I used to work for a internal medicine dr. and he would not give out new drugs, etc. He said he preferred to wait to find out if they were a healer or a killer. I would not take a new vaccine, personally, for this reason. Especially with what happened with the so called "safe" rotovirus vaccine. Then, they started saying the Hep B vaccines they were giving at first to thousands of newborns were unsafe. Money, money...that is what it is ALL about!

Hi, my name is Marisa, I have a daughter, who is 9 and a halfmonths old. I have been married to Mike for over 2 years.I do vaccinate, but I would like to get more information on all of thevaccinations. My Mom didn't let me get the 2nd dose of the DTP, becauseshe didn't know that much about it and she had heard too many horrorstories about it. has just gotten her 1st does of Prevnar. Welcome to the list. I am glad you are investigating vaccines. As

someone who almost lost her daughter to a serious hep B reaction and

someone who has attended almost all the congressional

hearings....vaccines are definately something to investigate.

The NVIC (www.909shot.com)held the 2cnd Vaccine Conference. There was a

Dr. Cantekin who spoke on Prevnar. He talked about how he wrote to the

Journal's yet they would not publish his concerns. You may want to go

to www.audiotapes.com Look up Public Health. This is the company that

audiotaped the conference. You can get the full conference tapes or

simply purchase individual ones. NVIC00V10b is the code for Dr.

Cantekin's speech. Also, make sure to get the vaccine package insert

not just the CDC information sheet. They are often completely different

with the information provided.

know i have.

as far as traveling with any documents--even with my first son (he is fully

vaxed up to 5 years old) ( we never carried our immunization card with

us. if for some terrible reason--like a car accident or something--you

needed to take him to an ER, when they ask if he's up to date, just reply,

" yes " --it is true in a sense, he's as up to date as he's gonna get, right??!!

why would they have any erason to believe he's not and give you any grief?

just my two cents--good luck!

I don't travel much but I always carry my Religious Exemption letter for both my sons.

When taking him to the hospital ER or the Urgent Care there, they ALWAYS ask if they

are up to date on his vaccines, I always say yes, without hesitation!! Because in my opinion they ARE up to date!

My doctor has one on file and I have one, but they are so wierd around here, one doctor out of the

three I had in this town was ready to turn me in for child neglect, the others had no problem with it.

So you never know.

A friend of mine went to NJ and was in the ER with one of her children, (her 4 yr old died from vaccines)

and they gave her a real hard time when she told them they were not vaccinated. They were going to

keep her kids there and all kinds of nasty stuff. She had to explain to them for an HOUR that her one

daughter died from it and she was not going to do her other children. Then they said, well...ok but we

will write it in her chart...like a threat. You just don't know what will happen in other places...they may not

care or you will get in all kinds of deep do-do!

Hi, my name is Amy... I have a soon to be 1 y.o. son (Nov 15th =o) ) ... his name is Quinn. He's my 1st born. I didn't start researching Vaccines til he was a couple months old... that was when I realized that I had a choice to vax and not vax. He has receieved 5 shots....and after that, I stopped. I heartily believe that Quinn's Ezcema was caused by the vaxs that he received. He was fine before he started getting them. And I was appalled by the indegridents (sp?) in the vaxs and I didn't really feel comfortable having him get some in the 1st place... I was a 1st time parent... after Quinn was born, I had started thinking and researching many things that never entered my mind before....because I wanted the best for Quinn's well - being. Filling him up with many toxins isn't the answer.

I'm still researching about vaxs... and that's why I joined this list to get more information.

