Guest guest
This is simple. If you have insurance, definitely test. If not, then what I did was choose to save the $524 that Quest Diagnostics would have directly cost me and just asked my doc for prescription and so yesterday my samples arrived along with a prescription. I will be taking my first Benicar w/i the next couple days. I'm almost skeptical it will do anything for me. My initial interest came b/c of its similarities to dexamethasone's relation with ACE and angiotensin stuff, as my thinking is if it could reduce inflammation in my brain like dexamethasone apparently did, I could maybe feel VERY good and near cured. I am most interested in seeing Benicar's effects on me and two others who were on dexamethasone following surgeries who also felt cured, Jo and Trish. Trish is on Benicar already. Hopefully Jo and I will have good results too and we can see for ourselves if it has similar effects. I would have gobbled down a Benicar as soon as I got it yesterday but I wanted to try one last experiment and use my new rife machine with inflammation frequencies and see if anything positive happens. One thing at a time. It is a good time to try these things as my symptoms have gotten much worse lately since moving back to NC. Went to Walmart last night and stayed over 50 mins and by the time I left there I felt like I had the flu with deep aching down into lower legs and lower back aching too. I didn't put the signs together until later that Walmart is a bad culprit at making me feel worse (all the formaldehyde from clothing and other new items?), as I am chemical sensetive, so I could kick myself for staying in there that long on a day I already didn't feel so good in the first place. I've read previous msgs on this board, the MP group and infosarc, but I'm still not clear as to whether all people are doing the vit D tests and other tests recommended by Dr. Marshall before starting the protocol. It seems some are not. Would those of you who are on it and know others who are, give an update on this. I'm wondering whether to test or just try it. Guest guest
, could also be the lighting? I've always detested large stores and artificial lighting. Hate grocery shopping. Especially those lighted cases with their annoying flickering. Now, based on Trevor's research, it could actually be the lighting that's making us feel ill as well. Try dark sunglasses, hat, etc. next time. See if it helps? penny > This is simple. If you have insurance, definitely test. Guest guest
Yes, , I definitely got my Ds tested. The complete instructions are at the www.sarcinfo.com site. Really, it's the 25-D and the 1,25D (hormone) that are most helpful. Then it's the ratio of the two together that's important to tell if your D metabolism is off, indicating an inflammation/immune problem. Having those base line tests will also help you gauge your progress on the protocol. TEsting's not absolutely necessary for starting the prtocol. You and your doctor can also watch your symptoms as another way to gauge whether this model fits your illness. But the testing will be an aid, and especially if you have insurance, no reason not to do it. penny > Thanks for all the information. > I've read previous msgs on this board, the MP group and infosarc, but > I'm still not clear as to whether all people are doing the vit D tests > and other tests recommended by Dr. Marshall before starting the > protocol. Hi Sandy, As an avid reader of the Marshall Protocol list I'm convinced that it's important to test first. Here's a quote from a long-time member of the experimental list: ....both 1,25-OH-vitamin D and 25-OH-vitamin D should be measured, and the ratio of the first to the second should be calculated. If this ratio is significantly elevated above the normal value of 1.25 defined by Dr. Marshall, vitamin D should not be supplemented, even though the level of 25-OH-vitamin D may be below normal. In fact, based on Dr. Marshall's work, consideration should be given to reducing the intake of vitamin D and reducing the exposure to sunlight. Further information on this subject can be found at Dr. Marshall's website (www.sarcinfo.com). A.
