes to help give me energy to make it through the day.
