...we have the leg cramp problem in my family too (me and my mom,

thankfully not my kids...yet). We were also told to eat bananas....no go for

my mom, who hates them. One thing that we did try that seems to be working

(at least for me) is to use Morton's " Lite Salt " , which I believe is

potassium chloride. Also, investigate some of the pumped up orange juice

mixtures that are out there....I recall that at least one of them boasts that

they provide more potassium in one glass than in a banana.

Hope this is useful to you....

I get awful cramps like that and it is horrible. When I try to limit my

eating and work out more, I get them much worse. I will be bruised afterward

where the cramping was.

I find that anyone rubbing me does not help. I just have to walk around and

keep walking. When my husband tries to help I want to kick him.

If he were my child, I'd get him on a homeopathic liver drainer since night

wakings at that time along with pains like that can indicate a toxic or

stressed liver. I used to get those pains alot and have had them a few times

during strong chelation periods. Doing things to detox the liver always

helps me.

If you think potassium levels are the problem, you could have your doc check

them and then give some E-lyte or other electrolyte balancing drink that's

high in potassium. My guess would be that a liver cleanse would do him the

most good. I also wouldn't push chelation too much until he's done some

liver cleansing so you don't stress it more.

There are some accupressure points you could try if he'll let you. On the

feet, between the big toe and second toe, almost to the end of the foot is

one. On the hands, between the pinky finger and ring finger between the

knuckle bumps. Several times a day, rub them for about a minute or for as

long as he'll let you.

While I'm on the subject of accupressure points, doing a lymph cleanse with

the lymph points daily has done wonders when my son isn't focusing as well or

is getting a bit over loaded. Have the person lie down on their back with

their head towards you. Then, find the small indentions just under the

clavical bone on each side, gently and slowly pump it one second on and one

second off. I was told to do it 5 minutes for a child and 15 for an adult.

This has reversed many a bad day for us.

Try a glass of tonic water for leg cramps. The quinine helps. Also you may

be getting low on magnesium. Are you cheleting? DMSA also removes good zinc

and magnesium. Beverly

He used to have stomach cramps (3 yrs) until I got the diagnosis of leaky

gut and toxic to gluten & casein etc, and then onthe CFGF diet plus soya &

corn free, the stomach cramps stopped.

Now it is Legs, both of them, plus ham strings and the groin, hip and lower

back is involved . Since my last post he has had the worst attack ever and I

have had to give 5 mg diazepam to stop it. I am so upset, I cannot bear to

see him in so much pain. I just don't kmow what to do. Now he's feeling

better from the diazepam,he's up and about feeling great 12.30 midnight.

Urgh.... If I had 5mg I would be fast asleep.

I can barely stand when I see my son with leg cramps. He wakes up, usually

around 2:15 am (he's like a clock), and he will jackknife, grab at his

legs, sometimes try to bite them, especially the right leg. He will look at

me with a look so pleading, I could collapse with grief. I massage his feet

and toes while bending and straightening his legs, as well as deep

compressions. Sometimes this helps. I also put on a video for diversion.

It usually winds up in about 30 to 45 minutes.

I was told he could use potassium. Give him bananas. But bananas create a

whole other issue that is just as bad if not worse.

Do you suppose this could be related to fibromyalgia? That condition has a

chronic pain whose intensity goes up and down; changing from pain to burning

to tingling and back to pain again. ?

Poor little fella. It must be awful for him and it's obviously awful

for you too!

,

I know exactly how you feel. Its very traumatising. I was crying tonight

because I couldnot stop the pain he had. I hate giving Diaepam, I hate

giving him any drugs and its the only one he gets. But it does stop it in

bout 10-15 mins. what I want to know is WHAT is causing the cramps.

Part of the problem is that the doctors do not see our children with cramps.

However, mine is pretty good, and I have videoed a truamatic episode which

I will MAKE him watch on the next review. It won't tellme why though. I

have been told that most cramps are due to an imbalance of B6, magnesium

with calcium, with potassium involved. However,I have worked on this and it

has not improved things. It must be related to something else and my bet is

currently Lead. Have you chelated, are you chelating? If so, have you seen

any improvement?

