Best recommendation I can make is to make the drive down to The Cleveland Clinic. You're not going to find more experience in achalasia anywhere in this area than what you'll find at TCC. If you read around in the old posts, you'll see that several members of the group have traveled from several states away just to get treatment at TCC. Make sure you check with your insurance company, if you have an " out of network " clause. I'm sure others here have it. I want to say it's trice@... but I could be mistaken. TCC is a great place to go and VERY experienced. My husband has DES (similar, but different from Achalasia) and we're from the Detroit area. In his case, they had a hard time making a correct diagnosis. When his Beaumont doctor was stumped, he first sent him to U of M. When the U of M doctor wasn't telling us the name of what he had (just that it was a motility disorder) and wasn't really offering much to help the symptoms, I researched and found this group. Debbi and other members recommended CCF and we could tell the difference in expertise there. Even the equipment they used for tests was more sensitive and geared toward motility problems. Also, if you are considering surgery you want to find a surgeon who has LOTS of experience with that particular surgery to help your odds of success. Dr. Rice has that experience (and so do a handful of others in the country). Good luck and please keep us posted! > > Hello I'm 28 and was recently diagnosed.
