Guest guest
Our middle school actually did a pretty good job of handling yesterday's events, a lot better than my daughter's middle school did. 's school announced what had happened, and her social studies teacher (ex marine) said we'd " probably be at war tomorrow!'At least they didn't watch TV! At my school, the principal made announcements for teachers to check email immediately three or four times. The first email gave a quick summary of what was going on and told teachers not to turn on TVs. The second suggested that, when asked, we tell students that we were waiting for details and rather than give misinformation, we would wait. The last was a plan to get students back to homeroom at the end of the day (We stayed throughout the normal workday because parents were probably going to be caught in traffic to get the facts. The principal did a good job. He told the kids not to jump to any conclusions, to go straight home and stay there, that parents might arrive at home very late, and, if they were too upset to be alone, to leave a note for parents before going to a trusted friend or relative's home. BTW the principal had a relative working at WTC. Now I'm getting anxious to do something. Believe it or not, it's not that easy to donate my O negative blood here. Delta airlines put him on a flight that has since been canceled. He's down in Louisiana...at least he has Bourbon Street to keep him occupied. He doesn't do well being away from us for too long. He's really homesick. At least he is safe and he will eventually get home..when, we just don't know. There are some changed being made at airports. Only passengers can get past the security checkpoint and on to the gates. More ID's will be requested. More time will be spent checking passengers and baggage. There will be more parking restrictions and no more parking in front of the airports. Congress is asking for armed marshalls on flights now. Guest guest
Kym, I'm praying your family will be reunited soon. I'm just speechless about all of this. It's so hard to believe and it seems I've been constantly in prayer. That's the way we're suppossed to be living anyway, it's just a shame something like this has to happen to wake us up! I truly feel sorrow and pain for all the families that were involved in these attacks. Warmly,

Guest guest
I know I am a bit late but I wish to add my condolences for all the people who have and are still suffering in America. You are all in my prayers. South Africa is also still in a state of shock. I took Tuesday afternoon off because my nanny had business to do. was happy to have me home and we had been looking at TV when I changed channels and saw CNN live. It was like looking at a movie. I could not believe what I was seeing. We have only 4 (non-paid) TV channels here. Channel 3 broadcast CNN for the rest of the afternoon and in the evening Channel 2 took over and later Channel 3 again. I usually avoid the news because our news is usually bad and negative, crime and violence and accidents. But since Tuesday I have been following the news and praying for you all there. Love , Mom to , from South Africa.