Both my son and my husband did, but that was related to either soy milk or a sugar substitute I had introduced at the same time. I eliminated both and the cramping went away. I hope it resolves for you. - Carol

That's a good question. My sister has fibro. <<insert twilight zone music

There's that familial predisposing thing again. Anyone else with fibro in

the family?

We are not chelating, yet anyways. His test results are back, and Doctors

Data has pointed at a " probable " toxic load, but we want to confirm this

before trying to get the meds into our son. We have to be very careful, as

our pediatrician doesn't want to leap before looking.

I wish I knew what was happening too.

Is Lite Salt like Kosher Salt. This sounds like something my son might go

for. Orange juice presents a bit of an issue. Once in a blue moon fine.

Too much and stomach cramps.

Thanks

It's funny you mention having his potassium checked. He tends to by very

high, which probably means his body is not utilizing it well, as he really

doesn't ingest a great amount of potassium.

And the other weird thing is that I generally massage the base of his toes,

usually around the big toe (coincidently) and down that side, but this seems

to help him a bit. Never knew why, just that after trying everything else,

this worked.

Thanks for giving me stuff to think about.

Leg cramps can be caused by a magnesium deficiency. My son gets them if we

let up on his Epsom salt baths or magnesium supplement (he's now taking

Super-Nu-Thera, which has a high level of magnesium. Recently, when he

didn't get his supplements for about a week, he became obsessed with the TV

commercial for a " between the leg pillow " - guarenteed to relieve leg and back

pain. He watched TV all day hoping it would come on, and raised the topic of

ordering one " frequently " . Two days back on magnesium had him all fixed up.

Good morning ,

There's an awful lot of rheumatoid arthritis in our family - which I,

too have. FMS is WORSE! I'm doing better since detoxing but it's still

there, a nagging reminder just not as severe. I hope to get my fillings out

someday and see if it will help. Can't hurt!

When the pain was really bad (and it was generally awful at night -

waking me up in the middle of the night) I would take a couple

Extra-Strength Tylenol at bedtime and this seemed to help. You may want to

try this with your son so he can get the rest he needs. I imagine a nice

Vicodin Rx would do the trick (what a great pain-reliever that is, no wonder

it's addictive!), too.

I'd love to know if things improve for little (my name for little

boys in general).

The Morton Lite Salt is (to me at least) indistinguishable from regular table

salt. We've been using it for years.

Howdy,

My son's episodes are waning, fortunately, but I'm not really sure why. I

expect to see a burst occasionally.

My sister, however, finds very little relief from anything. I have

mentioned chelation to her, and the fact that she should have her fillings

replaced. She has excruciating jaw pain at time that radiates up the side

of her face and turns into a migraine. Then her joint pain starts. Makes

you wonder, don't it?

BTW, most of the escalation of her pain started within a couple of weeks of

inoculations prior to starting her job as a Registered Nursing Assistant.

She is still looking for the record of injected viruses so we can check on

what they include. Her doctor pointed out that it was probably just

coincidence, but she swears within three days of one inoculation, she got

what felt like the flu. A week and a half later, she suffered a bout of

fibro.

I used to get leg cramps when I was pregnant, and standing on a cold tile

floor would help.

Our yoga teacher showed us a good position to open the hips and make cramps

lessen. Lay on your back on the floor with your feet together, knees

pointed out to the side and hang out for a while. Just be slow and careful

getting out of it - use your hands to pull your knees back together. I

found it very helpful. I seldom get cramps anymore after introducing

exerise into my life. Hate to take the time to do it but feel so much

better after.

nne - Yes yes yes to having cramp in my toes, if it wasnt so painful it

would like some visual symphony watching the toes separate and contort. It

happens with me at night, sometimes all night on and off. Its on my list

for when I next see my doctor..Im way overdue with bloods, warrant of

fitness etc. Am having a few other problems with my legs so Im guessing its

connected someway...when I find out Ill let you know....one more thing Im

quite sure its not diet related as Im pretty careful to eat a balanced diet.
