Guest guest
You're welcome, Kathy Of necessity I am a very careful shopper, always was, but our family was hit with a layoff early in this recession so things have been extra difficult. I don't think good health and proper supplementation should cause hardship, and that deep value of mine has been partly what pushed me to find the iodine protocol. It's such a good health investment. -- At 11:46 PM 10/26/2010, you wrote: > >I had just recently ordered some 7% Lugol's from the UK but tonight took >a good look at the source recently recommended on ebay. Guest guest
Just so you know though. Some do not feel as well on liquid Lugol's as they do on Iodoral. I believe it has something to do with the way Iodoral is formulated and gets lower in the gut for absorption. Many of us have messed up intestinal systems. So if you have been taking Iodoral and then start on Lugol's liquid and don't feel as well this may be the reason. Steph interesting price comparisons I had just recently ordered some 7% Lugol's from the UK but tonight took a good look at the source recently recommended on ebay. After doing a bit of figuring I decided to stock up as it is unbelievably cheap. At my current dosage of 37.5mg the Lugol's from ebay will cost approx 48.00 US per year- compared to approx $360.00 a year for Iodoral (depending on your source) or approx $200.00 a year for the Logol's 7% from the UK. Guest guest
Yes, and some people have gotten upset stomachs with Lugol's, but with the Iodoral tablets, they don't dissolve until in the small intestine so any stomach problem is avoided. -- >Just so you know though. Guest guest
Dr. Mark Sircus offers this explanation for Iodoral's ease on the gut: " Iodine is an easily oxidisable substance. Food that is present in the digestive tract will oxidize iodine to iodide which is not corrosive to the gastrointestinal tract. Oral iodine appears to be inactivated by combination with gastrointestinal contents. Absorption is poor due to rapid conversion of iodine to iodide [ii] and this might explain why one needs to take very high doses of Iodoral or Lugol's compared to nascent iodine, which seems to bypass the digestive track altogether meaning its absorption starts right in the mouth and continues through direct penetration of the stomach tissues. " and then goes on to say: " Iodide has to be converted back to the nascent form in order to produce T3 and T4. Would the body not recognize nascent iodine as what is needed in the thyroid and take it there to avoid the steps of active transport to produce nascent iodine when it already has it available? This could explain why some people report that they feel the atomic form of iodine in their thyroid within 10 minutes. Is there really time for the iodine to get into the intestines and be converted into an iodide to be shipped to the thyroid? " Source of these quotes: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/ciencia/ciencia_iodine01.htm > > Just so you know though. Some do not feel as well on liquid Lugol's as they do on Iodoral. Guest guest
Hi, I mentioned this fact on the list a few times: 10% iodine solution [true Lugol's, not this 2% crap], should cost 0.01333USD+ per day, which is a grand total of 5USD per year for someone on 50mg/day. People are absolutely crazy to spend 360-550USD per liter for 2 to 4% iodine solution, fraudulently sold as 'Lugols'. Not much better are pricey Iodoral tablets -> 0.77USD/day for 50mg per day. And when I ask about availability, they say 'Ouhh, we can get it fine.' Yeah, for 500 Dollars. Lugol's, real 10% iodine solution, is in reality about 25 bucks, and you can make it yourself from eBay for about the same price I believe. 2% solutions are sold for prices ranging from 160USD/liter to 550/liter to gouge the cattle. And an amazon order of 2x bottles of 12.5mg Iodoral tablets is about 35USD. A fool and his money are soon parted. Guest guest
While the 10% you can make yourself is definitely cheaper, saying the 2% in not “true” in very incorrect. 2% and 5% and 7% is still Lugols, just in different concentrations from the 10%. Guest guest
,Just listened to a webinar by an Oregon natural doctor, Meletis anyway he mentioned something called Longvida for Chron's, IBS, Parkinson's, and Lou Gehrig's Disease. Possibly this Longvida supplement could help you heal. L-glutamate powder and rice protein shakes helped me to end the IBS after US biotek identified my genetic allergies to avoid sugar, yeast and dairy out of 300 possibilities. Pam. Guest guest
Here's the link for Lugol's 2.2% solution http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem & item=320494213873 & ssPageName=ADME:L\ :OU:CA:1123 I realized that in my original post I neglected to mention that the Lugols from ebay is 2.2% as opposed to 7% from the UK. However I did do the price comparison based on taking equivalent doses and even though you need a lot more of the weaker solution it's still a lot cheaper. Guest guest
That's correct. And in fact the original Lugol's was the 5%, so saying " true " for 10% doesn't have historical value. Guest guest
