Guest guest
Congratulations on your great weight loss and welcome to this fabulous group! They will keep you motivated, keep your spirits up and make sure you don't get discouraged! Plan plan plan - hit those 10's and GOOD LUCK! Rita newbie Hi all - I'm new to this group and BFL. I'm 38, a SAHM to the two bestest kids (im biased) Grayson(4) and Delaney(aka DJ 2). Who needs to exercise when you're running after two little ones all day every day?!?!?!? I do I do!!! I got lucky and found this group through Skwigg's () website. Thanks ! You all (ya'll - I'm in Texas!) sound like a great group of people! I've lost 113 pounds with the " typical " diet - low fat, high carb, with a little help from my doctor, blah, blah, blah! The weight came off but I was left with this " wiggly stuff " all over me! I really belived that this was just how it was going to be and was destined to a life of capris and 3/4-length sleeve shirts!! Then I discovered Skwigg's website and Bill ' Body for Life. As I was reading about all of the transformations, I thought " if they can do it, then, by golly, so can I!! " . Pam Brown's story is phenomenal! If she can find the time, strength and motivation, then I CERTAINLY don't have an excuse!!! So here I am - C1W3D1 - and I feel better than ever! Sorry this is so long but I am so excited!!! {{{{breaking into very bad rendition of song by pointer sisters}}}}!! I am looking forward to the swift kick in the arse that I sometimes need to stay on track!!! Thanks for letting me join in!! Vickie

Guest guest
Serenity - I just read on your " not quite " BFL site <{ that you will be able to wrap a " regular size towel around my body when stepping out of the shower " . Before I lost all of that weight, that was one of the main pains in my @ss every day! I would get so pissed because half of my body would be hanging out of the towel! (sorry for the language - as you can tell I still get worked up over it!). And the day that you are able to wrap that regular size towel all the way around you, my friend, is definitely one of the better moments of life!! I can attest to that!! *jumping up and down with a big - no - huge smile* It may take two weeks, two months, two years, but so what? All we have is the rest of our lives. And doing what we are all doing, our lives are probably going to be just a little bit longer!!!! YEA!! Guest guest
LOL, yep. Hubby recently came home with a new towel. My mom got us a ton of them as a Christmas gift. But I swear they are water repelant! Any way, he comes home with this HUGE towel. he said " well the rack said 2 for 16 bucks " .What it really said was a double towel for 16 bucks. A family of 5 could use it as a blanket! It wraps around me about 3 times. But I love it ) > > > > > > > > > Hi all - I'm new to this group and BFL. Guest guest
Vessa, My advice is to keep it simple and go by portion sizes and cook just by combining foods from the list together. You will find lots of recipes here and other BFL sites that use foods not on the list like ff cheese, cream cheese, cream soups, etc. These recipes are authorized because they work out to be low in fat and approximately equal in carbs and protein. If you use these types of recipes, then I think you HAVE to track calories so you know how much you are taking in. If you stick pretty much to the list, then all you have to do is estimate your portion sizes. A portion of meat is the size of your palm, not including fingers. A portion of carb, like potatoes or rice is the size of your clenched fist. For simplicity's sake, most people estimate the cup measure of their fist and then use that measurement for both carb and protein. The smallest fist I have heard of was 1/2 cup and the largest 1.25 cups. I think most women are around 3/4 cup. So if you don't really like to cook, just keep it simple with grilled or baked chicken, fish, lean burgers, steak, potatoes, brown rice, and some steamed veggies. Or a sandwich on whole wheat. Most portion sizes will be 2 slices bread, mine was 1.5 beacuase I have teeny hands. Grill chicken, cut it up,cut up a tomato and mix it all with pasta. Taco salad with ground beef, beans, lettuce, onion, topped with salsa. Veggie omelette with grilled potatoes on the side. Cottage cheese with any kind of fresh or frozen (no syrup) fruit mixed in. IF you do like to cook, just get creative and toss a carb and a protein in a pan, saute some chopped veggies, and add seasonings. I make a mexican skillet with rice, meat, onion, green peppers, salsa. Or a stir fry with chicken, garlic, veggies, ginger, a little soy sauce served over rice. I LOVE the stuff I cook, but I also blend cottage cheese with splenda and call it pudding, so you may not want to take any advice from me!! Lynda 15 months and still going strong! Guest guest
Welcome to the club! I find that if I keep it simple, most days, I do much better, so usually I'm not doing more than putting some Mrs Dash on the chicken before I grill it. However, I see that you have been directed to several good sources for recipies, so you should be able to find lots of stuff to make. My suggestion is to measure your percentage of body fat and forget about a specific goal weight. As long as you're getting leaner and smaller it doesn't matter what you weigh. I'm an inch taller than you and I also weighed 115 in starvation mode. The funny thing is, muscle is heavy stuff and it doesn't take up much room. I got heavier and smaller. The jeans I wore at a flabby 115 still fit at a muscular 135, and as an added bonus, nothing jiggled! So, go by your pant size and your percentage of body fat, not what the scale says. If you have a tape measure, you can estimate your body fat online. http://www.biofitness.com/abodyfat.html (BTW, ignore the crazy food pyramid calorie/portion recommendations on that site. It will tell you to eat 11 loaves of bread a day or something nuts.) You don't have to give up coffee or even cut back. Caffeine can actually help with your energy levels and your weight loss. Just make sure you drink LOTS of water because caffeine can be a little dehydrating. The general guideline is to drink an extra glass of water for every caffeinated drink. I'm