Welcome Kris.....We have, what, 3 lists in common now :) All by accident LOL

Denisa

Introducing Myself

Hello Everyone,

My name is Kris, I'm 30, married, with 2 kids ages 11M, and 5F. I just

realized between yesterday and this morning that I know someone on this

list!

<waving to Denisa!> I'll be as brief as possible with my diagnoses, bear

with me.

I have had Autoimmune Chronic Bilateral Meniere's Disease for five years

now. In human terms that basically means I am losing my balance and hearing

in both ears, at a fairly rapid rate. I walk with a cane or walker, or some

days I prefer to just fall over and lay idly studying how dirty my ceiling

is

<grin>. Death be punishment to those who move my furniture or leave Legos

laying about! I have the whole place mapped out by touch because when

vertigo is bad I can't rely upon visual cues.

Next, I have had fibromyalgia for eleven years.

Also, I have chronic nightly insomnia.

And, I have PCOS- " Polycystic Ovarian Disorder " and insulin resistance as

a result.

Finally, I just had double pneumonia and a small heart attack when I was

hospitalized for quite a while in october, and now they are saying I have

'COPD'- " Chronic Pulmonary Obstructive Disorder " yippee me...I'm a die-hard

smoker but that term " die-hard " has now taken on a whole new meaning. I'm

going to try the patch I guess and see if I can quit, ughh. I'm supposed to

be on 3 liters of oxygen 24/7...but I stop for the occasional smoke break (I

know, but Rome wasn't built in a day.) Once I have the patch it will be

easier. As it is I've cut down from 2 packs a day to maybe 4 cigs per day

because I can't breathe, I think my pneumonia might still be rolling around

in there I hear strange noises but not from my asthma. I also have to do

nebulizer treatments every 4 hours for my asthma and other lung problems.

OK I do believe that's it for diseases and disorders. Can I take

mysterious maladies for $500, ? lol

Thanks for listening everyone.

Be Well,

Hi Kris! Welcome! Meniere's huh? Few people on here with that...I have

Mondini's dysplasia. Similar to Meniere's, but is caused by a deformity of

the cochlea. I also have Fibromyalgia and PCOS, and just diagnosed with

insulin dependent type 2 diabetes. Sorry to hear about the pneumonia and

heart attack.....but congrats on the smoking! Cutting down as much as you

did is tough...I know..I'm an ex-smoker. This is a safe place to vent or

ask for help. Again, welcome!

Kris,

The Mondinis is bilateral. Congenitally deaf in my left ear (no middle ear

bones at birth) My right ear I lose more hearing every year, so yeah, it is

progressive. I've been taking sign language classes at my college...and

since being born deaf in one ear, I have pretty awesome lipreading skills.

My mother didn't know I was deaf in one ear until I was 5. She put the

phone up to my left ear, and I told her I don't hear there. I understand

the wanting to get it over with.....I get so many ear infections...when I

have an ear infection my hearing gets worse, then when it goes away my

hearing gets better....it is like a terrible rollercoaster that I can't get

off of. I do have hearing aids...I don't wear them often though...the sound

just isn't natural...and not to mention I've been afraid of flushing

toilets since I wore them....KABOOM!!! Sounds like an atomic bomb. Music I

don't worry about. As it is now, I mainly feel vibrations...in my car

people always look at me funny cause I have the music cranked up loud! They

must think I am one of those punks.....nope...just like music is all. Music

is so much more than sound...the vibrations are also an important part.

Think about it...what makes us keep to the rhythm with a song? The

bass...which creates vibrations....cool huh? ;)

I believe with all my heart that civilization has produced nothing finer

than a man or woman who thinks and practices true tolerance.

Re: Introducing Myself

Hi ,

Pardon me for prying..are you bilateral? Do you have hearing loss and

if

so is it progressive? Big bummer on the diabetes you have my sympathy

....I'm being treated like a type 2 diabetic (but not insulin

dependent, I take Glucophage and Glyburide) right now because my body is

under such stress that my bloodsugar is through the roof, so I can relate.

I

hate the stupid pen thingy that you poke your finger with LOL I jump every

time! My heart goes out to you though.

My hearing loss has deteriorated over the past five years and sometimes

I

wish I would just wake up deaf and get over it! But, oh...will I miss

music.

I have music playing morning noon and night because I want to hear all that

can be heard before I can't hear anymore. Drives my husband batty. Tough,

hee hee.. I had a 65dB loss bilaterally last time I was at the doc. I was

supposed to go to the doc again in october for an audiogram and checkup

(we've had moderate success with injecting steroids into my middle ear via

my

eardrums....ouch!)