I have a question for y'all..... Quinn and I will be travelling in a week or 2... I didn't think of this until a couple nights ago... I wonder if I will need anything .. like birth certificate or medical records or whatever for travelling? I live in Eastern U.S., and will be travelling to the Northwest What do you suggest if Quinn gets sick there and I need to take him to the dr and the dr wants to know about vaxs? TIA

hi karen,

welcome to the list. here in the us, we follow the 2, 4 and 6 month vax schedule. at which time infants recieve anywhere from 3 to 6 vaccines at a time. possibly 7 now with the prevnar--i'm not sure on that one...in any case--if you do decide to continue to vax, please consider spacing them out one at a time. not only will it be easier on your baby's system, but if there is a reaction, you will know which one it is from--when done all together you can't even ascertain which one caused the problem.

there are some on this list who do selectively vaccinate and some who choose no vaccines at all. we are here to just stay informed and to give support and info to one another--not to bash on those who don't agree completely.. i must say that over time many parents who thought they would just "look" into the idea of not-vaxing, have decided to completely stop vaxing, as they feel the risk of reaction is greater than the risk of getting the disease. but that will be up to you to see how you feel.

i know for myself, as i became more comfortable with not vaxing and as i became more knowledgeable about diseases and vaccines, i was able to decide to completely stop vaccinating my boys and i can honestly say, i do not worry over it anymore. if i did even selectively vax, i would worry each time they got one, so for me it is MUCH better this way. i have learned to notlive in fear of POSSIBLY catching a disease that MOST LIKELY won't be of any real danger to my boys. if they contract measles, mumps, whooping cough, CP, rubella, meningitis or diphtheria i believe we will get through those just fine. obviously, i would never want to risk getting polio, tetanus or hepatitis--but frankly the likelihood of my kids getting those is pretty remote--remote enough for me to live with comfortably.

these are choices you need to make for you and your children--our whole point here is that it should be an option for you--not one you are pressured into making through intimidation or fear. glad you are here, ask any questions you have and we will try to find info on the things you need to know. there are many OT--off topic discussions here also, they may be of interest to you too.

Hi and welcome,

Canada follows a 2,4,6,12,18 months schedule. Canada does not use the

Prevnar nor the Hep B vaccine in the first year. Hep B is usually given

around the age of 10-12 yrs old. Prevnar will probably be approved next

year for use in Canada. Also the Chicken Pox vaccine is approved in Canada

but not widely used yet.

In Canada the vaccine used in called " Pentacal " (sp?) it contains the DTaP,

Hib and Polio all together.

i'm karen and i'm holding my baby now so pleaese forgive my typing.

i'm american but my husband is english and we live in south oxfordshire. we

have 4 living children.

the older ones have had their shots but num. 3 has not had his booster mmr

because i wasn't sure. he's 5 now. i am trying to do more research and

come up with the right answer for our family. i dislike the idea of

vaccines but am not totally of the anti camp iykwim. i know my little one

(7 weeks)will be called up soon for his dtp maybe its dtap and polio and hib

and a menningitis one. even if i get him done i don't like the idea of so

many at once. also the baby schedule here is 2 3 4 months wehich is very

close. i've heard that in canada its 246 months.

i know this list is for those who have decided no vax but i hope it's ok

that i'm here and ask question even if i decide to have some done. with the

whole concept of vax i truly feel either way i go -do or not do - i'm

risking my children's health.

i would like to know how other countries do the vax; so often we just go

along with what the govt says without looking into why and how others do it

and why.

we homeschool too.

i look forward to learning more.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes!! I know this list is going to be very

helpful to me.