very alert and I gurgle when I walk. Also, you're welcome to eat a lot of junk food... one day a week. I really like Doritos, and Krispy Kremes, and pepperoni pizza. I can still have them on BFL. That's the beauty thing! :-) Get started! You'll be so pleased with your results. Let us know if you have more questions. newbie Hi everyone. I sent an email out before, but my computer crashed and I don't think it went through. I'm trying to start the BFL program. I'll have to do everything at home since we don't have the money to join a gym or purchase the supplements. I have food sensitivities to wheat, egg, garlic, peanuts, yeast, so I have to watch what I eat to begin with. I don't stay away from all those foods, but definately try to stay away from the peanuts and garlic. Right now I am a 34 year old mom of one child (unless you count my husband!). I'm 5'7 " and weigh 135 pounds and sometimes get up to 140. I used to weigh 115 which I think is too skinny. I'd like to get down to 120-125 with some of that being muscle weight. I've told myself I refuse to purchase any more clothing in a size 10 and I've stuck to that rule. If I want something new, I have to buy it in a size 8. When I get to a size 8, I'll see if I want to go down to a size 6. I've tried starting the BFL program before but didn't have the willpower to not eat a lot of junk food. I know I can't give up my coffee. I need at least one cup a day. I think I could give up everything else though (even chocolate - gasp). I know I'm going to need this group for encouragement and support. I've looked at the photos online of people who've completed the challenge and I love the changes. I guess I'm afraid of failing - and thus am failing right there. So, I need to get off of my butt and get moving! Thanks everyone. Guest guest
Hi Terina! I'm new with you. I have started the program before too. I actually finished the first round although I ended it doing a different workout from the BFL. I *have* to change my workout to keep it interesting. Since then I've started and not finished. My body is almost back to where it was when I started the first challenge. I'm 5'4 " and around 132 and about 30% body fat. I wear a 6 or an 8 depending. At my best last April I weight 125 with I think 27% body fat. Then I was wearing a 4 or 6 so I guess you can safely say I've gone up a dress size. I'm not so concerned about that as I am dropping body fat. By the way, we have a very accurate machine here at home I use called Body Composition Test. I don't know if you or any others reading this post know much about blood typing but I'm a blood type A and that blood type has to work the hardest to get results. Bummer!! But... it can be done. Today I am listening to the BFL cassette tapes to work up the motivation to begin. Yup! I haven't started yet but I will. I have been lamenting about it being near the holidays and if I begin now then eating will be restricted during all the fun times. It has occurred to me that this is THE BEST time to have restrictions to keep from gaining more. I figure that if I start soon, in a couple weeks I will have dropped a few pounds of fat (being a small framed body, a couple pounds of weight gain can makes such a huge difference) and on my way to a little muscle gain. I will continue to listen to the tape and do the written exercises to prepare myself. Shana > Hi everyone. I sent an email out before, but my computer crashed and I don't > think it went through. Guest guest
Hey Debra~ Welcome to the group! You can compelete a challenge if you put your mind to it! I think in the book it says if you have a set back NOT to give up! The longer you keep going the setbacks will lessen... But if your health is important to you, I think that's ALOT to motivate!!!! GOOD LUCK!!! ~kim newbie Hi gals, Just a note to say Hello. I'm 37 and live in Georgia. I'm starting my 5th BFL challenge next week when i get back from vacation. I actually finished the first one back in 2000. Then for some freaky reason just quite. I signed up 3 times this past year and didn't finish a single one. But this has to be it. I'm 60 pounds over- weight with a family history of diabetes, cancer, and hypercholesterolemia. I'm gonna die if I don't get myself fit. I'm already experiencing shortness of breath on a fairly regular basis. It's been fun reading all your messages and I can't wait to try the CC/Jello combo. It sound really good. So far the only way I like CC is mixed in lasagna I'll have to save it for my free days now. Debra
Guest guest
Hi Debra: Welcome! I am 53 and also finished a challenge in 2000 and then, due to a lot of job and family stress, plus meeting a great new man who is a super cook--put it all back on. So I am here doing C2. In the past year, I have lost 12 pounds but want to lose 15-20 more and really get in great shape--AND learn how to stay that way. I look at this as a lifestyle change. I did not like being fat--even my feet complained. I am already feeling much better and know that this is the way to go. JUST DO IT! This group keeps me focused because I love coming here and reading about other people and what they are doing to get fit. If I dropped out, I wouldn't have this group, so it keeps me motivated. Good luck and keep posting! Marti C2 W1 D5 > Hi gals, > Just a note to say Hello. I'm 37 and live in Georgia. I'm starting > my 5th BFL challenge next week when i get back from vacation. Guest guest
Hey Jen- Welcome to the group!!! The best fat burner is BFL! There are ALOT of people who have very good success without supplements! Just follow the program and you will have results! Check out the photos in the club section for in2nailzz its Kim who's on this list and she doesn't use anything. Straight proof you don't need anything! Good luck! ~kimmah NEWBIE HI, all.. I'm Jenn from Arkansas; and I'm new to the BFL program. I have about 40-50 lbs. to lose; and I was wondering if anyone knew of any fat burners that I could possibly try in order to help my workouts go a bit better. I can't take anything with a stimulant or caffeine, so I fear there is nothing out there to help me with the fat-burning process. Could someone please help? Thanks...