But I was in the hospital so I missed the appointment. Now it will take

forever to get an appointment, as is par for the course with most

specialists. Take care and have a good day, . :o)

Hi Kris, welcome to our group!!! I'm Helen, 51, from Ohio...I have 19 diseases and illnesses at the moment...There's a lot of nice folks here...I also have the severe form of Fibromyalgia... Everything you have, someone on the list also has...So if you have any question, I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you the best that they can...Sorry I am late with getting back to you, but haven't been feeling well lately...

Do you have a lot of family support??? That does help...They don't understand it all, but some of them do try their best...Are you able to take care of yourself at the moment??? In 99 and 2000 I was in a wheelchair, but I have been able to get around without it since the middle of last year... I only use my cane now, when we are going for walks or I know I will be on my feet for an extended time...Yes, having disability's does make one feel depressed...Hope you have a good Dr. that understands that...NO, YOU ARE NOT A NUT CASE :o) You are human !!! What are they doing now about the spot on your lung??? Can't they fix the collapse in your lung???

I know, I'm the one with all the question's :o)

Hope to see ya posting...No post is too short or too long...

((( Welcoming Hugs )))

Helen

Hello All,

My name is Kris. I am 30 yrs old, married to a wonderful man 19yrs older

than me, and have 2 kids ages 11yrs (son Dakota-aka-'Koty') and 5yrs

(daughter ). I have several physical problems and I feel like I am in

my 90s not my 30s!

I have had fibromyalgia for eleven years. I have Meniere's disease-a

disease of the inner ear causing progressive hearing loss and loss of balance

function/and increasing vertigo...each 'attack', named a 'drop attack' causes

me to fall to the floor and vomit violently...ugh! I am unable to get up

sometimes for several hours becuase I literally can't tell which way is up.

I have "moderate to profound" hearing loss (over 65dB loss bilaterally (in

both ears)) and walk with a cane because I am so wobbly--I tend to walk into

things or trip and fall flat on my face. But, as Debra Winger said recently

on Bravo,..."Falling on your face implies you are making progress in your

life and actively moving forward, falling on your behind implies you are

sitting and waiting for life to "happen to you". I really liked that quote.

Anyway, I also have PCOS-Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which caused me to be

insulin resistant and to gain a large amount of weight because it screws up

one's hormones really badly, and now I'm having trouble maintaining a healthy

blood sugar level, so they think I may have gone diabetic. I also have

Pernicious Anemia which simply requires a shot of B12 in the behind once a

month. I see a rheumatologist for the fibro, an endocrinologist for the

pernicious anemia and PCOS, an otolaryngologist for the Meniere's, ---and a

pulmonlologist & psychiatrist/therapist for what I am about to describe below.

In October 2001 I was hospitalized for double pneumonia which quickly

turned into a collapsed lung and episodes of ventricular tachycardia. The

heart rythm problem is still a big concern whenever I exert myself, and my

left lung, in the lower lobe, is still collapsed, and I have an "odd spot" on

that lung that will not go away, which scares the living daylights out of me.

I've been through 5 courses of antibiotics to get rid of said spot, with no

success. All of this has kind of forced me to face my own mortality, which

has been difficult especially with such a great family surrounding me. I'm

also under psych care because I am manic-depressive (and possibly

agoraphobic...but who would want to leave their house when the chances of

falling over are so great and so embarrassing!) -- and manic-depressive

illness runs in my family; and I think is a typical reaction to chronic

illness (the depressive part anyway). Boy would I like to trade this body of

mine for a newer, better functioning model!

Well, that's me, in a rather large nutshell...or shall I say nutcase?

(laughing...I'm not psycho don't worry about that). I really look forward to

getting to know everyone, I feel so alone...my family tries to understand but

those who are 'healthy' really can't relate no matter how they try. Thanks

for listening, everyone. If anyone has any questions about me feel free to

ask. (hugs) to all.

Be Well,

Kris in Wisconsin

Welcome Mrs. P.,

Glad to have you join our group...you will find great support here.

Congratulations on the 11 pounds...sounds like you are doing great! We

started about the same place...I started with 110 - 120 to lose...you can do

it!

> My first major weight-loss hurdle was an addiction to soda (Mt.

> Dew). I'm over the caffeine addiction & have eliminated all soda

> (including diet & caffeine-free) from my diet.