In response to 's question about why I chose to adopt a child with Down

syndrome (something I'm frequently asked). I'd thought about it for a long

time. I secretly (didn't tell any family or friends) went to orientation

meetings with different adoption agencies and then just sat on the idea for

several years. When I was in my 20's I thought I'd get married and have kids of

my own, when I hit my 30's that didn't seem as likely and that's when I got more

serious about the idea of adoption. When I first mentioned the idea to my

family (parents & sibs) they were all for it. When I mentioned the idea of a

child with special needs--they were not initially as receptive. Not that they

have any problems with kids with special needs--they are used to kids with all

sorts of disabilities--I've worked as a special ed teacher for 14 years and have

brought home numerous kids over the years. My family is very accepting of

individuals with disabilities. They were concerned about me--could I handle it,

did I want to handle it, would it be too much....I work all day and frequently

into the evenings and weekends with kids with disabilities--could I come home to

the same thing and stay sane and healthy??? Well, there was no doubt in my mind

that I would only adopt a child with special needs. I put Down syndrome as my

preference--just because of my experiences with kids with DS and my knowledge

about various disabilities I felt DS was something I would easily be able to

handle. However, I did not rule out other disabilites. I went " active " in

September of 1998 and had lots of calls about many different children--most with

severe disabilities physically, medically and mentally. I felt very bad turning

them away, but I knew that was not the type of child I could raise on my own. I

was also considered for several adoptions of children with Down syndrome--but

other 2 parent families were chosen over me. I was disappointed many times. I

was first called about Mac in December of '98. In January I was told another

family had been chosen for him. Disappointment again. On his birthday, April

12, I was called and told that adoption did not go through--was I still

interested? I was and the rest is history!! The funny thing about this is that

when I first started with this I ONLY wanted a little girl, I wanted her to be

under one year of age and I did not want any contact with the birth family. In

the end I got a perfect little boy at 15 months of age and I met his birth

parents. I wouldn't change a thing!! I have been blessed beyond belief!!

She is desperately seeking another birthparent of a child with DS to talk to.

you feel like your the only one and that you are a neglectful parent. I

Welcome Jill from us. I am an adoptive parent as well but my son with DS is

my natural son. My daughter is the adopted one and every grey hair on this

head came from her:)) She is 17 and has been with us since she was 6. She

has special needs in that she has memory problems, severe depression, and

ADD and I think that they are all connected to fetal alcohol.

is the easy one. He loves to play ball and eat pizza and watch

videos of Dr. Who (lately). He reads at 2nd grade level but we hope to

improve that when we get back to the mainland. (in Hawaii at present). Hope

to hear more from you. You will love the care and support you get here.

Welcome to the list Amber! I am pretty new here too, as far as

telling my husband- I let him know what I was researching, and then I

compiled some of the more scientific and researched information so he

could read them for himself. I also let him know often about what I

was reading about. My husband was a pre-med student for 3 yrs and is

a Civil engineer, so I knew he was going to have a hard time with the

decisions I was coming to. At first, his response was

always, " that's fine dear, very interesting, do what you want, as

long as you vaccinate him... " I prayed alot, because I believe in the

importance of our marriage, and that a strong marriage is important

for us as good parents, I knew that the really important things

needed to be agreed upon by both of us. So, I prayed more and

wondered what I would do if he wouldn't come around to my side, I was

more and more disturbed by the info I was finding and had gone from

wanting to delay further vaccines to not wanting anymore ever! My

husband finally agreed to delay further vaccinations untill our son

was 2yrs, and then we would discuss it further (better than nothing!)

but, after the way our ped. treated me, and after reading a few more

tidbits of info, including the recent polio vaccine caused outbreak

in Haiti, he seems to feel as I do, and he has even thanked God while

praying that I have been so diligent in searching out this

information, ( I wanted to cry when he said that, it's nice to be

appreciated!)

As far as grandparents, we decided not to say anything, it's

none of their business, and they know we go to Dr. visits regularly

(at least until I was flamed! that's going to change!) so they assume

we are doing the normal thing.

defect of a serious nature called a ventricular septal defect, a large hole

between the upper two chamber of her heart, along with a few other less serious

defects. We are currently attending Vancouver's Childrens Hospital, here in

Canada, where they are deciding whether or not surgery will be done in the next

little while or whether we may wait until she's a bit older. All of this was

the reason that I began my quest for knowledge about vaccinations.

I was

also born with a CHD, as was my Grandmother, and have spent a lot of time on

antibiotics being very careful not to become too ill. I have also witnessed my

Nanny having a major heart surgery due to illness at the age of 76. With that

in mind I couldn't see how injecting viruses into my baby could be a good idea.

(In all fairness I received all the recommended vaccinations and they have been

of no detriment to my health.)

Anyway,

I'm not really sure what else I should tell you all but thanks again for

allowing me join the group and I am looking forward to engaging your help in

making an informed decision.

Hi Jana...In all likelihood, the vaccinations that you were required to recieve are probably only a fraction of what they are going to try and give your daughter. (Who, by the way, has a rightous hairdo, smile) Please check out all the info carefully before putting these poisons into her pure little body. It's not just the viruses themselves, but what the vaccines are made up of that are so dangerous...
