How can they call them anti-depressants if there is hair loss???!!!! If I notice hair loss I am going to go back to being a bitch.>>> Violet_Angelle@... 09/20/02 01:48PM >>>

Has anyone noticed more than the usual hair loss on Lexapro yet? Hair loss is a side effect for most SSRI's, and I was hoping this one wouldn't do it....

....hi Dean,

I have long been interested in healing through frequencies- is this what the

Beck electrification is?

....no, not the blood electrification. he did develop a Brain Tuner, a CES

device (google that) now mfgd and sold by Sota Instruments as the BT-7. i

just bought one used and started using it in the last couple days...seems to

have some subtle effect that i like so far, takes awhile using regularly to

really kick in (so i read).

....for healing with freqs look into Rife machines.

....there's videos on utube or googlevideo of Beck presenting the whole

protocol...worth watching. google Beck Protocol, download Beck Papers.

also check out O. Becker's work with microcurrents in conjuction with

silver to cause cellular regeneration.

Does anyone know anything about treating hair loss with magnets?

....not me. check out www.garynull.com about hair loss.

Is this on topic?

....not really.

There seems to be an error here. I did not enquire about hair loss...

Help,

My hair is thinning, I find hair everywhere (from me not my dog) I was banded

1/9/07 and have lost 59lbs. Any ideas?

,

Relax... I had this same thing happen when I hit about 45lbs also.

I just try to eat right and use good shampoo. The good thing about it

is that it stops and the hair comes back. I thought it was never going

to end. I had hair on my sweaters and felt like a huge hairball for

about 1-2 months and then it stopped. I was told by my doctor that it

is normal and a way that the body deals with deficiencies and change.

I have now lost 80 lbs and my hair is fine.

This is fairly common. Make sure you are getting 60-80 grams of protein per day.

Some people say Biotin (water soluble B vitamin) helps however, too much can

actually cause alopecia.

Sometimes the body just goes into a kind of shock from the lower calories and

the hair temporarily thins as a result even though you have no shortage of

protein. You may also see less smoothness or rippling in your fingernails and

toenails as a result from low calories.

my dr. has us take biotin to help prevent hairloss it

really does work, my hair was thin before surgery and

I started taking biotin and it really helped to

thicken it up. it is helping alot since surgery too.

I take 2500 mcg of biotin/day. you can get it at any

vitamin store and may pharmacies

No matter how you lose weight rapidly, you'll lose hair. It will come back.

Don't waste money with various things that will supposedly fix it. Be sure you

get plenty of protein.

You've lost MUCH faster than normal. What is your weight now?

Dan,

I actually started losing 2 weeks before being banded with self imposed LSD, but

it has come off quickly. I now weigh 209.

Well, you've lost very fast for a woman, and for that starting weight. As you

may know, normal is 1-2 pounds a week AFTER getting a good fill, and you've lost

about four pounds a week since being banded, or about 3.5 since two weeks before

that.

I guess I'm not clicking on LSD, though assume you don't mean the drug that is

illegal, etc. It may be I need more of MY drug, namely coffee. Just had the

first few sips after sleeping waaaayyyy too late today.

Dan,

I did the liver shrinking diet (LSD) because I was way out of control. But I

have excercise religiously since I got banded. Weight loss has slowed way down,

now-but I expected that.

Ahhhh.....liver shrinking diet. Know some docs require that with some or all

patients....just hadn't heard of (or remembered) it as an abbreviation.

Exercise is great. Keep it up.

you weigh 120 lbs.

Hi Alyce...

It's pretty normal to some hair after surgery. A big portion of it comes from

the anesthesia, and sometimes during weight loss surgery we aren't getting

enough protein at first. Some of us take a supplement called Bioxin to help

with hair loss, some of us use a shampoo called Nioxin. Both of these products

help during the temporary hair loss phase. Make sure Candyce is getting 50 - 60

grams of protein each day. I hope this helps...by the way Congratulations on

her graduating..You must be very proud! HUGS Debbie in Moreno Valley, CA

I know this question has been answered a lot. What advice on hair loss.

Candyce is losing hair and it has thinned out quite a bit. Alyce

There is really no reason to lose much hair with banding. We are

absorbing all nutrients fine, so should not bedeficient if we are

eating good band foods. Mild Hair loss at about 3-5th months out

is thought to be from the anesthesia or surgery stress, and there is

nothing to do at this point. any hair loss begins to re-grow

immediately - you can feel the new little stubbs at the hair line, or

behind the ear.

Be sure she is getting emough protein - women need 50-60 gm a day but

not more. Also,be sure she is taking a daily chewable multivit, as we

all should be. In addition, a single daily Biotin (extra B vits) is a

safeguard. (at any drug or vitamin shop)

Some swear by Nioxin, a hair product with many testimonials and no

studies. (at most hair salons and beaty-supply places) But nothng put

on externally is going to affect the hair root, where growth takes

place. There are several studies that say it does nothing to help re-

growth - just makes the hair look thicker. several products claim to do

this- " Thicker Hair " shampoo is another. Won't hurt to try, though.

They won't HURT.

and help hair re-growth. It can affect only the APPEARANCE of the hair.

Any loss is already growing back.

Hi Alyce..

You can get Nioxin at any beauty supply store...I can only tell you that it

works for some people..I don't know the extent.

Bioxin has worked for me...It's available at Wal-Mart...

I know that my hair loss stopped after about 6 months...and now I take the

Bioxin to help with thickening...It does work for me...but I do know it grows

back because we do absorb our nutrients with banding.

Hope this helps...HUGS Debbie in Moreno Valley, CA

Hair loss is pretty normal for *anyone* that loses a large amount of

weight regardless of the method...banding, bypass or plain old dieting.

It usually starts about 4 months/40ish lbs into a major 'diet' and by

about 1 year into it has stopped and started regrowing... It is not a

permanent thing, and spending money on products may or may not help

some people, but it *will* grow back.

, I just can't figure out why you are losing hair. I havn't had any

problem at all.

I do get enough protein and I also supplement with Isopure.

I have heard that the hair loss is temporary and it does grow back

" L. " <forevercat@...> wrote:

Hi, group.

I went out today and bought some Bumble & Bumble Thickening Shampoo to

try to help with the hair loss. Should I have bought some sort of special

conditioner as well?

I also got some Biotin, but the pills are only 1000 mcg each. Someone

said we should be taking 5000 mcg per day. Does that mean I must take FIVE

of the pills daily? Someone else mentioned a supplement called Nioxin.

What is that, and is it instead of (better than) Biotin?

Also, I have a question: WHY does hair for most bandsters tend to thin

out? Is the hair loss temporary or permanent? Thanks for any help on this!

Thank God for what you have, and trust God for what you need.