Nascent Iodine does not provide the milligram doses that are required for iodine therapy. It contains 400mcg per drop, not anywhere near what is required for therapeutic action. The question asked (in the excerpt) about time for iodine to be shipped to the thyroid doesn't make sense. If iodine didn't therapize the thyroid we wouldn't be getting better from our illnesses. Sorry but this is just a sales pitch for Nascent Iodine, which we know is inadequate for the iodine protocol. -- >Dr. Mark Sircus offers this explanation for Iodoral's ease on the gut: > > " Iodine is an easily oxidisable substance. Lugol's is the liquid, Iodoral is the tablet. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lugols-solution-4-fl-oz-2-2-iodine-/320494213873?pt=LH_Defau\ ltDomain_0 & hash=item4a9ef19af1 If you want to see his other products, click the See Other Items link under the seller's name. -- >Hi >I have Lyme disease that has caused a lot of arthritis. Guest guest
, Many people take Lugol's with apple or pomegranate juice. I've been putting it in cranberry juice, just a touch. Is there a reason you're saying plain water? That's not what we normally tell people. -- >It is best to take iodine in plain water, and I add stevia drops to make >the taste more palatable. > > /Israel > > > > > > > > So how do you take the Lugols, in water? Guest guest
I take my Lugols in plain water just as a regular morning routine......I am very sensitive to "tastes" and I use the 5% Lugols, about 7 drops in about 2 shot glasses of water and it has little to no taste...... Guest guest
, It's mainly my distrust of prepared juices that causes me to recommend plain (albeit filtered--filtered for both fluorides and chlorine) water. I've discovered that many brands of fruit juices contain exorbitant amounts of fluoride compounds, not to mention preservatives. Also, many add ascorbic acid ( " vitamin C " ), which counteracts the effect of the iodine (combining anti-oxidants with oxidants, canceling each other out). If you could find a juice that is pure, organic, non-constituted, and no preservatives added, it would last only a couple of days. However, if you squeeze your own juice, that's great. /Israel > > > > > > > > > So how do you take the Lugols, in water? Does it taste bad? Guest guest
I take 50 mgs of iodoral and the companion nutrients. I'm not too sure if it helps with bone loss or not.More or less I feel better and that is all that counts in my life right now, and all I do is get through each day. I'm also on Pentasa for my crohn's and am gluten-free. I don't eat processed foods nor do I eat out. I have felt better going gluten-free also. And I try to ride my bike everyday because exercise is important.I get my iodoral at the Breatcancer website. from IllinoisFrom: jacqui butterworth <jacquibutterworth@...>iodine Sent: Thu, October 28, 2010 3:18:50 AMSubject: Interesting price comparisons Hi I have Lyme disease that has caused a lot of arthritis. Guest guest
While some brave souls take Lugol's in water I find it revolting- maybe because I have been an RN for over 30 years and connect the smell with a host of other things lol!! I take mine in gel caps. I like to pour my 3 Cal/Mag caps into my AM protein shake (to decrease the number of caps I ingest). I've been keeping the caps for a rainy day and now I re-use them for the Lugol's. Guest guest
Hi You mention that you are gluten-free but no mention of being dairy-free. The evidence is huge that Crohn's and dairy allergies go hand in hand (I believe it's the cassien) Also you mentioned in an earlier post that you have abdominal pain. The fact that you are still having pain despite eliminating gluten suggests that your body is still reacting to something. Often those of us who have gluten intolerance also have a dairy intolerance. It's a bummer but you adapt! I just made the yummiest gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate pound cake for my kids' birthday dinner. No one will ever know it wasn't my original recipe which contained both regular flour and milk. Interestingly yesterday I was reading an article by Dr Brownstein on Crohn's and dairy intolerance. He says that it takes a full 6 weeks of being off dairy to eliminate symptoms. You might want to give it a try. One last thing- remember not to use soy products as a diary replacement! God bless! Guest guest
Hello Kathy, Your cake sound yummy. Any suggestions for if one has been gluten, soy and dairy free for over 6 months? I still have bloating, gas and abdominal pain when I eat. I want to eat but when I do I am always sorry. I am trying Apple Cider VInegar - Bragg's 2 tbsp after each meal to try to help this as a homeopathic remedy, but it doesnt seem to be helping either. Any suggestions? Thank you. Guest guest
Hi , I take mine in water w/a tsp. of ACV. I used to just take it in water, but, the acv seems to make it easier to take. The taste is somewhat strong, but, it doesn't bother me. I thought taking it in juice was a no no.Nonie > > , Many people take Lugol's with apple or pomegranate juice. Guest guest
Hi Nonie, That’s how Dr Jarvis in his book, Vermont Folk Medicine, suggests taking it. Taking it in carrot/apple juice is how they recommend it to those on the Gerson Therapy. It's been suggested not to take it in citrus juice. But vegetable juices are fine.
