at 3.5 was wearing a toddler size 9.5 wide. The only shoes that

really

fit her well are from Stride Rite, and fortunately we have an outlet not too

far away. This last pair of tennis shoes wasn't that cheap there tough

because

they had the lights on the bottom. But, she tried on/threw across the store

(and this isn't like her) at least 8 other pair of tennis shoes, and when

she

put those light ones on, she walked around, jumped up, and said, " Go Bye

Bye " .

I don't know if she even noticed the lights until the next night when it was

dark,

but after wrestling her for over a half an hour at the store, I would have

bought just

about any pair she actually walked in!

PS. And she's NOT my picky shoe kid, my 6 year old is!

This year we got the slip on style that is so popular. They are really great

looking - gray and black with a little yellow. Got 'em at Wal-Mart for about

$12. They are even easier to put on than the velcro ones - plus you don't

have to worry about all that fuzz sticking to the velcro!

Karrie is 5.6 and wears a 3-4T in clothes. She's 36 " tall and weighs 38

lbs. She is in a size 8 shoe, finally. I have trouble finding clothes

that don't look too " cutesy " for her.

<< I'm curious what size shoe your children wear

(and how old they are).

>>

Ted is wearing a pair from summer...it is size 4. I just got rid of a 3 1/2

that he was wearing cause he said ouch and I think it is getting too small.

Some shoes that are one size seem similar to another in fit that are another

size. I can only afford payless shoes for Ted. Last trip I bought him a

size 6 but it was a wide black velcro one that may be useful in the future.

I bought myself 2 pairs of shoe like slippers in womans size 8 and Ted

snagged one pair from me. They do stay on his feet and he prefers them

without socks. Shoes and clothes are so hard for us. I was going to

respond to the pants thread and may still do so. is right...I think

we have this conversation every year/

My daughter is almost 9 (Februrary birthday) she wears a 13 - 13 1/2, it is

next to impossible to find her shoes, you know the pretty girly shoes. We

have been in luck that the styles went to the wide toes, but we still find

that many have wide toes, but are still narrower close to the top of the

foot. She too has very wide feet and her ankles roll in, so she looks like

she is flat footed (this weak ankle thing could be related to the DS, but I

think that she just gets it from me). We had inserts made to go into her

shoes to help support her ankle a few years ago, but then it became

impossible to get shoes to fit, so we gave up that idea. My mother in law

told me to spend a little more $ on the shoes during school time (get nice

soled shoes ) and take them to the cobbler, have him put an insert into the

sole of the shoe ( on the inside) to take care of the ankle roll. We haven't

tried this yet, maybe next year. One thing I will spend $ on is a nice pair

of shoes. Stride Rite carries a variety of widths. Of course even Wal-Mart

now is carrying some wide widths in girls dress shoes, I just love that.

Let me know if any of you hear of other places or brands that make good

fitting shoes.

New Balance makes a good, wide shoe with some depth. I get them at

Footlocker. I wear them as well, since I also have wide feet.

Kaitlyn just turned 8; she is 41 inches, weighs 40 lbs. and wears size 12

1/2 shoes. Kaitlyn is really trying to tye her own shoes now, but we are

not quite there. My oldest, now 11, didn't tie shoes until end of 2nd

grade. He now wears the slip on tennies. The less fine motor involved the

better for him. Has something to do with SI disorder. Finding shoes for

him was a real pain until the slip ons arrived.

Hi :

My son Evan will be 6 years old on Dec. 20th and he wears a size 8½ wide

tennis shoe.

(Now...about Kohl's)....My whole family swear that I named my new baby (born

Nov. 17th) after this store named Kohl's. I swear I never heard of this

store until after he was born. I Iove the name " Cole " but I just wanted to

spell his name different from everyone else's. We don't have a " Kohl's "

store around here, that I know of. Is Kohl's like a Wal-Mart? Just

wondering.
