> Are colonics recommended/allowed?

Hi jennifer,

If you're talking about " professional " colonics NO, they are not

recommended. This is from the " Not Recommended Treatments " article:

*********

Colonics, or enemas, done at home by an individual are quite safe and

beneficial because they are not invasive, and only involve the large

intestine. However, professional colonics are very invasive, often

reaching into the small intestines, which is does more damage than good.

Professionals also recommend too many colonics within a short amount

of time which interferes with the normal important functions of the

large colon, i.e. balancing water and electrolytes in the body, and

the making of some B vitamins and vitamin K. Enemas should only be

done 4-5 days apart, and should not continue over a long-term basis.

********

hope that helps,

jackie

Honey, if you want a colonoscopy, tell them you want one, plain and clear, tell them cancer runs in the family.

I had one this last January, and I had colon cancer, they removed it layer by layer, and got it all. It was a large cancerous sessile polyp. I had no symptoms, just the recurrent pancreatitis. I go very regular, and dont have bleeding, so I didnt expect to have colon cancer, and was glad I went when I did, cuz it hadnt gotten too invasive. By the 4th layer removed, the borders were clear. So..........if you feel you need one, push for one !

Colonics

Hi Lynda,

Have you heard anything of this place? It looks like the do both colonics and ion detox. The website offers a lot of good information on colonics. I think I might give both a try here. I was going to try Eaton Theraputic Center, they are around the same price?? Don't know which yet but I don't think they do colonics in Eaton.

Lynn,

I have not heard about it. Personally I have

never looked into colonics, as my Naturopath did

not agree they were ever necessary.

I think that eating the right kind of fiber (lots

and lots of veggies and fruits) generally will

straighten out any digestive system, along with

probiotics and enzymes and good supplements.

Lynda,

I have tried everything you've mentioned but I am still constipated - I used Garden of Life Probiotics and I admit I am better than I used to be but I still have issues. Maybe if I could get cleared out a few times and start coffee enemas, it might help. I am used to the constipation but I hate the hemmrrhoids that come with it.

I think I might try one and see if it helps. If not, I won't continue. I think it will be good to detox some of the bowels that I am sure are compacted too. I almost look forward to it :)

Good luck with it. I had a colonscopy recently and was told that

everything was fine, so I am not too concerned about this type of

problem. I eat so much fiber that I never seem to have that problem.

I would like to have a colonscopy for some piece of mind. I hate that there is blood on the toilet paper sometimes. I have convinced myself it is the hemrrhoids but I would still like to have a colonoscopy.

My friend's husband was having low back pain for about a month or so. It got so bad he couldn't work and the doctors kept giving him pain meds. Well after a month or so and no help with the pain meds, my friend took him in for more testing. They couldn't do an MRI because he couldn't sit still that long with the pain. The did a CT and found a tumor on his tailbone. It is cancer and it is actually secondary cancer. He has colon cancer.

It is just scary. Seeing how sick Tammye Fay Baker was too. My friend said her hubby had no other symptoms. No weight loss, no visible blood in the stool. Nothing but back pain.

I don't think I can get a colonscopy without a referral from a doctor. I don't know that my doctor will give me one. They just tell me to eat fiber, put KY on my finger and push the hemmrrhoids back up.

Lynn,

Go to a different Dr if your Dr won't send you for the

colonoscopy. I have been dodging the colonoscopy for

years now. I always go for the ultrasound instead. I

have had the fresh blood on the tissue before and it

has been from hemmoroids. I found this out from a

rectal exam. Peace of mind is good, so if you're

worried go for a second opinion. Try not to worry to

much though. There are many scary stories out there

but you are very aware of your body. This is one gift

that comes from being sick. We pay attention to

changes. I hope that this will pass for you soon Lynn!

Lynn,

If you can please try the Acacia Powder. Since I have

been taking this type of fibre, my IBS symptoms (pain,

distention, constipation) have been greatly relieved.

If you cure the constipation, you will cure the

hemmeroids. One produces the other. Try oatmeal for

breakfast every morning. It is boring but it has

really helped me too!

Good luck! Let me know how the colonic goes. I have

wanted to have one for ages but it is not advisable

for people with IBS for some reason. I will go if I

can keep my symptoms in check for a while.

Dede, You make a good point. The way medicine is practiced these days is that, if you want certain procedure, you have to ask for them. . . . They cannot recommend some procedures . . . Cataract surgery is one example. I guess the idea is that if you're not smart enough to know what you need, it doesn't matter what happens to you. REQUEST, request, request! This is what confuses me Lynda. My diet is so much better than it ever has been. Still constipated. Even on the probiotics! I drink tons of water too.

Perhaps it is my thyroid. I know this can cause constipation too. I will be nice to get cleaned out.

Lynn, Thank you for asking. Yes, I am feeling so much better the past couple of days and now my colon feels better too. Lynn <spinkscl@...> wrote: This is wonderful !! I liked it too. I did one a few months ago, pre-explant. After I get a colonic, I am going to start the coffee enemas again. Are you feeling a little bit better? I

sure hope so! Hugs, Lynn Re: Colonics Lynn,I have not heard about it. Personally I have never looked into colonics, as my Naturopath did not agree they were ever necessary.I think that eating the right kind of fiber (lots and lots of veggies and fruits) generally will straighten out any digestive system, along with probiotics and enzymes and good supplements.LyndaAt 08:02 PM 8/23/2007, you
