Guest guest
: I also hate eggs and cottage cheese, but believe it or not, I LOVE the protein pancakes! I add some berries and splenda to mine and I don't think they taste eggy at all (you can even have some sugar free syrup on top). The other breakfast I often eat is a high fiber, low sugar cereal (such as Puffed Kashi or Go Lean or Shredded Wheat) with a ready-to-drink protein drink (I like Met-rx Ultra Pure Protein in vanilla cream). Good luck, Sherri > I am having a really hard time with Protein servings in the morning. > I don't really like eggs, and am not all that fond of cottage cheese - > especially in the morning!! Guest guest
Well, you can add lots of fruit (ie. 22g worth) I like adding frozen peaches, nectarines, strawberries, raspberries etc. Fruit can drown out alot. Is it possible that it has gone bad? I have cats, so I know the smell you are referring too, nothign edible should smell like that!! Laurie Re: Protein > > > ---Yuckkkkk. Guest guest
--- It is a shake. Chocolate. It has 22g of protein and 1.6g of carb. I bought it at an Organic health store thinking it was a great deal. Not to be gross but it smells like cat pee. It tastes like it smells. From now on I will stick with buying it at Costco. Any suggestions would be great. In , " Laurie " <laurie.smith@3...> wrote: > No need to panic , I am sure there some good ways to disguise it - is it a shake, or pure protein powder? Guest guest
, I would bring it back if it was that bad. I'd simply tell them I'd take an in store credit, but that I was certain there was something wrong with it. Most places are responsible with that kind of thing, provided they can keep your business. I remember being at a Mcs one time and a guy came up with a half empty chocolate shake, said it wasn't to his liking, too chocolaty - as if - they did give him something new. I personally wouldn't keep using it because I think it would mentally turn me off to all protein drinks. C

Guest guest
- Myoplex Lite Vanilla Cream powder is an excellent breakfast choice. I stick it in a blender with 8-10 ounces of water and 10-12 ice cubes. Sometimes I add a few frozen, unsweetened strawberries for a change. It's very filling and tasty. Good luck! -Amy > I am having a really hard time with Protein servings in the morning. > I don't really like eggs, and am not all that fond of cottage cheese - > especially in the morning!! Guest guest
You could do what I do, I don't know if it's " okay " but I mix up my protiens... Like in the AM, sometimes I'll have like 1/2 a portion of eggs and 1/2 a portion of turkey sausage and make an omlette. Or like you're doing the protien shakes. have you ever tried a myoplex? I use the Lite and I thnk its pretty good. Especially for when you don't wanna eat or too busy etc. Oh another thing I eat, is oatmeal and veggie sausage. Although it got expensive buying veggie sausage, we started buying turkey sausage, and it's a little higher in fat, but it's protien. But you don't HAVE to eat breakfast for breakfast KWIM? Most of the time I have a Myoplex for breakfast, cuz I get tired of eggs too! ~Kimmah Protein I am having a really hard time with Protein servings in the morning. I don't really like eggs, and am not all that fond of cottage cheese - especially in the morning!! I want to stick with this, as I'm still in week one, but the eating for life part is killing me!!! Should I just by protein shakes and drink those in the AM? I usually eat 2 bars a day, but I need to get lower sugar ones. My problem is that if I don't like it, I won't finish it. I'll eat half and then stop. And I LOVE food! Please help! Thanks!! MT

She does eat chicken but > that is it and doesn't want to eat it everyday. Well, there are plenty of other things to use for her protein allotment - eggs, beans, tofu, nuts, cheese, TVP (texturized vegetable protein) granules or chunks, peanut butter - the FoodMover booklet listed all those I just mentioned. When you look at it, there really isn't that much protein allowed a day as it is. A 6 ounce piece of chicken will cover most calorie cards, as will a few ounces of cheese and a PB & J sandwich and a few nuts.