>

I still struggle with my affection for Diet Coke...I am constantly having to

monitor my intake so I do not drink too much. I drink a lot of fluid so I

still get more than enough water in...I just want my Diet Coke! This is my

last bad habit and I am holding on tight! LOL I sound like a spoiled five

year old! hehehehe

The water will also improve your skin...my face looks younger and thinner

than it did 15 years ago when I weighed less. The formula you used to figure

your daily intake is a good one...lots of folks use that.

Well, your program looks like it is working. I use Simmon's food

mover and folks here use a variety of different programs. As long as it is

balanced and teaches portion control you are on the right track.

Have a great day!

Welcome to the group :) Keep on whatever program you are on and that feels

right for you. This group has various different programs in it. I am on a

vegan, nonfat program that follows Dr. J. McDougall and Dr. Dean Ornish (veg

not vegan). It is the way I want to eat for the rest of my life because it

is healthy for me and I enjoy it (meat has never been a favorite of mine, so

I can do without it). This group is all about support and we are here to

give it.

Take care

Congrats on coming out of lurkdom and taking the challenge. Just

wanted you to know I do see changes in your photos. You're losing

the fat off your back and it looks like your belly too. Take a side

pic and I'm sure you'll see a bigger difference from now to the end

of your challenge.

Keep going!

Congrats on coming out of lurkdom and taking the challenge. Just

wanted you to know I do see changes in your photos. You're losing

the fat off your back and it looks like your belly too. Take a side

pic and I'm sure you'll see a bigger difference from now to the end

of your challenge.

SueS,

Welcome.

If you have a very stubborn bug in your gut, you may have to attack

it more directly to get the upper hand, before using glutamine and

the oils to rebuild the gut, and probiotics to repopulate with the

beneficial bugs. You might consider trying Dr. Corsello's bowel

scrubbing protocol before doing the others, which appear to be

similar to her bowel soothing and bowel repopulating protocols. See

's message #56249.

Hi Robin

I'm Anya, the hostess of this group -- and you are polite! I usually forget

to welcome new members, and maybe it's a resolution impolite ol' me should

make for the New Year.

I always find it's helpful for new members to search the archives. There

are thousands of messages full of great info. I've saved a lot of them to

my harddrive, in case ever crashes, or loses them. I like getting the

messages via email for that reason, too. To view the archives, just click

on 'messages' on the left side of the homepage, and to search the archives,

just type in a word you're interested in in the 'search' box. Soap might be

a good start!

Otherwise, just click on message #1 and open a new browser to 'expand all

messages' and cruise through them (might take a week or so in your spare

time.) I like this method so much, I might put it in the welcoming message

to the group.

PS you're in Alaska, I'm in toasty Miami, FL, and we have members from all

over the world to share all kinds of local tincturing and whatnot

knowledge. Glad you joined.

Welcome . This is a great place for you to get information on the

dangers of vaccinating your children.

In your spare time (LOL) you could browse through the archives and find lots

of valuable information.

I am a former RN, 37 year old mother of a 14 year old daughter and a 12 year

old son.

Kay from KY

Hi My name is . I am 30 years old and have been married to my dh for 12

years. We have 4 girls 10, 9, 7, 6 and 3 boys 4,2,16 months. I'm mostly a

sahm but am attending school to become an R.N.

I post at mothering and that's how I found this group..I'm so glad too..I

need all the info I can get. My 16 mo. has not been vaxed since he was 6

months and my 2yo not since he was 12 months.

I'm looking forward to reading all the posts :)

Her book is really interesting, and she gives advice about giving vaccines

at the end. I personally, don't think we should give our kids any

vaccinations, although unfortunately I did give my dd most of them, that was

until I became more informed on vaccines - but the information in her book

is otherwise very good.

Best wishes

Thank you Kay..I went back and foreth in the past. I questioned the doctor

about the rise in autism and vaccinations. She assured me that it was all

safe, even to get 4 at a time, so I continued on vaxing my 2 yo. She even

went on to say Autism was genetic. I've been reading the book What your

doctor may not tell you about children's vaccinations..by Cave.

It's very interesting.

I'm going to read through the posts, although it will take a month I'm sure.

Yes, she actually thinks you can safely vaccinate - HAH!

So, I am extremely concerned that, although, she has helped many damaged,

she is continuing to be PART OF THE PROBLEM

There is no way to vaccinate with any vaccine safely. No way on this earth
