Hello sandra and welcome to the masgutova family! I have heard a famous qote that the only guarantees in life are death and taxes, so I will not guarantee anything. I am happy to say that I have never seen anybody who did not progress with the masgutova method! I believe you are at the beginning of a great journey! I have just learned that OCD stems from issues in the basal ganglia of the brain. Svetlana can surely help release any pressure that may be there.

Good luck - I hope your gains continue. If the OCD started after

strep, you should look into PANDAS (if you have not already).

How to detect and the treatment? E.g. the strep in the brain? As I know it's related to immune system. PANDAS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated

with Strep.

This is a brief description from

http://www.internationalpandasfoundation.org/obsessivecompulsivedisorder/Home.ht\

ml

- the International Pandas Foundation Site:

" Sometimes when children present with difficult behaviors they are given a

mental health diagnosis without considering whether an infection might be the

root cause of the disorder. When the child's behaviors are the result of strep

antibodies attacking the basal ganglia of the brain, the condition is known as

PANDAS: Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep.

Once the condition is triggered by strep, subsequent exacerbations can be caused

by other bacteria or viruses such as the flu. "

This can result in OCD, ADHD, motor & verbal tics, etc.

Hope that this is helpful - there is much more information on the site itself.

Take care,

~ Keri

Welcome Heidi! I am Heidi too. I'm not too far from you either, just a little south in Palm Harbor. We just started working with a lady in Dunedin, Jami Guercia who knows Masgatova. Let me know if you would like her contact info or give me a call if you just want to chat about sensory processing. There is also a MNRI workshop coming up in Tampa in June.

Hello All,

My name is Heidi and I reside in Spring Hill, FL. My daughter Bree is 4 years old and was diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorder. We went through occupational, speech and communication therapy at All Children's in Pasco for 2 years. Bree started school for her speech impairment at the age 3 part time. This school year has been full days Monday - Friday.I stumbled into this group when I was on Dr. Masgutova's website. My daughter is regressing and I feel it is because she is now challenged with so much more in life. I was hoping to meet others that may have or is going through what I am and could possibly give me some suggestions on what therapies really have improved with their children.

I feel very grateful to have found this group.

We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

A warm welcome to the Feisty Forum, Ann C!

I meant to answer your post several days ago and hope you will forgive

the delay.

I wonder if some of your early treatment experience was military, as

mine was. I had my first fusion at age 13 at Walter in Washington,

during the years my dad was " a career man. " I had an additional fusion

as an adult, and that was when the trouble started, with the

nonsegmental instrumentation that is now defunct after crippling so many

of us (the Harrington rod). Others of us got flatback from the later

Luque rods, but almost any hardware will do when the doctor is

inattentive to the sagittal plane. Surgeons with little experience or

expertise in this area continue to cause flatback syndrome in their

unwitting patients. That's why it's imperative to find someone with lots

of training and practice in correcting our specific deformity. I

traveled 1,000 miles to get to a known flatback specialist for my first

revision procedure. The " name " people are all well equipped to handle

various deformities in any plane, not just the sagittal. Unfortunately

it doesn't always work the other way around, as you undoubtedly know: a

scoliosis surgeon is not necessarily qualified to perform flatback

revision (though a number of them are eager to try their hand at it and

may put considerable pressure on you to be their learning material!)

Assuming your general health is good -- especially your

cardiorespiratory status -- age should be no impediment to surgery.

Revision surgeons these days are tending more and more to operate on

older patients without giving it a second thought -- and by their

standards, 72 is young indeed. My second revision surgeon here in

Chicago, Ondra, operated on at least one woman in her late

nineties. She and her family were thrilled with the outcome.

Congratulations on resolving to take care of yourself and to research

your options as thoroughly as possible. We're very pleased to have you

as a member and look forward to sharing your journey with you.

Best,

tests will need to be done to determine just what can be done surgically

to alleviate some of my pain and partially correct my curves. Part of

my diagnosis is flatback. This is not due to any previous surgery. I

remember being told by an Air Force doctor that I had flat back and I

was told this when I was 17. I had no idea what this meant and no

treatment or other information was given to me. He didn't mention any

other deformity such as scoliosis at the time.

<waves> Hi !

Nice to see other parents from the Ft. Lauderdale conference here.

Hope things are going well with you and . I'm still figuring out how to

have dedicated therapy time in a consistent manner. Despite my organizational

challenges, Ben seems to still benefit from our short, scattered sessions

together. :) Amazing stuff, this MNRI.

Hello everyone

My name is April, my son is Aidan and he is 10. He has a visual impairment and autism. We were very fortunate to attend Masgutova conferences in California in 2010 and found it really helped with Aidan's development and general awareness. Since moving to the east coast this year, we have seldom practiced but look forward to reconnecting and recommencing soon.

Best wishesApril McDevitt

Hi mandy xxxxxxxxxx

Thankyou for posting , i wanted everyone to see what you are going through to

see if they come to the same conclusion as me, there IS a thyroid issure!!!!,

There are many excellent people on here who will be able to advise you and help

you.

This may be your first step to getting some of your life back.

Mandy - when you get your next thyroid function test results,

please ensure that the TSH, free TG4, free T3 have been tested and also TPO and

TgAntibodies. If these have not been tested, demand that these be done. We

allow our doctors to get away with murder and all they seem concerned about

lately is saving their surgery money, so don't bother doing the tests that are

needed. When you get the results, post them onto the forum together with

the reference range for each test done and we will help with their

interpretation. A doctor cannot withhold any information that is in your

medical records under the Data Protection Act 1998 - so be assertive.

You should also get your levels of ferritin, vitamin B12,

vitamin d3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc tested.

Luv - Sheila

I was seen by a Rheumatalogist 2 years ago and again few weeks ago. On my

recent visit to him he asked if I had been given any meds for my thyroid as it

was showing T4 8.8. I said no and told him that I wasnt even informed of the

results. He didnt say anymore apart from ordering more bloods. I spoke to my GP

about this and he said he wanted to do more bloods before giving me any meds

and they are showing that no treatment necessary.

I have an appointment with my GP at the end of the month and need to get him to

check back to 2 years ago and for any bloods done after as Im confused as to

why it would show T4 8.8 2 years ago and now it's " normal " .

Hi,

I am the mother of a seven year old. We have just started second grade and we

are having a tough time. My son from a behavioral aspect does well at school,

but this year he is struggling academically. I know that he finds it tough to

focus in a classroom versus one on one tutoring.

Up until this year, I have thought my child was just highly sensitive, but now

realizing he has consistent sensing seeking patterns and I am suspecting sensory

integration issues. We have lots of daily life struggles. He breaks down going

to school and then the first hour or more after he comes home from school

I have always been patient, but I am having a hard time to return to the same

place of difficulty that we had in his first year of school.

We are starting Mastugova and hopes this helps. I would like to know over what

time period (how many times per day) and over how many months, I might see a

shift with my child.

I am exited to learn more with this group.

Thank you.

Hi Signe welcome to the group. Do you have a diagnosis for him? have you got him

evaluated?