In fact, if someone from outer space were to visit our planet, more of the land mass is occupied by cattle than people. They would think cows are the dominant species on the planet. Mad cannibal cows excepted, the cows' diet normally consists of grass. So, where do cows get their protein? Ed
Guest guest
Regarding Protein, Well this is true also that a mix of fruit and vegetables and also grains or in other words plants combine amino acids to form complete proteins. Trick here is you have to eat a wide variety of these to form complete proteins. You can't have a lettuce salad with tomatoe and expect to meet your protein needs. You should be able to get a book that gives you some ideas on some traditional combinations that form complete proteins, like beans and rice for example. If you don't want to go to that trouble, making sure you eat a variety should do it. If you feel satisfied after a meal for a LONG time, you got enough protein. However I must disagree that are needs are minimal. Every cell needs protein to reproduce itself. An adult by virtue of it's size needs lots more than a infant. We may not be growing larger as he is but every cell in our body needs to be replaced in order to keep living. Protein is essential for this function. We do not store protein for long. We store oil soluable vitamins for long periods but protein only last until we finish digesting it and utilizing it, about 4 hours or so so most important thing to get in every meal is protein. It doesn't have to be animal source. Animal source is just advantage in that it is complete alone without any veggies or fruits so you will feel satisfied. Your body will eventually miss the veggies and fruits though for vitamin and mineral substance, not as vital immediately as protein but certainly longer term essential. I studied nutrition in school. Perhaps everything taught isn't correct or be changed but I think this is correct for my own experience of feeling vital and strong. Essentially my substantial health problems come from a long term and severe shortage of sleep, insomnia and then I took some Rx drug which had side affect of suppressing my immune system. I took it for almost a year and have been fighting illness ever since. Drug name is Remeron. Do I respond to this or ignore it? I can't ignore it. I have seen more people than I can count recover from all their problems under the HIV/AIDS umbrella. However, along the way, there were always some who seemed to be doing all the right things, yet still had persistent health problems. Guest guest
Well, after water, our bodies are primarily protein and we have to build our bodies anew constantly. When our ability to rebuild our bodies diminishes we die. Regarding sprouts, they are a great source of protein. They are also unless handled just right, frequently source of alot of bacteria. I don't know why. Regarding what was source of college material on nutrition. I don't know but just because some of what was taught is wrong, doesn't mean everything taught was wrong. Anyway, I can feel it in my health. I really have to rely on good nutrition since I don't sleep well enough to get energy from rest, 0-4 hours my whole adult life. If I am really dragging, I have a piece of good quality meat, particularly red meat -like a steak- slightly rare side and I'm okay for rest of day. I'm not a big meat eater though and prefer getting protein from plant sources by eating a variety of veggies, particularly beans and rice usually in homemade soups I make. It's all comes down to how you feel based on what your experiences are. If you feel better on all veggies or whatever, then you are probably getting everything you need. Otherwise you wouldn't be feeling okay. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I think you are quibbling over definitions and don't realize it. An adult's need for protein is both substantial and minimal depending upon how those two words are defined. Most Americans eat far more protein than they need which creates too much acidity in their body. There are very few people anywhere in the US who do not get sufficent protein. Even the very poor often eat protein rich diets. If you are very sick eating too much protein is definitely not a good idea. Guest guest
Hi Dolphin, Yes, I find that a high protein diet is the best one for me (I have M.E. for over 20 years and FMS for 3). In the morning I eat carbs and then switch to protein for the rest of the day. My stomach is very bad in the morning and I can't cope with protein until lunch. Guest guest
Hi Annette, Fancy meeting you here!? On the subject of protein, I was just going over the Myhill page on her new cardiac theory, and she specifies red meat as a source of carnitine, to help put things right. She also observes that CFS patients do best on high protein diets. Time to perfect my beef goulash, I think. Guest guest
Sure helps my chronic fatigue. Three x/day. Mostly chicken, eggs, but red meat too. LAtely I can tolerate more red meat, (buffalo heart, super low fat), so I am eating more. Sure is nice to be able to cut down on carbs at breakfast. Stay content longer, and do not feel hungover. Guest guest
Yes,I am having vegetable proteins. mainly beans,lentils.. I have problems in digesting nuts.I eat them then I see them in my stool as pieces just in the same form as they leave my mouth.(Sorry for the description.).So,I am not sure how much of them is digested. That is really unbelievable. My stool is full of different distinct colors and forms.Nuts, tomato skins, parts of watermelons, corn, skins of beans, even sometimes green vegetable leaves.(Again sorry! But this is the only place I feel not so uncomfortable in describing such things. I am sure you will understand.)I am still trying to solve the puzzle. I am not sure what the problem is. Is this only stomach acid and /or bile problem or something else? I sometimes think if my stomach muscles don't work well to break food into smaller pieces. Thanks for asking this question to me. I had a chance of concentrating on this problem. Also, may be someone in the group can shed a light on this. Thanks. Nil Re: protein What about vegetable proteins, can you eat them? Peanuts, soy, etc? Guest guest
I was feeling fine and I ate only a can of sardines thinking the protein would make me feel good but I am now shaking, ears ringing and headache starting. The sardines were in mustard sauce and I cannot find the lid to see what was in that. I also wonder if possibly something in the sardines, such as ciguatera epitope, would cause the reaction?
